Dept of Health Should Investigate 10/23/2011

They do not practice cleanliness which means their food handlers are putting there hands everywhere then putting them in your food. Getting brutally ill from food at this place, many times, has taught me well once and for all not to attempt being a patron. It took time for me to realize it was always after having eaten their food. Buyer beware. more

Good Food that's easy on your wallet 2/5/2010

Great Pizza. The food is good and service very good. The prices are right too. Call ahead as sometimes the entire restaurant is booked and it will be closed to the public. The sidewalk tables are very good on warm days. I wish they would make Lasagna on more than one day (Mondays). The deliver locally and are usually on-time. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Food & Service, could be a bit more spicy Cons: Sometimes the Restaurant is Booked and Closed. more

casa dcalamari 3/13/2009

I hate warming trays!\r \r When I walk into a restaurant for the first time and I see warming tray, my first reaction is to walk out. Foods left sitting in warming trays loose all texture and remind me a very bad junior high school cafeteria.\r \r Casa Calamari has warming trays as you come in and all I wanted to do was walk out! But, my friends persisted and my health insurance is still in effect so I said o.k.\r \r The décor is simple and clean, sort of an office workers lunch place. The service was friendly and actually knowledgeable. There is some confusion in that there are at least three Casa Calamari?s in Brooklyn. I do not know if they are related.\r \r What surprised me was the food! If you are careful to order the daily specials, not on the warming trays, the food is actually good.\r \r The Lasagna was fresh and plentiful. It needed a little more seasoning, maybe some oregano.\r \r You can tell if Lasagna has been sitting, the edges dry up and the sauce de-emulsifies (there is a reddish water on the plate). My bet was that the sauce was made fresh and maybe even with real tomatoes (I found real tomatoes seeds in the sauce).\r \r The calamari and linguini was also good although I like mine to have some more heat and again the portions were large and inexpensive.\r \r Main courses are about $ 12; there is a three course dinner menu with a glass of wine for $25.\r \r If you can find a parking space in Bay Ridge, Casa Calamari will do nicely. \r \r Pros: Good Food & Service Cons: parking more

Good food, very reasonably priced, friendly owners, friendly staff 8/18/2008

My wife and I frequent this good restaurant. A family friendly place. Good food, friendly owners, friendly staff. Wish they had valet parking as we could not go on several occasions as no parking was available.\r You get your moneys worth and don't leave hungry. Keep up the good work.\r Would recommend putting up crash barriers as the restaurant is on one of the busiest intersections in Bay Ridge and the glass fronts are very vulnerable. We see these kinds of accidents every day on TV. more

Very Good and inexpensive 6/17/2008

I have to disagree with a couple of these reviews. Ive been going to casa for a few years and I think the food is very good. I also think the staff is very friendly and not rude at all except for one waitress. The food is inexpensive and delicious. Always clean and never seen anything gross or disgusting. The new owner that bought it a few years ago has done a great job in keeping it clean. I would recommend this place to anyone. Everything is made fresh and daily and made right in front of you. The pizza is very good especially the grandma pizza. Pros: good food , inexpensive, clean, friendly staff Cons: not one of the fanciest places more

Order from here very often and I've had 3 parties catered by these guys 6/1/2008

I order from here often. My husband loves the potato crockets and eggplant rollatini. I had 3 parties catered with these guys and they do an awesome job! The kid they have to help set up the catering trays is very professional and helpful. I have to disagree with the other reviews. I think Casa Calamari in Bay Ridge is awesome. more

VERY BAD and Very Dirty 3/28/2007

Rude service, bad food and very dirty. The pizza used to be good. Even that isnt good anymore. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. There are insects crawling around this place as well and the mgmt could care less. Cons: MANY more

Gross 1/22/2007

This used to be an interesting fun place to go to. It's wet bar was great and it's menu a good value. Boy, have things changed. The service is god awful and has been so for a couple of years. The specials that made you want to go there often are gone and the food is mostly as bad as the service. On Christmas eve they had a sigh on the door that said ""last seating is at 6PM"". At 5:50PM we were first told that we could not come in then were told we had 5 minutes to order. The menu's were thrown at us while the waitress hovered over us. The scallops were broken and the pasta had a gallon of sauce on it.. We've tried several times over the last two years to see if they have improved but alas we've given up. more
