Bathrooms, not for the faint of hart! 5/9/2008

I requested two orders of fresh tortillas (Hand made, one of their specialties) Received manufactured stamped out tortillas. Requested a second and third time, to no avail. BATHROOMS: DIRTY RESTAURANT CARPET: DIRTY Ironically, the food was good. (not enough to make me come back - ever) I am not hard to please, but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. They take their business for granted but it is only due to location I assure you! more

Not recommended for New Year Eve or any other day 1/1/2008

I spent $62 on one taquito, salad out of a freezer bag, cold fajitas and three tablespoons of vanilla ice cream. Normally, I wouldn't be so surprised by a New Years exploitation... let's face it, who's really looking? However, what did upset me is the fact that the bathrooms stayed filthy & smelled like a sewer all night, the waitress added gratuity on our table of three (a bit more than 18% do to poor math skills), the countdown they had was off by 30 seconds, and the champagne they had was garbage. If I wanted that kind of quality, I would have gone to Taco Bell and got a 40 of High Life and kept my sixty bucks. Pros: Excellent valet employees Cons: Filthy bathrooms more

Decent Drinks, Horrible Food. 8/12/2007

Hangin in MDR on a Sunday. Made the mistake of recommending this place to a few of my friends. I literally would rate this as the worst mexican food I have had in S. California, at least on the Sunday we went. I mean El Coyote has better food. Never thought I would say that. The margaritas are fine and the waiter was a nice guy. Pros: Hard to say. Cons: Food and decor. more

So-so Mexican in a lovely setting 11/14/2006

The location was terrific. We had a company party here once and the margaritas were decent. But the food wasn't the greatest. Most everything tasted as though it had been sitting out for quite a while and nothing was hot but lukewarm at best. I would come back only for drinks but not for the food. The area's nice though. Pros: views/atmosphere Cons: food more

Don't Go For The Food 7/17/2003

The view, sitting outside facing the Marina, is great. The service was very friendly! But the food was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I love Mexican food - but I rather go to Taco Bell - which I haven't been to in ten years. more

We popped in for a couple of drinks. The bar isn't the trademark of the place, so stick to their specialty: margeritas and daiquiris. They have an outdoor patio that gives on the Marina laying a delightful water scenery. The decor is warm and like any restaurant from latin descendant is appropriate for large group gatherings and family get togeteher. The regulars are not on the preppy side and the dancers of the Flamenco show are great but are very akin to the crowd. Pros: Flamenco show, Nice view Cons: Middle age crowd, Average drinks more

Has a nice patio area for gatherings or party type occasions. I had a party there and everyone enjoyed themselves quite a bit. Great view of the water and boats, good food, service and drinks. A little dark inside, but fun for the musical entertainment. more

Great view, decent food, terrible drinks 9/1/2002

CE is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant with the distinction of being set on the water. The patio is great, ask for seats outside. The food gets mixed reviews, starting with the ketchupy, canned salsa. Rich's crab enchiladas were filled with a weird crab salad mixture bordering on unpleasant, although his creamy avocado acompaniment was ambrosial. Chris, however, really enjoyed his beef enchilada/taco plate. Service was only adequate - we had to ask for everything and water was never refilled voluntarily. The table was dirty when we sat down and we had to ask to have it cleaned. The low spot - in Chris' mind at least, was the absolutely dreadful margarita. With no sour flavor at all, it tasted like nothing more than a glass of blended ice. Our philosopy on Mexican restaurants starts from the margarita and goes from there, if the margarita disappoints, look out. Pros: View, valet Cons: Salsa, Service, valet more
