My husband made arrangements with Cox Equine Transport to pick up our newly purchased 4 yr old Kentucky Mountain Horse from his trainer in Kentucky and bring him to our ranch in Dripping Springs, TX. Last Monday, April 16th he was picked up between midnight and 4AM (awful to do to a young horse) and we expected as we were told that he would arrive within two to three days if not immediately. Yesterday we were hoping to hear that he was on the way, but NO, he was still in Gainesville and would remain there for another week and arrive possibly by the 26th. This was crazy and NOT what we were told at all.My husband left during the middle of the night last night with our trailer to arrive early enough to bring him home in cool weather early part of day. Well he got to the COX farm early, but no one was there, nor would anyone answer the phone. None of our phone calls incidentally had been answered or returned after the last one telling us about the change in arrival date.He sat in our rig for almost two hours waiting for someone to come to the ranch to feed the horses. Finally at approximately 9:30 a woman arrived with a helper and led my husband to our horse who seemed and looked weary and nervous. When asked about the calls and messages we'd left she told my husband they didn't check messages regularly!!!
Finally an hour later Mike Cox called the ranch and when I told him how disturbing this delay had been and NOT what we expected he began screaming and ranting then just hung up in my ear!!
I've had thoroughbred racehorses hauled for 18 years between Louisiana to Kentucky and never had one problem. Years later with a hauler for gaited horses I'm shocked about this.
I'll never use them again and recommend this to others thinking of using Mike Cox's COX EQUINE TRANSPORT!!! BAD BUSINESS......BAD OWNER of a company hauling horses!!
