The very worse service I've ever had 4/28/2008

When we first arrived we were ignored for several minutes. Finally a waitress came over and said that she would check to see if there was any seating available. Several minutes later she returned and said there wasn't anything available. She left! No options offered.Another girl came over and ask if we were waiting to be seated, we said we were and she said "let me see if we have a table available". She finally returned and said there was nothing in the dining room but she could seat us out front. We said that would be fine, so she said "Just wait a minute and I'll set up a table for you". We waited, and waited and finally seated ourselves. She finally came to take our order and rattled off a bunch of specials. I ask for a menu, she acted like that was an unusual request but said she would see if she could find one. She then ask if we would like water and we said yes, she left but never got the water. Finally our order was placed and we waited and waited again. One of the gentlemen at more

One of the best places in Eugene 4/23/2008

A really wonderful, unique place. The food is wonderful. On my birthday, we got the Bananas Foster--which the chef came out and made in front of us--setting it on fire and everything. It was a great show and then amazing to eat. more

Great Food 4/14/2008

Cafe Soriah serves fantastic Middle Eastern cuisine. The ambiance is also excellent. The only thing that keeps me from coming back on a more regular basis is price. (I need to try going there for lunch to help with that.) more

Worst in Eugene 2/26/2008

My husband and I came here for dinner and he ordered a tenderloin, there was no taste to it! It was horrible, so they offered to make him the Ribeye. That was even worse! He ordered it Med-Well and it came out so BLOODY it was not edible. I had the Quail and it was blooding inside! I was so excited to eat hear after hearing friends talk of how well the food was, boy I was dissappointed! I will never go back and I suggest that you never go either. You will waste your time and money! Pros: There were none Cons: Read my description! more

hype 12/19/2007

Our group tried the chicken, beef, lamb and fish, it was all bad. The service was horrible. There was no effort since she knew that there was a 18% service charged added to our bill. We brought our own wine, the corkage was $15.00 and then they charged us another 18% service fee on top of that making the corkage $18.00 per bottle, very steep even for S.F., and N.Y. \r Our meal took three hours, very long waits between courses and our plates sat on the table while we waited. Avoid at all cost. Cons: very small and LOUD more

Lots of wine, lots of hummus 10/30/2006

Cafe Soriah is dim and romantic, with flickering candlelight and a very nice wine selection. The mediterranean appetizers and salads in particular are good and the most notable drawbacks of the place are perpetual chill in the air and slightly high prices. more

TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/30/2006

This was the worst, I mean the worst, dining I have ever expierienced. First, we had a reservation at 8:00pm and did not get seated until 9:00. We had to ask our waitress for bread three or four times before it was brought to us. We ordered wine with our meal and did not get it until dessert. The appetizers came after a long wait and were cold, and the meals were brought at the same time as the appetizers. The food was disgusting!! I could not eat my meal and had it taken back. I wrote them a letter about my concerns about their restaurant and they did not even apologize. Only if you enjoy being extremely frustrated and wasting money would I recommend this restaurant. Pros: flambee dessert Cons: everything else was terrible: lack of parking, bad food and service more

Fabulous desserts 7/4/2006

This restaurant is one of my favorites. Intimate seating (outdoor seating available in the summer), cozy- very romantic. Or, good for groups also.\r Great food- just the right size portions. Fabulous soups and bread. But, the best part of the evening is the dessert- at least 5 different desserts to choose from. \r Their special seatings for New Year's Eve (make reservations far in advance) offer a 5-course meal (including a glass of champagne) and are very nice for couples. Pros: Variety of food (vegetarian to steak dishes), dessert, seating Cons: Occasionally slow service more

Wow 1/8/2006

This place is amazing. The food is absolutely spetacular, the service is impecable and the atmosphere is close and romantic. This is the place to take a first date if you really want to impress. Me and my husband had our wedding dinner here with our family and this is where we go when we want to do something special. And did i mention the amazing food? WOW. Also the pricing is amazing considering the quality of food and service PROS: everything CONS: more

Disappointed and Over-hyped 12/3/2005

This place is either sometimes good or frequently bad. Its a shame for them that frequency conquers occasionally, as this place is bad far too often. While the food is some of the most electic one will find in Eugene, its the service that is the real kicker and unfortunately the cause for many bad experiences. A reservation will not always help and neither will bribing. Pros: Parking Cons: Service, Prices, Food more

Uninteresting, with rude service: Avoid 9/19/2005

The fact that Cafe Soriah has gotten any passable reviews indicates that people in Eugene don't get out to good restaurants very often. This place is totally bush-league, with dated food, confused presentation, low-budget surroundings, and rude service--but high prices. The big deal is 1950s flambeing (Steak Diane!), though the flambe cart blocks all traffic when they bring it inside. The food is simply old middle-American; the claim of ""mediterranean"" means they have a hummous appetizer. The bread is good, but not worth a visit. Quality of the servers is below that at McDonalds, but the same general level of training. Stay away. more
