My husband and I went to Cinetopia and Vinotopia (the restaurant) for Valentine's Day. The movie theater was great even though it was a little chilly. We had no snacks because the bozo working concessions couldn't figure out how to change out the cheese container for the nachos we ordered, and our show was starting. The service we received from the restaurant staff was undeniably the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, and for the pleasure of a lousy experience, I had to pay a sum total of $141.00. It took about 10 minutes before we saw our server after we were seated. Our waitress brought our drinks and then disappeared for 45 minutes. A different waiter brought our salad, but we were without any other food or drink service until our waitress appeared to offer us dessert, at which time we informed her that we had not been served our entrees. Couples at other tables near us who arrived well after we did were already on their dessert course. Our waitress went in search of our food order, but after 10 minutes I had had enough waiting. My husband had just summoned a manager when our entrees appeared. The manager didn't seem too perturbed about our situation, and offered us a paltry round of beers for our trouble. That was an apology worth a grand total of $11. \r
I regret to say that my opinion of Vinotopia is not complimentary. At a price of $60 per person for a 4 course meal and what should have been a fine dining experience, I should have received top notch service. I have certainly had much better service at a much more affordable price from some of Portland's finest restaurants. Furthermore, I left Vinotopia hungry. The food tasted good, but the portions for each course were very unsatisfying. I thought it insulting that after enduring such horrible service, we didn't even receive individual desserts, but had to share one. PS: The manager promised free movie tix and food vouchers for our lousy night, but of course we received nothing
Pros: high definitiion movies, comfortable seating
Cons: high price, theater was cold
