While driving home, we plan our dinner date! 2/2/2011

We were holed up in a hotel after a flood in our house and decided we deserved a nice dinner out. I pulled out my trusty Driod and Googled away at Italian Restaurants in Houston. My husband is from back East so he raves about a family restaurant back home and for 5 years, we have tried to find a restaurant that is comparable. WE FOUND IT IN CAMPIONI!!! We started coming in November of 2010 and have made it a weekly ritual. We literally start planning our next meal while driving out of the parking lot. We recently started to meet friends there and they are also in love. We've decided to make it a date night between our two families. My husband even texted all his family (They mostly still live back East) and told them that he finally found something that might even be better than the P family's recipe. He always orders the spaghetti and meatballs, I have the lasagna and we always share the Mediterraneann Salad. The bread is simply amazing. a warm loaf of Focaccia with whipped butter. The owner always walks around and talks to the diners and it seems like the family is very involved, as he came out and I overheard him tell a customer he was taking his daughter home. It's a small family restaurant feel, which I love. My daughter is 6 months old and I think she already feels at home in her high chair with her bottle and puree in hand. I can't wait to puree some spaghetti and meatballs in our hand mill when she's old enough. We will continue to be regulars and I promise, if you go once, you will be too! (P.s. we almost live 20 minutes away but the drive is worth it!) more

Great Restaurant...no need to change a thing! 4/2/2009

My son and I are new to the area and this is our new favorite restaurant. I did not notice the "dated appearance" of other reviews, nor too much sauce on my pasta. This is a great place for a nice meal in a friendly, quiet, neighborhood atmosphere. more

""The Best"" 8/27/2008

I believe this restaurant is the best Italian restaurant in the state of Texas. Very affordable as well. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Fantastico 8/22/2008

Not only is the food the best Italian food you will have in houston it is at a great price with zero pretention. It is what it is and if you don't like it your wrong..........you may need to try it again. more

Great Italian Food 8/21/2008

Campioni is a small family owned restaurant in the Champions area. It is almost always crowded. Food is wonderful and service is great. Pasta, veal, chicken--all is good. If it's a cozy atmosphere you want, then this is not the place for you. But if you love good Italian food, don't miss out on Campioni! more

Love the Ambiance 3/20/2008

We order from here all the time through Take-Out Taxi, but this was our first visit. The food is always great and moderately priced. It's a perfect place for a tasty and satisfying dinner. The service is excellent, and the restaurant itself is charming. An elegantly painted mural adorns the entire eastern wall and the somewhat dated decor only adds to its charm. I definitely recommend this place. It's especially great for a family experience. Bring the kids! Pros: Charming Ambiance and Great for Families more

Big Disapointment for Italian/Pizza 11/25/2007

Mediocre at best. In desperate need of updated decor. Pros: Quick with kids pizza Cons: Food quality, location, ambience more

Even the picky paysans would love this place 11/8/2007

I recently visited Campioni's after a 15-year hiatus and found an expanded resaurant with a larger menu and the owners looking a bit older. I had a pizza and a salad and they were both delicious. Don't you just love non-chain non-formulaic restaurants with friendly, but not robotic service? ""Il Campionissimo"" of Italy, Fausto Coppi would be proud of this establishment! I'll be back before another 15 years pass. Nice lunch atmosphere consisting of neighbors and business folks. There are not enough well-run places like this one since the Wall Street crowd has taken over the hospitality and restaurant businesses. Pros: great chow, friendly service, decent prices Cons: tucked away off of FM 1960 although it has signage more

Campioni means Champion!!! 5/30/2006

Campioni means champion, and that they are! This restaurant, by far, has the finest Italian food in northwest Houston. The food is unlike any other, everything from their house bread, to their pastas, to the desserts are made fresh in house everyday. The cozy atmosphere makes you feel right at home, and the ambiance suits many occassions, such as a casual dinner to a romantic affair. The service is unmatched with friendly servers, who have an excellent knowledge of the menu, and prompt arrival of the food. Large portions, moderate prices, and tasty food make this restaurant #1!!! Pros: Food, Service, Value more

soooo good 8/22/2005

The food here is soo good! The atmosphere is very Italian-like. Ambiance can be a little better because I thought it would be more romantic. It's a typical mom and pops restaurant. But he pizza's and the CHICKEN SALAD are to DIE FOR! yummmmm Pros: Great Food Cons: Pricey for students, Cheap Ambiance more

Yhe Best Calazone! 6/13/2004

They have the best Calazone (spinach, sausage) and the best marinara sauce. The one close compitition is the Grotto. However campioni's is moderately priced, making it No. 1 on my list. Pros: Service, Pricing, food selection more

BEST ITALIAN in NW Houston!! 11/2/2002

We have been searching for over a year for a restaurant in the NW Houston area that serves good Italian food. Until now, we haven't been successful. This restaurant wins for the best food in NW Houston by far. The atmosphere is great and is a bonus. Their marinera sauce and their bread are the best. The sauce is the key to their wonderful dishes. Large portions too. The only negative is we wish they would include a dinner salad with their meals. As they are not included with the entrees, the salads are quite expensive for just a salad, but they are good. Pros: Great Marinara Sauce, Large Portions Cons: Expensive salads more

Best Italian on 1960! 9/27/2002

I love this place. I dine at Campioni's at least twice a week. The Chicken Remano is outstanding as are all the pasta dishes. Service is always top notch and very friendly. Very fesh food. I would say the only drawback is a rather limited wine list, though the list has a little something for everybody. Pros: Fresh food, pasta Cons: small wine list more

ITALIAN PARADISE 8/28/2002

Don't know how this jewel got overlooked in 2001! Fresh wonderful food, casual atmosphere and great service. What else would you want? Only worry is that it will become too popular. One visit and you'll be going back regularly. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Nightly Specials Cons: Parking, Pizza..too gourmet, House Dressing more
