First time here and was very disappointed. I made reservations a week before and upon arrival was told that they were behind by 20 minutes since they had more walk-ins than usual. lighting was way too bright with no vibe at all since tables are so spread out. I must say that service was good but food was only average. Went to read the menu and found food stuck all over the front of it. I had to laugh on the front door they prominently displayed "" proper attire required"" I saw people dining in shorts, tee shirts, sandals, and backwards baseball caps on at the dinner table. Apparently they don't enforce the policy. First and last trip here, with the abundance of great restaurants in Atlanta this is a skip for sure! more

As a Chef I must say........ 5/20/2012

THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW!!! Many of the prior review may have only tried Chama Gaucha as their ""first"" Brazillian Steakhouse, because this product based on other Brazilian Steakhouses is BELOW sub-par! :( Lets start with the good things this restaurant has.......... ""the staff"" mainly Chris (the other staff in our areas were also good and were both named David). I must add that, I visited on May 19th, 2012, at around 8pm. We called to make reservations since we were advised that the walk in wait was min. 2hours (so, we went ahead and made reservations for 9pm). Well, like I mentioned earlier we ended up walking in around 7:30'ish and was seated at 7:55-8pm there was practically NO WAIT (nonetheless a 2hr. wait). Moving along, we started with the salad bar as usual, VERY LIMITED as compared to Texas de Brazil, and Fogo :( For one, the Tabbouli was horrible (lacked significant flavor), this is sad, as I love to enjoy my meats with a flavorful Tabbouli as it enhances the flavors even more, .......unfortunately, this was not possible with the Chama Gaucha Experience. Next it was time to eat the meats, the guys were very fast, the first was the Filet Mignon asked for medium rare (got more rare), Tried the chicken cognac and it was flavorless, next came the pork ribs and they could have cooked it a little more (as a portion of it was quite rare), following that option came the Lamb..........the bone tips were very charred, so I thought that they were cook to perfection.......NOT!!! Slowly the night became a very big dis-apointment to say the least :( . I confronted the manager Jordan, and he was the MOST ARROGANT man I have ever came into contact with in San Antonio. A very bad reflection on the company as a whole! This guy made a snide remark to me after telling him about his ""slack in product"". I was VERY TAKEN BACK! As a manager Jordan, you should learn to take the H.E.A.T!!! Hear, Empathize, Apologize, and Take Action!! you acted with very little empathy so I didn't expect you to apologize for my experience (which you didn't/ you really need to be coached on your interactions with guest because what Chamma Gaucha has is a HEARTLESS EMPLOYEE miss-representing a potentially qualified product........... WOW!! Let me just tell you Chama Gaucha San Antonio I am a 14yr. Chef who owns one of North Houston's Largest Catering and Event Production Companies (so I know what I am talking about!) I love a GOOD Brazillian Steakhouse, if there is any advice that I can lend to you (the consumer) is if you are interested to have the FULL Brazilian EXPERIENCE, PLEASE TRY Fogo de Chao, then, Texas de Brazil, and LAST Chama Gaucha (if you insist) you will feel the same way I do! I didn't want to add this but my husband was on the toilet all night :( PROS: 1.) Good ""Servers"" (thats it!) Cons: 1.) Under cooked meats which lead to 2.) Lack of Flavor & a 3.) Limited Salad Bar People that go to a Brazillian Steakhouse know they will SPEND MONEY.......so spend it where you are going to get your money's worth.......... PLEASE :) Chef Michelle Tadeo-Hernandez! more

good service and great food 2/4/2012

My wife?s family came up from Venezuela. All 8 of us went there and had such a great experience that I will defiantly be going back. I got in and they have these huge sofas and gave us beer when we were waiting for our table. I didn?t to much like my beer they gave me so they traded it for another free of cost. Some of the best food in San Antonio and staff was great!!!!!!! If they had 10 stars they would get it. more

San Antonio's best Steakhouse 8/8/2011

Chama is one of the best steakhouses we have ever been to. We have tried several other Brazilian restaurants and this is the best. The wait staff is amzaing and they cater to your every need. The salad bar is also delicious and has many types of salads and vegetables which would be good for a vegetarian. The meat is cooked to perfection and I highly recommend it to all. more

Best service in town 8/1/2011

Wife and I went with our sons on our 25th anniversary. The service was relentless, catering to our needs at all times. The red wine was awesome with the various cuts of meat! Other than overeating, I had a great time! My wife and sons enjoyed it immensely! Boys are 17 and 20 and they ate their money's worth. We had a tremendous waiter that took care of us but another came and asked, ""Who's birthday is it?"" (Wife and I had a big laugh after the main waiter apologized profusely.) Must recommend the creme brulee. Simply leaves an impression after all the protein ingestion! more

Wow! 6/30/2011

This Place just need a tiny bit more attention to the needs of customer and its 'Untouchable!' Specificly, servers need to smile more and not behave as if the customer needs to hurry when deciding whether or not they want more outstanding food. Otherwise, Awesome Awesome Awesome! more

