Colbeh is just great. The food is always so good. Disregard the decor and the music (colored lights and bar-mitzvah style dj mixes). Order the appetizer sampler and make sure ...

Only OK 1/31/2007

I was looking forward to trying the chicken kebab on the bone, it was delicious and well prepared but I only enjoyed the chicken. The green rice (dill) was a little dry and dull.. Persian rice is considered best when each grain remains single and individual. This rice certainly remained single but it seemed very dry and lacked any interesting taste. I started with a Tadig which I have only had once prepared by a persian friend, I loved that but the Colbeh Tadig was almost seemed uncooked and its sauce was really acidic and lacked balance. The service was considerate. The chicken kebab plate was pretty expensive $26, if it was really great I would not have minded the price. Pros: good service Cons: poor sides, expensive mains more

Falls short of expectations 3/27/2006

This place is decorated like someone took an office, ripped out the cubicles and purchased a pimp-my-ride home decoration kit. They have stick-on tinted windows, fake palm trees, and black-light accent lights around the ceiling that cause the cheap linen napkins to glow. The food is all right, but way over priced. On top of that, the manager is extremely rude. He tried to tack on extra fees to our bill since the vegetarian member of our dinning party only ordered appetizers (there were no vegetarian entrees). When questioned on why this was done at the end of the meal rather than informing us when ordering, he accused the vegetarian of lying about her dietary restrictions! Ironic for a kosher place, no? I will not go back. Pros: okay food Cons: overpriced, rude more

DO NOT GO HERE! 1/4/2005

this was my first time at this restaurant. not located on the best of blocks and unpleasantly decorated. but the food makes up for it. and the waiters were attentive. BUT nothing will make up for the fact that they have a huge customer service problem. they miscalculated our bill and told us we had put less cash than what was needed. my guests and i knew that was a mistake but the manager of the restaurant did not believe it. we felt mistreated as if we were thieves. we will never go back to that restaurant again. whatever happened to ""the customer is always right""? and anyway, they had no sufficient desserts. more

Authentic Persian Cuisine 4/15/2003

This is the place if you want Authentic Persian Cuisine. A large assortment of free appetizers that are delicious. Order the ""Colbeh for two"" if you want an assortment of the delicetable meats. They have the best grilled, juicy chicken on the bone. What a great feast. more

Best Persian Food in NYC 11/26/2002

Although the place isn't the fanciest place to look at in NYC, the food more than makes up for it. They have 3 restaraunts in total: one in Great Neck Long Island, one on Main St. in Queens, and the NYC location. The city is the second best behing the great neck branch, and the steak kabob (called BARG) is to die for. Combinations are a must for 2 or three people to share. Definitely hit this place up for a carnivorrous meal. (Steak Chicken or Ground Beef). Pros: Food, Location Cons: Ambiance, Service more
