I had the best time! It was only $10 and had the best comics I have ever seen. Our set had 6 comics and all but one where absolutely incredible. I highly recommend this place. more

quintessential NY comedy club 5/20/2002

Right down to the exposed brick, this place is everything you'd expect from a comedy club in a West Village basement. The comics--like anywhere without a big-name headliner--are hit-or-miss, but come with an open mind. Plus, check out the bizarrely diverse collection of people this place attracts for an audience: Orthodox Jewish women in shetls, hoodie-clad hip-hoppers, confused Swedish tourists! The crowd's almost funnier than the entertainment. more

  • Located in a basement beneath the Olive Tree Cafe, this popular club has hosted a lineup of performers ranging from William Shatner, Ice T and David Lee Roth to Colin Quinn, Greg Giraldo and Dave Attell. The tight quarters, college-age regulars and raucous atmosphere make for a quintessential NYC comedy experience--as does the high probability of unannounced drop-ins by the likes of Dave Chapelle and Robin Williams. A full bar offers beer, mixed drinks and specialty cocktails, while the menu from upstairs features burgers and wings, plus some vegan fare like a veggie kabob platter.
