I am not sure if the other reviewers are writing about the same location. I have been going to this location for a number of years and was shocked to read these reviews. I love this store! The women in the front and funny and welcoming. The eye doctor is super sweet and she is always very professional. When I advised that I found my contacts for cheaper on 1800 contacts they matched the price for me. Cant beat that! I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend. more

I walked in to get a price quote a few weeks ago and was quoted $500 with a free eye exam if I purchased a pair of glasses on the spot. I felt like in was in a high pressure situation so I told the woman that I would come back when I was ready to buy. After considering my options, and with a $100 off coupon in hand I went into the store yesterday to make my purchase thinking that I would be getting a great deal especially since they had a promotion of buy one, get another pair of frames free. After having to pay for an eye exam that cost $49, I was quoted a price of $449.98 for my lenses alone which I though was way overpriced just for lenses...the salesperson's response was ""you need high index transition lenses"" so that's the reason for the high cost of your lenses"". The final price that the sales representative quoted including the frames and ""warranty"" totaled $693.93. ""Just for glasses?"" I thought. I looked up the frames online and to my dismay, I found the same frames for ""$128.00"" which cost $270.00 at Cohen's. They were overcharging me for the frames as well! I called the store and spoke to another customer service representative, Alicia was her name as well, who assured me that they might be able to do a price match on the frames that I found online, but she had to check first and she would call me back to confirm. Four hours and two calls later( I had to call back myself), she confirmed that they would do a price match on the frames. When I expressed my concern that I might have been overcharged on the lenses, she said that I wasn't, that it was common for ""high index transition lenses"" to cost $450.00. Before rudely hanging the phone up before I could finish speaking to her, she said that the manager would call me back because the lenses were ""ordered already"". I didn't believe that the lenses were already made since I ordered them yesterday so I can't understand what the problem is with canceling my order. I wish I had read the online reviews before I made my decision to order here but we live and we learn. Never again! more

I would almost give it no stars if it wasn't for the nice eye doctor. Three months ago, I went in and got an eye exam, and got a quote for contacts. The eye doctor was so sweet and friendly. I ended up buying glasses from a saleslady who, now thinking back, probably overcharged me. I went back last week to buy contacts and the sales person (I think he's the owner) quotes a higher price than the eye doctor! I call him out on it and he stumbles and then offers them to me for $10 less a box! So shady!!! more

I knew it was a mistake to go there the minute I walked in the door. First off, the doctor was an hour late. Then, they kept giving me a very hard sell to buy their contacts instead of 1-800-contacts which I use. It got rude after a while because they just wouldn't let it go. If you could see how disorganized and unprofessional it was, you'd never consider switching to them. I finally had my exam and they verified that my current prescription was still what I needed so I ordered my contacts from 1-800. However, the next time I tried to order, they wouldn't let 1-800 send to me saying that the prescription they gave me was a ""trial"" and I needed a ""follow up"" exam to verify that the contact were fitting properly (1-800- e-mailed me the note Cohen faxed them). This was never mentioned to me at my initial exam. When I called the store to find out what was going on (after getting cut off several times on the phonee and having to redial), they said they never faxed such a note (even though I have a copy of it). I stopped by to look at their collection of sunglasses but told the salesperson I'd come back because I wasn't sure about a pair. The salesperson basically LIED to me when I specifically asked her if they were final sale and said I had 30 days to return them in order to get the sale and now I'm stuck with a pair of sunglasses I do not want because it turns out they have a NO refund policy. My advice is to to somewhere else because this is a low-class establishment. I certainly will not be doing business with them ever again. more

You will wast your time and money for nothing. Pros: This store lowers your standard. You can even be satisfied with bad customer service. Cons: They are still running the business. How come????? more

This was an all around extremely poor experience. First, when I called for an appt. they confirmed that they took my insurance and agreed to confirm before I got there. When I got there, they hadn't confirmed it and said that it was too late in the day to call and check but assured me they took my insurance. They made me sign a waiver that I would pay for the exam if my insurance wouldn't cover it. The optician was chopping on her gum during the entire exam. Of course the next day I received a call that they didn't take my insurance and that they were charging me $190 for an exam. At that point I had no choice but to pay it since they made me sign a waiver. When I picked up my contacts I saw that they had also signed me up for a warranty program without asking me. I called back to ask them why they did that and they blew me off. I tried to get my Rx from them so that I could order contacts from somewhere else and of course they wouldn't give it to me! Surprise, surprise! I will never go back to this place. Completely horrible and unprofessional. Pros: No one else goes there, so you really don't have to make an appt. Cons: Unprofessional, manipulative, dishonest. more

I went in for an exam and glasses. When I picked up my glasses, I could tell immediately that it was the wrong prescription-I couldn't even see across the street. They examined my eyes again, and increased the strength of my prescription by .25. This was STILL not the right prescription but they told me to try it for the weekend. I did try it, and it was awful. I called my old eye doctor, found out what my old prescription was and went back a third time and asked them to give me my old prescription. I saw their ad in AM NY when I was on the subway and decided to give them a try. When I walked in I was happy to see that it was clean and the staff looked very professional. I told them I needed an eye exam and a pair of glasses, like their ad and they seemed happy to help me. They showed me all the frames the the ad entailed, I was sure to tell them that I really couldn't afford any passed the ad and they helped me out great. The doctor gave me my exam and the next day I picked up my glasses and I couldn't have been happier with the service and the level of professionalism of the staff. more
