One of the most romantic places in the midwest 4/20/2007

The Plaza in Kansas City is so beautiful, to really understand what I mean, you'd have to go yourself. There are all kinds of restaurants and stores for everyones budget. There are also many events like the art fair, plaza lights, and literary fair. My personal favorite is when they put all the Christmas lights up in the plaza, it's so beautiful and romantic! You can go on carriage rides and gondola rides while you're there, and even shop! There's so much to that you can do there. I think it's a great date place, and a fantastic place to meet new people. I really haven't seen another city with something quite as entertaining/beautiful/eventful as the Plaza in Kansas City. The Cheesecake Factory is a great place to go get some food, they have spectacular service, and of course, great cheesecake. Pros: Beautiful, romantic, great for anything from dates to families to hanging out with friends, and there are many things to see and do Cons: Parking can be a hassle sometimes more

What? No Tapas? 1/29/2005

Commercial real estate developers are calling you to come to the plaza to buy whiskered jeans at The Gap (instead of The Gap in your own mall), and splurge at The Cheesecake Factory (instead of The Cheesecake Factory in your own neighborhood). Yes, you too can make the drive through holiday traffic to see the plaza light spectacle: single-bulb strings lining the bare minimum. Bewildering in the 1980's, the plaza has become obsolete since the opening of Town Center (Plaza South) and Zona Rosa (Plaza North). Keeping in line with America's aspiration to live, work, and play without driving more than 2.7 miles, the plaza stays ahead of the pack by luring drooling tourists who have yet to learn it's merely a Spanish facade concealing retail chains found in Anywhere, USA. Don't get me wrong, it's got it's highlights (Plaza III, Starker's Reserve, Halls). But please, curb your enthusiasm. Pros: Convenient for locals, Good rendezvous, Not much else in KC Cons: Homogenized, Parking, Not much else in KC more

Pleasant and bland 5/6/2003

The plaza is a charming place, one of the few places in KC where you can wander around, sit in a cafe and people watch. It is, however the epitome of someting I read somewhere once ""cupcake land, where everything is pleasant and bland"". There are other things in KC you need to seek out which are more interesting...events like the First Friday gallery walk in the Crossroads, museums and other cultural events like the symphony which are underrated. Pros: popular, Historic, Parking easy Cons: ubiquitous, Too many chains more

Must see the Plaza Lights!! 1/11/2003

If you have never seen the plaza lights during the Holidays.. it is a MUST SEE !!! Cons: parking more

The plaza? 11/15/2002

I do not think that the country club plaza is the best place for when you are visiting KC. You can't cross the street w/o the fear of getting ran over by some crazy motorist speeding through the area. more

booooring 11/1/2002

The Country Club Plaza is nice, but how often can you visit here. It gets boring, and becomes a routine when the weather is decent. Winters(forget it) it gets horribly cold an unbearble to stroll down the streets. The Plaza isn't even big enough to surprisingly find a nice shop you'd never seen before. more

Country Club Plaza is for everyone 8/22/2002

It's hard to pick a best attraction -- interest levels are so varied. The Plaza, however, does have several things to choose from: wonderful designer stores, sporting/hardward stores, FAO Schwarz and several candy stores, movie theatres, boats and horse rides. Something here should appeal to almost everyone -- plus free parking garages. You don't find that in most cities! Many of the city's best restaurants are also located here. Pros: free parking, variety of stores Cons: traffic lights, stop signs more

I like to drink... 8/14/2002

...a glass of red wine, while sitting on the 47th street side patio of the Classic Cup and watch the people go by. That's the Plaza! more

perfection 8/13/2002

The Plaza is one of the best places in Kansas City. It is not only beautiful, but full of history!! Come a take a look! more

Great Fun in the Great Outdoors 8/8/2002

The Plaza... a favorite spot to shop, dine, enjoy the weather, and people watch! Unique and wonderful atmosphere from spanish-style architecture to beautiful fountains. more

Must See 8/8/2002

Wonderful place to go and visit. Shops everywhere and beautiful fountains and scenery. Variety of resaraunts from Fine Dining to Grab-N-Go. Especiaaly beautiful during the Christmas holidays with the lights. Pros: Shoppin Cons: Parking, Driving more

Fun way to Kill an Evening 8/8/2002

Visually Pleasing, Lots of Great shopping and eating, romance, movies, nightlife. Its a good place to get it all in one stop. If you are visiting town and can afford it, its a great place to stay as well. more

Familiar Shops with Unique Flair 8/3/2002

I regret only going to the Plaza once while I was in KC. Initially, I hesitated to go because I thought I should go with someone. I was so wrong. I had a great meal, shopped a bit (too bad there is no Tommy Bahama where I live) and enjoyed a nice outdoor band. There is no shopping experience quite like the Plaza, because of the Spanish setting and the convenient Sunday parking. Pros: good parking, scenery, nice sized crowd Cons: outdoor shopping more

Fresh air, food and Shopping 7/29/2002

The country club plaza allows shoppers to choose from some nationally known retailers and others that are local. I enjoy the plaza most around the holidays when it's postcard cold and winter white. There are so few options for open-air shopping and don't be fooled by 'town-center-plaza'.. what a bore of a place that is in comparison. Pros: Dining selection, People watching Cons: Parking at times more

There is a reason... 7/26/2002

The Plaza is the best of ANYTHING in KC because it is all it has. The Plaza is the only nice area in Kansas City, really. This is where you'd most likely take out-of-town visitors. There are very few options in this city. My father, who lives in the East Coast and has also visited almost every city in the US as well as the world was not very impressed with Kansas City when I took him for a tour. He agreed that the Plaza was the best place, even though it wasn't even that big of a deal. It is true. The Plaza gets ""old."" You can only go there so many times. It's really not anything special. Most of the stores and restaurants are all retail and chains, all of which you can find at shopping malls. Even so, the Plaza is still the BEST in Kansas City. more

OVERRATED!! 7/26/2002

Very Overrated. The Plaza is geared to the upper-middle class and yuppies. If you are not in business attire or look like you have money the service you get leaves a lot to be desired. People can be VERY snotty and uppity! Stores are too pricy. Would rather go to mall in Olathe. Minorities are not treated as well as others. A lot of room for improvement. The Plaza is beautiful to look at especially at Christmas time and that is the only positive thing I can say. Pros: Lights, at, Christmastime Cons: Bias, Snotty, Yuppies more

In a class by itself 7/25/2002

World famous shopping venue. Great atmosphere with it's many fountains and eclectic buildings. Always something new. Be careful crossing the street since it is always busy. more

visit it 5/22/2002

My wife and I visit the Plaza whenever we fly into KC to visit family. They are difficult to find, but bargains exist. Visit for the atmosphere not for unique shops or good buys. Pros: nice atmosphere, easy to walk around, easy parking Cons: expensive, closes TOO early more
