My favorite restaurant ever! 6/17/2010

This is the best place ever for a good meal. I went at lunch time because of the value. The food was excellent and the waiters were funny and friendly. It is a different experience than American dining and the authentic Brazillian food is delicious. I went with my friend and her mother (they are Brazillian) and they said it was wonderful - they would know! I plan on returning often. If you go, go hungry because there is SO much to try. Pros: Excellent food, friendly staff, classy more

Best restaurant ever! 6/2/2010

We visited Chama Gaucha today for the first time and I left with the certainty that this is the best restaurant I've ever been to. Every morsel we ate was delicious (and there were multitudes of different foods to try) and the service was just amazing. The waiter even held my chair and cleared the table of crumbs. I thought that kind of service was extinct! The restaurant is very stylish and elegant inside, but the staff is still family friendly. I absolutely love this place and want to bring all my family and friends to experience it! Pros: Delicious food, mind blowing service more

Chama Gaucha Steak House 4/21/2010

We went there for lunch and could only go thru the salad bar. It was so full of healthy options. There were so many choices. We will return next time with an empty stomach to then try the meats. The staff was friendly and helpful. They walked us through the entire experience. Very nice touch. Pros: Salad Bar Amazing more

Great Brazilian Steakhouse 1/5/2010

Great food, good atmosphere and wonderful staff. I have been there numerous times in the past year, and have not had a bad experience yet. As a matter of fact the service has improved!!! They are very helpful and knowledgable about their wine selection and won't make you feel like an idiot when you order. The last time we were there they even had a nice after dinner drink selection that they bring to your table and present. Great stuff... Highly recomend Pros: Great service!!!! more

Ran out of food, service a mess 10/30/2009

They started out good, but it quickly went downhill. We asked for more rolls, they said they would get them out to us in 1-2 minutes. About 10 minutes later we asked again- they said another 1-2 minutes. In another 10 minutes we asked yet again- we were told 3-5 minutes. At that point we had to leave for a previous engagement and asked for our bill. It came, and had a charge for a can of Sprite on there ($4 for a can!). We told them it was a mistake and they left to go take it off. The waiter came back a minute later with a new bill, and the charge was still on there. He left again, and it was finally corrected. It was beyond frustrating to sit there waiting so long for rolls, and then for our check. It ruined an otherwise nice evening. Pros: Food was good Cons: mistake on bill not fixed when asked, rolls never came more

Simply the best meat anywhere! 4/15/2009

This was my first experience at this type of restaurant. Everything was far above extraordinary from the choices at the salad bar to all the fabulous and flavorful cuts of meat. We came for a celebration and it was perfect. I can only add my raves to those in the other reviews as far as service, atmosphere, and value. It's just become our new place for special occasions! Pros: The tasteist cuts of meat and you don't have to choose you c more

Top Tier 3/9/2009

Ranking them according to my likings I have to say...... 1) Texas De Brasil(Addison, TX)....2) Chama Guacha(San Antonio, TX).....3) Fogo Da Chao(Addison, TX) Texas Da Brasil has a sunday brunch that is beyond exceptional. The salad/brunch bar is twice the selection No. 2 and 3 on this list. The meats however are idential all three places and that's really what I enjoy most. I'd like to see some fruit selections at the salad bar at Chama Guacha. more

Delicious Food, Outstanding Service 1/30/2009

Prepare yourself for a culinary delight! Chama Gaucha is a traditional Brazilian Churrasqueria or Steakhouse located off Loop 1604 between Stone Oak Pkwy and Blanco. The restaurant decor is beautifully done, with a lot of attention to detail. You can begin your meal with the large salad bar complete with items such as sundried tomatoes, grilled red/yellow peppers, pickled mushrooms, cheeses and the like. The belles of the ball, the meats are tasty and perfectly prepared. There wasn't a cut of meat that wasn't delicious. There are several sides that included with the meal. My personal favorites are the mashed potatoes and the cooked bananas. The desserts are delicious too. When you make your reservation, ask for Joao, the restaurant owner. This man truly knows the meaning of service. So work up your apetite, and prepare yourself to eat like a king. Pros: Delicious food, great ambiance, excellent service more

Meatlovers paradise 1/15/2009

Hard to beat $ for $! 1/10/2009

This was my first churrascaria and I was pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent, people were literally running to get us anything. We also had a few drinks which were reasonably priced and pretty good. After trying the majority of steak places in SA I would definitely place this one near the top dollar for dollar. Pros: Price, Quality, Service Cons: Lack of consistent waiter (floating staff) more

some of the best food in the city 1/5/2009

I had never heard of this place before I went, but I sure am telling everyone about it now! I didn't get a chance to sample the salad bar but everyone else in my party said it was excellent. The meat was definitely the highlight of the night. Every time I tried a cut I said to myself ""I have never had something this good"" until I tried the next cut! The service was impeccable, and the maitre de was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive as he came over time and again to check on us. The price was unbelievable in the good way: $35 flat fee (plus wine and desert). You would be denying yourself if you didn't go to this restaurant, it's a highlight of San Antonio. Pros: Great food and wine, excellent service, very reasonable price Cons: location - quite a drive for most of San Antonio more

Amazing Food 12/23/2008

We went to Chama Gaucha for a birthday celebration and it was FABULOUS! The salad bar awas a meal in itself and by the time I got done with the salad bar, I almost had no more room for the main meal. But, somehow I found a place left in my tummy to enjoy the awesomely prepared meat dishes. I had no idea what to expect when i went there and have recommened this restaruant fo all of my friends. The service was excellent as well and the servers were friendly. I also really loved the cheese puff appetiezers when we first arived. Thank you for a wonderful diing experience. Pros: Great service, Fantasic Food more

Carnivore Heaven! 12/22/2008

Definitely great for the meat lover! My husband and I went recently for a holiday party and did not know quite what to expect. The restaurant was nice without being ostentacious and we got attentive service and a good selection of wine. The salad bar was also clean and fresh with an assortment of choices. We are planning to return soon and are recommending it to all our friends! Pros: ambience, selection of meats and wine, attentive staff Cons: very busy more

Incredible Food, Service, and Value 12/7/2008

I was blown away by this place. I have been to several churrascaria-type restaurants before and was quite nervous about giving Chama Gaucha a try given that is fairly new and I could not find any reviews. It was by far my best experience at a churrascaria and there is nothing negative I can say about my visit. At $35 for dinner, it is also signficantly less expensive than similar establishments in Houston and Dallas while the quality of the food was equal if not better. The service was amazing - extremely attentive without being overbearing. The staff went out of their way accomodate requests (another review mentioned the filet without bacon - I asked for and received the same) and the owner dropped by our table several times. The restaurant was only about 2/3 full on Friday night - no doubt because it's still quite new. more

Hope it survives! 12/6/2008

Great food, great value. The only thing we did not like was the garlic steak. Everything else was superb. If you want filet w/o bacon, just ask and the will make it for you. more

best brazilian restaurant so far 12/6/2008

I am very well-travelled around the USA and around the globe. I travel simply to eat and enjoy different cultures. When it comes to churrascaria, name it, i have been there, NY, Houston, Seattle, SFO, LA..I have sampled most of the popular churrascaria around the country. BUT CHAMA GAUCHA takes the cake by far. From the humble, polite and cultured Guam or Juam, to the succulent and tender cuts of beef, the restaurant experience was pristine. This is an excellent choice of a steak house.the salad bar is fresh with great variety and an excellent price too.. DO VISIT them. Ask for Juam the owner..tell him of this review..Great restaurant! Pros: GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD more
