2/10/2014 DONT BUY A CAR FROM HERE! THEY SOLD A LEMON WITH 12K MILES AND THE SALES MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE ABOUT IT!!! THEY CLAIM ALL CARS UNDER GO A 125POINT INSPECTION BUT THEY DONT! PLEASE READ!!! THIS IS FOR CARMAX AUSTIN TEXAS\r I bought a TAN 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT, with 11,500 miles on it for $20,998 from Carmax, had it transferred to the NORTH AUSTIN LOCATION. Took it home and on Thursday 2/13/2014 it was making a loud noise in the engine. Called them and scheduled to bring it in on Friday 2/14/2014, they said they would look at it and if they had to replace something they’d send it to Dodge since it was covered under manufacturer’s warranty. My husband is a mechanic and says it was the radiator hose not sealed properly. They gave me a loaner Van, a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with 11,400 miles, its drove like a dream compared to the one I bought. Well on Saturday 2/15/2014 I went to see if anything had been fixed on the van I bought, they said they had no way of knowing this, and that they couldn’t tell me if it was on the lot or not. Also that they would not extend the 5day money back guarantee once it got fixed to see if it drove any better after repairs, EVEN THOUGH I TOOK IT BACK ON DAY 4! Well I ended up just returning it that day since it was already having problems with such low mileage. THE SALES MANAGER WAS VERY RUDE ABOUTH THE SITUATION, she had horrible customer service skills. SHE ASKED IF I NEEDED ANYTHING OUT OF THE VAN SINCE IT WAS PARKED IN THE SERVICE LOT, SHE LIED!!! saying she didn't know where it was, SHE ALSO TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE VAN WAS ON HER LOT THAT IT WAS CARMAXS PROPERTY EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR IT !!!!!!! (I paid for it I could take it if I wanted to keep it) SHE WAS A B*TCH ABOUT THIS!!! She asked if I wanted to buy the LOANER for $ 17,998, IT DIDN’T EVEN HAVE POWER SLIDING DOORS, it would cost $1,900 for power sliding doors, $1,700 for DVD PLAYER, and it wouldn’t have power lift gate, I would be spending more than the one I had originally purchased, so I said no and walked out. Well on Monday 2/17/2013 the CarMax Service Department calls me to let me know that a FEW PARTS including the RADIATOR HOSE NEED TO BE REPLACED and they will have to send it to DODGE, um WHY WOULD A VAN WITH 12K MILES NEED ANYTHING REPLACED??? IT WAS A LEMON!!! I am happy I returned or would be stuck with a van with a load of problems! THE SERVICE GUY CANCELLED THE ORDER SO WHO KNOWS IF IT WILL BE FIXED BEFORE THEY LIST IT TO BE SOLD. They did list the Loaner van online and didn’t even vacuum out the cracker crumbs from my kids before taking pictures, look it up 2013 Dodge grand caravan SILVER 12kMILES for $17,998. I did trade in a car, got $1,000 less than what it is worth, they will sell it for $3,000 more than what they gave me and they wouldn’t even sell it back to me, it and the van I returned are currently not listed but sure that will change in a week more

First off they only gave me $2000 for my car which is worth about $6500 blue book and the no haggle price is a joke because they were over $2000 by the Kelly Blue Book on the car I bought. The first day I had the car I had to call a tow truck because I couldn'et get it out of park. It was a convertible and the top was not closing properly and the car was not in alignment it was veering hard to the right. SO MUCH FOR THE 125 POINT INSPECTION. Do not buy your car there. more

After waiting half an hour or so to receive my ""offer"" the staff person took several minutes to explain the inspection of my vehicle (11 y/o Camaro, good condition, one owner, lots of new parts/work under warranty) and announced they would give me $600 for my car, well under the KBB value. I basically laughed and said no way and waited for my keys. What a joke and waste of time. I later sold my car to an individual for my asking price of $2500. Do not even stop here to consider doing business with Car Max unless you take pleasure in throwing away money! Cons: Terrible deals more

Well I had an idea and tried to trade my truck in to get a small car to be able to pay ahead on some bills. 2 months ago I had a small car and I got $8k (2006 lancer 20k miles) for the car. So I walk in there, I explain to someone that I had spoken to a guy on the internet. I ask for this guy and he can't help any customers. So I walk with a guy who goes into a room (he did not know I was behind him) He says, "" I don't want this guy! He has a truck and wants to sell it!!!"" So im like great first impression. I let it ride. They appraise my vehicle, and while sitting there he's giving me a spiel about how trucks are being cut in price and how they are pretty much not worth alot because of the gas prices etc. I get the appraisal back and they tell me $8,000 for my truck! So you're telling me that a small car with more miles and 1 year older is worth the same as my 2007 truck? These people are trying to bully or scare people into giving their trucks and bigger vehicles in for nothing! These guys are very rude and want to rip you off! Pros: They did have a ton of vehicles out there, but I never even got to look. Cons: They will try and rip you off for your vehicle! more

me and my fiancee \r decided we wanted a new car. I had a few payments left on my old car, but was ready that day to trade it in. I decided to go to car max as from their advertising they seemed like a easy no hassle place. i should have never trusted that. nothing about me was good enough, even though i have credit cards and we have previously bought a car with no problems. apparently each of us having 4 open lines of credit is not good enough for them. the dealer even told me it would be better if we had more bad credit than what we currently have. then they wanted as a last ditch effort for us to come up with 2000 on top of the 1000 we already had, and a co signer.oh and on top of that, we would not really get a choice of the car that they sold us. after telling them no way we couldnt do that, they kept us there trying to talk us into well nothing because there is really nothing they could do for us. my sister and brother and law went with us to get a car as well and they were fist told that they made 10 dollars a month less than their computer told them would be a good income. then they told them the same thing they told us. screw them. i went back to my old dealer and got them to sell me another car for better payments, with a couple of thousand knocked off the price with the down payment that i could afford. they were so rude to us when THEY decided there was nothing they could do for us and COMPLETLEY RUINED THE CHANCES OF EVER GETTING ME TO GO THERE AGAIN OR EVER RECCOMENDING THEM TO ANYONE. wich they could have avoided if they hadent told my fiancee that our car dealer was trying to screw us and wasent helping us by selling us another car. Pros: they do have a good selection Cons: they suppousedly cater to the average joe but expect you to have a ton of $ more
