City view is an infested place of roaches and drugs. Homeless walk around in the basement and stairway.

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/6/2012

There are things you should know before you go. City View is convenient if you want to live and work downtown however like most multi unit apartments it has its issues. \r \r The staff is friendly and always willing to help and listen and thats great but at the end of the day you are the one that has to live there. The roaches are a serious problem, there are also bed bug issues, they are always willing to treat and spray if thats any consultation to you.\r \r Directly catty corner to the building is a seven eleven and while at first that seem great you will soon learn that it is a regular spot for the homeless and druggies to obtain their liquor. Even if they stopped selling liquor the churches and shelter that service the homeless are right next door. That wouldnt be a problem if they remained outside the buildings but of course that is not the case. The police are always doing drug raids in the surrounding parks and will likely always do so because it is public property and the homeless cannot be forced to leave (nor should they be so you have to be willing to accept that and the fact that you will be constantly harassed).\r \r The surrounding area around the buildings are dark and crime is a serious issue. In the short two years I was there , there was a murder in building 30 and 4 in the parks near the apartment and those are just the ones Im aware of.\r \r I recently moved this October as the type of people moving in continued to decline. While it was quiet the first summer the one that followed was pure chaos. There were fights at the pool, the elevators constantly broke down and the hallways and elevator while already nasty looking started to constantly be littered with trash. Don't let them tell you they are going to redo the hallways ( they told me that when I moved in, didn't happen) they wont until if and when they renovate.\r \r City View does have security on staff however you will find it really makes no difference because there is no lobby attendant and the officers cant be everywhere at once. The basement doors are often left open by exiting tenants and the homeless are always inside . Often at night they get so bold as to sleep in the entry way. Bottom line at the end of the day you have to decide whats important to you. I stayed for two years because of convenience but I will be honest and say the events of the last year and new tenants forced me out. Also be aware that they will tell you they don't accept low income residents but once you move in and see your neighbors you'll find that, that is simply not true and while there is nothing wrong with low income people when you are a working person you will soon find you dont want them as your neighbors unless you like the projects.\r \r One last thing you should know you will not get your deposit back in the time required by land lord tenant law. So dont count on it if you need it for your new place. You'll get eventually or so they say. Im still waiting.\r more

Nice Place So far 3/12/2012

The management staff is the best I have ever dealt with. Very responsive to your needs and very friendly. I have only been here a month and have been very pleased. The neighbors I have met so far have been very friendly and open to conversation. Since moving in there have been no homeless people in the building and NO BUGS at all. The unit I'm in has been renovated with new laminate flooring, Nice Updated Kitchen and New Heat and AC units. The hallways a bright and clean all the time. The trash bin has NEVER been full and has been emptied daily so far. The view is amazing for the price. I have seen the other reviews on here and I do not know what the other buildings are like, but this one is very nice. I have talked to several people in the other buildings and some of them have been here for a long time and really like it. I say give it a chance and decide on your own. more

Please dont do it!!!! 9/8/2010

I have lived in many different apartments over the years...so when i ran across cityview the price and the view sucked me right in. I can honestly say that these were the only two good things that came out of me living there. First of all this place is filthy. you walk into the beer smell/sweat smell/and bug infested lobby to find nasty homeless people hanging out. they bum rush you for money, ciggs, drugs, beer, and anything else that you might have. the security guard told these homeless men what floor i lived on...which i later saw them ""wondering around"" on my floor. numerous people will no longer visit me here because of how scary and disgusting it is. homeless people sleep out on the sidewalks and benches...but dont be fooled....as soon as they see you getting out of your car your pretty much fresh meat. they will haggle with you for money or booze...sometimes even following you into the building. if you are a female i would def. say dont even step foot on these grounds...just becuase these bums can not be trusted. i feel like a prisoner when i am here just because i cant even walk out to my car at night without being afraid im going to get raped. sorry im being so frank...but its the truth. i swear. once inside, the elevators feel and sound like they will fall off the track at any moment. it shakes and usually stops on most floors without anyone being there...so if your in a hurry...or live close to the top floor plan on being in there for a minute or two. since i have lived there the elevator has been stuck on a floor with people inside THREE TIMES! and i have only been here for 6 months. watch your feet when you are inside of the elevator also, there is usually puke or some objects that look like dog feces. its gross. once off the elevators you will be introduced to the lovely hallways. these are just as bad as what i have described so far...the carpet is stained and ripped up everywhere...the trash bins are usually over flowing...its embarrassing. once inside the apartment it does look nice...at least mine did. the worst part of all is the office staff there. to put it frank...they treat you like crap. they tell you they post things on your door (but dont) they are not willing to work with you at all and when you call for questions they act like they are doing you a FAVOR by telling you the answer...instead of treating it like they are actually helping you. i could go on and on about the office but honestly it gives me anxiety even having to think about how terrible this place is. please trust me in saying that you should stay far far away from this place...it was originally a condemned lot and was up for bankruptcy and cityview bought it off the steps of the courthouse...thats because no one wanted the pile of trash. dont be fooled my friends. i wish you all luck finding a place in the city...just dont say i didnt warn you. more
