I strongly suggest anyone looking for a place to rent, look elsewhere. I signed a 3-month lease, which began on Oct. 4, and told the leasing office I was purchasing a house and would likely move out prior to the end of the three months. Apparently this should have been recorded and/or written for the record. Subsequently, I signed a notice to vacate a month prior to the end of my lease, turned in my keys and gave them the address of our new house. While I was on the lease through 1/7, the office told me they had already begun showing the unit, which was left in excellent condition. We wished each other the best and off I went. Fast forward to February and this complex is now charging me an additional fee for not providing 60-days notice, they kept my deposit and have turned the balance over to a collection company without so much as a letter, phone call or email - which they had all three.\r
I am absolutely incensed by the detestable tactics used by Calais and their parent company, MAA Apartment Communities. These folks are white-collar criminals - so renter beware.
