Treatment of inner city school groups 6/13/2011

I've been an annual member for years and had always thought it to be a great place. However, when I visited with my child's school group, I could see very disparate treatment, especially in the acess to the souvenir store. A security guard advised me my daughter (who has bought ice cream from the store dozens of times over the years) that she couldn't enter because she was with a school group and there was already one chaperone with five kids in the store. When I reached in to buy the ice cream myself, leaving my daughter outside, I was called rude by the security guard. The manager wasn't very helpful when I spoke with her and defended the silly policy. more

A fun day trip! 9/17/2005

We went to the museum for a birthday party and had a great time. The party was well done and then allowed the guests to experience the museum. My 3 year old enjoyed all of the museum and my 1 year old really enjoyed the water feature where you can 'fish', splash or just try to grab toys out of the water. The climbing structures and painting station were a big hit with both children. We'll be back even though the admission price does seem a bit high. Memberships are avaiable and we may consider that in the future. more

A Fun Way to Spend the Day 8/18/2005

This is the place that my son wants to go for his birthday every year. He loves it. The museum is basically a big open warehouse type space filled with activities geared toward learning and exploring. All of the displays are hands-on. Kids can dig, splash, climb, dump, and move the pieces. The museum offers a long list of events and you can host parties there, also. Admission is on the expensive side. more

Imagine It! 8/17/2005

The name of this place is the best description of what's inside. Imagine It really is what is inside because it has some things that you thought were only in your imaginations. It is amazing really some of the stuff they have on display. Also, a lot of things are interactive which lets your kids get hands-on and learn while doing it. more

Nice place to play 8/10/2005

The children's museum is a bit pricey but well worth it if you are planning to spend the day there. You can easily spend the day there with all the activities there are to do, but if you only have an hour to spend then it might not be worth the high price. There is a painting area, a water play area, and a "sand" play area, a wooden train set which are all creative places to explore. There is also a pretend food/ kitchen area and a truck to load and unload with boxes. For some reason this is my kids' favorite part! There is a contraption with balls and tubes and also another area which is like huge tinker toys. These have been a bit big for my kids to do. They have special exhibits every couple months so there is always something new to learn about which is nice if you go more than once a year. I think ages 2-7 would find this most fun. more

Fantastic fun for little ones! 8/7/2005

Unfortunately Atlanta is plagued by heat but Imagine It Children's Museum of Atlanta is a fantastic help. My toddler hates to be stuck indoors but it is simply dangerous to let him run around outside when the heat index is in the 100's. I purchased a year pass to the Children's Museum and we head over there once a month or so for a few hours of enjoyment. Parking isn't fantastic (either expensive $5 in a parking deck or scuzzy $2 outdoors) but it's a small sacrifice to make for the kids. The museum has a ball area, train tables, sand and water, food fun and different exhibits that rotate. My son started going when he was a year old and still gets excited when we head to the 'museum' for the day. Highly recommended. more

Boring for Adults & Children 8/6/2005

I took my niece for a fun day at a museum that was specially made for her and was truly disappointed. The entrance fee was too high and the place was fairly empty. I logged on to their website before going to see the daily activities and was disappointed that only 1 of the things listed on their website was actually going on at the museum. We were there for less than an hour, nothing too impressive to see. more

Too Crazy for us! 8/6/2005

The children's museum opened to much fanfare in Atlanta and we were so excited to give it a try. We were surprised at the prices being so high. On we went... the kids were excited. However, the noise... oh the noise... The place is chaotic and not so much fun. The different stations were overrun with bratty kids with no manners. We won't be back again. more
