Clearview Tavern

I have been there on numerous occasions, but mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is a west side neighborhood tavern. Not a bar and not really a restaurant, but a gathering place with food and drink. A friendly blue collar crowd that seems to always know how to have a good time. The food is good and the beverages flow freely (not free). I especially enjoy the karaoke on Friday evenings. The only drawbacks for me are that I don't live on the west side and the lingering cigarette smoke is a bit bothersome. Sometimes I think the whole world smokes except me. They do have the smokers directed to an enclosed patio room, but the fumes still seep in. I will grant that it is better than a year ago but still bothersome to those of us with sensitive noses. I've been meaning to try other menu items, but I can never resist ordering the Fish Log platter. For about $8 you get a huge slab of perfectly cooked cod with two sides- better, even, than my old favorite, Alabamas Fish Bar. But this isn't the place for ambience. It's pretty much a dump, and there's generally at least a couple of old guys in there smoking cigars. more

Clearview is a small place with little to over in decor, but the food makes up for it. I have had breakfast all over the Cincinnati area, but nothing has knocked Clearview's $1.99 breakfast from my number one position. Where else can you get three eggs, meat of choice(I suggest the goeta), hashbrowns and toast for $1.99. Plus the food comes out quick and hot. On Saturdays and Sundays there is always a crowd, there is the young crowd getting a good breakfast after a night of partying and always the families, especially after chuch. So the crowd gives a good atmosphere to enjoy your breakfast. I highly recommend checking it out. I give Clearview's breakfast four stars!!!!!!!!!
