Best

The new Cary Char-Grill has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it's great when the weather is less than perfect. Love the flavor!

Just got take out from the Cary location, Very disappointing. I haven't been to CG since back in the day at the Hillsborough location. Staff seemed like they could care less, BBQ ...

Amazing meals 4/17/2006

I have had lots of great dinners at the char grill. the burgers here are the best in town hands down. They also have excellent hot dogs and otehr items. My favorite part about char grill is you can see them cool your mela right in front of you on the massive grill. Always a good time. they have old fashioned car shows during the summer for a extra special event for car lovers. graet meat and cars...what more can a guy ask for? more

Oh How I love thee... 4/14/2006

I was a vegetarian for 8 years, it was Char-Grill that finally brought me back into the meat eating world. i would drive past it everyday on my way home from work. one day the smell finally got to me and I purchased a hamburger. These really are the best hamburgers in town. and are reasonably inexpensive as well which makes them even better. more

Old Fashioned Burgers 1/27/2006

Char Grill is home of the old fashioned burger. Their simple menu features hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and thick milk shakes. Walk up to the counter, fill out a slip of paper letting the grill know what you want to order, hand over the slip and wait to be called. Char Grill is part diner, part burger joint. more

Not that impressed... 12/11/2005

I had heard about Char Grill ever since moving to Raleigh, but it didn't turn out to be very spectacular upon my first visit. The highly-touted shake was rather mediocre - basically just soft-serve ice cream. The fries were good, but it wasn't really any different from any other hamburger stand. The ordering system is very confusing if you're a first-timer alone - I have several friends who have had to go through the line many times because they didn't realize there were "cards" to fill out, or how to fill them out properly. There are not very clear, posted instructions. The establishment is cash only. more

A Raleigh Landmark 9/15/2005

This hamburger stand is very popular with the locals, so you know its good. Be prepared to eat in your car though, because the patio is always full. Also, I think it is still cash-only. So you're not circling the little building, looking for a place to order, here's what you do: find a pad and pencil on the counter, write your order, REMEMBER YOUR NUMBER, and drop it into the slot. In a few minutes, they'll call out your number and you go to the cash register to pay. When its busy, its usually a 10 minute wait, but the burgers and fries are tasty. If you have the room, try the apple turnover! more

Must eat here 8/23/2005

Char-Grill is a Raleigh tradition. Located just minutes from downtown, they have a small parking lot and a few tables outside. You walk up to the window and place your order. Then wait while it is being prepared. You may also call or fax your order in. Then they will call your number/name to claim your food. Be sure to try the shakes. The burgers are large and delicious. more

Burgers: 8/21/2005

You only go to Char Grill (which has many locations besides this) for two things: their burgers and the milkshakes. Both are divine. Their burgers are juicy and thick; their milkshakes are cold and sweet. When you just want a burger, whether for take out or eat in, this restaurant/shop is the place to go. more
