Never Book a Banquet! 11/18/2010

Don't ever count on this restaurant to provide what they say they will for a banquet! I booked my son's rehearsal dinner 6 months in advance and the day of the event I found out that they had reduced our room space to 1/2 the room rather than the 3/4 that had verbally been agreed upon. Lesson...get a written contract when working with their banquet manager as she is certainly not in the business of doing what's right. I heard many versions and excuses from her when I questioned their errors (smaller and very crowded room, cash bar rather than hosted bar, wrong desert served) In the end she acted nasty and like I should be grateful for the insignificant adjustment that was mande to our bill after we got the credit card company involved. It's a shame that she had such little respect for a very special day in our family's life. She at least should have been truthful, gracious and apologetic. Never again! more

Never Trust Cajun's for a Special Event 11/17/2010

NEVER TRUST CAJUN'S WHARF to provide what they say they will for a banquet! Since I live in Houston, I started planning our son's rehearsal dinner 6 months in advance with many phone calls to their banquet manager (MG) and she assured me that all was going according to plan. Even as late as the day before the event we spoke on the phone and she never indicated that anything had changed except that she convinced me that we should do tables of 10 rather that the tables of eight as that would give us more space. (I should have known she was up to something then, but I trusted her). The morning of the event when we were setting up the video and sound equipment, I found out that they had reduced our room space to 1/2 the room rather than the 3/4 that had verbally been agreed upon. The room was very crowded and uncomfortable, a hosted bar had been agreed upon and when we arrived they were charging our guests for bar service. This was embarrasing to us. I had requested an extra table be set for guests who were arriving in town late and would join us for toasts, there was no extra seating and no room for it. To be fair, the food was very good ad the wait staff did a nice job although off the record they indicated frustration with the overcrowded situation. Lesson...DON"T TRUST CAJUN'S and get a detailed written contract when working with their banquet manager (MG) as she is certainly not in the business of doing what's right. I heard many versions and excuses from her when I questioned their errors, (none of which were consistent) She was like one of their crawfish, backing up and going a different direction, every time she was asked a question. In the end she acted nasty and like I should be grateful for the insignificant adjustment that was made to our bill only after we got the credit card company involved. It's a shame that she had such little respect for a very special day in our family's life. She, at least, should have been truthful, gracious and apologetic. Never again! more

I love it! 3/25/2006

I love going to Cajun's. I have been there for lunch, dinner and cocktails. The food is always great. The entertainment and ambiance cannot be beat here in the city. I would go everyday if I could. more

good job 11/2/2005

Cajuns Wharf is a great place to hang out for good food and a party atm osphere. I have been there several times and the waiters are always nice but service is slow. Prices are on the med. high end. The average meal will cost you around $25, including a salad or soup and drink.. Food isnt pure Cajun but a Cajun-ish seasoning of seafood. Give it 4 stars for food and 3 stars for service more

Great Memories in the Making 7/12/2004

Cajun's has gone under a 1.2 million dollar renovation in their bar, and it's fantastic. Combining rustic with a modern flare, it's a place where anyone of any age can have an awesome time. Cajun's mantra is about having a wonderful experience. It does take a little while to get the food, but if you want fast food, go to Taco Bell. Being privately owned, you don't get the hum drum effect of a chain restaurant. The clientel consists of repeat customers that can't get enough of the place (it's been open since 1974-75). If you haven't been there recently, you'll be in awe of the new bar, and many additions to the appetizer menu. Make reservations (for parties of EIGHT or more) in advance for holidays(Parties of 2 on NYE). Don't complain when there's a wait for 3 hours on New Year's Eve, you should know better. Pros: Always accomodating, Great nightlife, Friendly staff more

Is it a Bar? Is it a Restaurant? 5/21/2002

The place to be on Thursdays?! I guess if your plans are to hand out at a bar. The food side leaves a bit to be desired. It was noisy and the atmosphere was more like being in a rowdy college bar. The service was slow, with dinner taking over 45 to make it to our table. We had some oysters and they were fine. The steak was only fair, having a fair amount of gristle and cooked almost Med-Well when I asked for Med-Rare. The fish (Snapper?) my partner had was overcooked, dry and chewy, not to mention lukewarm. If you went with some buddies to a bar, this is the place - for a nice meal I won't be going here. Pros: Huge Deck, Large Groups OK, Huge Parking Lot Cons: Noisy, Poor Service, Poor Food Quality more