Near Perfect 2/14/2011

When you first walk in the restaurant is very nice. The service is exceptional. The meat that is served tableside, immediately when you request it, is seasoned and cooked to perfection. My husband and I tried every type of meat they offered. We both preerred everything except for the lamb. The salad bar is like no other. It has beautiful steamed aspagus, delicious bleu cheese and olive oils. I didn't try the chicken salad but, my husband said it was the best he ever had. We both had the Creme Brulee for dessert and it was a perfect ending! I actally had a dream about the place after I went! more

good food and atmosphere, HORRIBLE MANAGER 1/6/2011

Wow. I have heard plenty about this restaurant and how good it supposedly is. The atmosphere was very nice, and the food is good, HOWEVER when my fiance and I were there, the waiter was new(I think) and he made a couple of mistakes with our order. That was irritating, but I didn't want to give the guy a hard time. We did let them know the issue though, and the manager (an Asian fellow), was very rude to us. He seemed very arrogant and acted like he was angry that we were complaining or that he did not believe that his precious restaurant could make a mistake. He made us feel very uncomfortable there. So long story short, food is good, the place is nice, but the manager is THE biggest jerk I've ever met. What was supposed to be a nice date night for us turned bad because of this experience, so we won't be going there ever again. more

good 9/8/2010

If you are a steak guy at all I recommend this place. The steak is fantastic and the service is good as well. Not too pricey, but good for a nice meal more

Great service 8/27/2010

Wow?what a great restaurant to take the family and friends. Outstanding service with great food. Wife really enjoyed the salad bar while I enjoyed the main meal. The perfect place to take our friends visiting from Europe. I was told the owner even gave coupons to the Fisher Houses in San Antonio that takes care of the military families in need of critical medical care. Thanks for the great service and thanks for thinking of our military families. more

Amazing Evening 8/23/2010

We had family come into town and decided we were going to try out the Brazilian Steak House. There were 9 of us all together including younger children. They were at our every need. None of us saw the bottom of our water or wine glasses. They were always right there to pour more for you. The meal was excellent. If there was something you wanted all you had to do was ask and someone was there with it. Great place and will be back again! more

R. San Antonio 8/7/2010

I have happily traveled accross these United States and Internationally, as well.\r Without a question. Without a doubt, The FOOD and SERVICE at Chama Gaucha, in San Antonio, Texas is far superior to any purported steak house in this town. Chama Guacha, exceeds any expectation. It is in a League of their own. Price, Service, Food, Envirnoment, over-all quality is un-surpassed. Yes, at times there may be a slight over-sight. Except that is so rare, it does not warrant mentioning. It is only those few individuals, who find fault in anything except themselves and wish to walk on water; who seem to object to a late coffee and the like. My answer to them is, try going to another establishment and see what they do and what they charge for it.Like Ruth Chris. The size of the entree, and the price is nothing short of robbery. Where can anyone go and be served with excellence, treated with respect, and allowed to savor food that heaven itself must have prepared, all for a price that is more tha more

Excellent Service and Food 8/1/2010

The salad bar has a good variety but the meats brought by the wait staff are what this place is all about. The selections are very well prepared and spiced to bring out the best flavor. They keep your plate filled and quickly bring any special requests. The attention to detail is apparent throughtout the meal as crumbs are cleaned from the table and glasses refilled quickly. A most pleasurable dining experience whether for lunch or diner. Pros: Superb food and service Cons: It cheap but its worth it! more

OMG! 7/24/2010

An Unforgettable Experience! 7/10/2010

My daughter and I took my husband to Chama Gaucha for his birthday on July 9, 2010. All I can say is that we had an awesome experience at the restaurant. The food is phenomenal and the wait staff and service was exceptional. The staff is friendly, accommodating, helpful and they are by far the most professional group of people we've encountered in our restaurant experiences. As far as the food, the salad bar is amazing -- you can get full just with the salad bar, and the meat selections are absolutely delectable. Also, our waiter brought my husband a complimentary dessert - creme brulee -- and for a person who is not a dessert eater, I was in absolute heaven. It was delicious! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. I can't wait for my return visit! more

Great food... great service... until dessert 7/3/2010

My boyfriend, our roommate, and I went here for the first time last night and it was some of the BEST steaks I've ever tasted. The service was great they were on top of everything never let our glasses go empty and were frequently by the table to make sure we didnt need anything...until it came time for dessert. One of the 20 different people that came to our table offered us coffee and dessert. We ordered a coffee and two creme brulees, which were delicious. But, we never saw our coffee. So about 15 mins later we get our dessert and a different man brings us what is suppose to be our check. It's not so we hand it back. He comes back and says "Did you get a slip from the bar for your margarita and beer?" No, because we drank water all night. So he tries again. Finally, another 5 minutes and he gets it right. The food was amazing but it was aggravating that everyone around us that came in half way through our meal, had their coffee and checks before our dessert was brought out. It's also more
