A month ago I brought a dress to the Mt Vernon cleaners/tailors to be taken in. They had done a good job on a dress a few months before, and I am willing to pay the 35 dollars for a job well done. When I dropped off the dress this last time, a younger girl measured and pinned it, and I assume she sewed it as well. When I picked it up with a bunch of dry cleaning I didn't try it on and didn't check it, assuming there's not much to screw up. I wore the dress last week, only to realize that it had been sewn asymmetrically, the neckline is off to one side. Instead of using the seam that was already there, they cut a new seam about an inch next to the other one, and none of the stripes match up now. The dress looks ridiculous and cannot be fixed, because new seams have been cut, and if the inch between the seams were taken out, it would be too tight. When I went in to complain, I was told to come back on Saturday and to ask the girl who sewed it about why she did it that way. I do not think there can be a good answer to that and I plan to request a refund for the cost of the tailoring plus the cost of the dress.
Cons: cannot even take in a simple dress
