this was one of my favorite restaurants in chicago, but no more. the owners have replaced it with a shell of it's former self. they have taken away all of their regular menu items and replaced it with their banquet menu. went there for valentines day and was so disappointed that I will never get married again. it is a sham, farce, dupe whatever you want to say against their former customers who held a warm spot in their hearts for this onetime chicago favorite. if you want a piece of chicken, fish or steak with mashed potato and carrots and broccoli then enter at your own risk. I will live with the memory of what it used to be. more

I personally love this place. It feels like home when i go there! Very friendly atmosphere and polite people make every visit so special! Would live there if they would allow me to :))) Pros: great location, delicious food, reasonable prices Cons: none so far more

Fine Dining at its Best! 10/27/2008

I am very particular when it comes to fine dining. Cafe La Cave has met all my expectations! It has a romantic, intimate ambiance. Great host and wait staff. The food is wonderful, especially the table side prepared steak Diane. Very convenient location to the All State arena and O'Hare. Highly recommended! more

Worst service 10/13/2008

I have personally been to many restaurants around Illinois and this by far has been the worst service. Management and reception were rude and judgemental toward the new customers. It is as though they are trying to push new comers away. I definitely did not appreciate the hostess looking at me and other customers up and down. There was no smile or welcoming feeling from her. The food was fair but unexpected for an expensive restaurant. The decor was nice but too dark and uncomfortable. Too small when there are too much people. Disappointing! Pros: Restaurant close to Alstate Arena Cons: Bad service, expensive and not worth it more

Beautiful place to have a reception or just dinner. Food is fantastic and service is impeccable. Be careful when hosting an event- if you ask management at Cafe La Cave for a recommendation, the vendor will have to pay a commission (which will most likely be reflected in your price) if you agree to use their services. Also, for such an exclusive venue, they should not be charging extra for pin-spot lighting, napkins, and floor length table cloths- this should be standard. Great Atmosphere 11/25/2002

Experience Romance 9/4/2002

From the first step into Cafe la Cave, we knew we entered a special place. The interior design and decor were exquisite, and created a romantic atmosphere. Cafe La Cave should be towards the top in the special occasion/banquet category. The wedding tables looked picture perfect on walkng into the banquet room. The hors d' oeuvres, soups, salads and main courses are all exceptional and cater to both traditional and avant-guarde tastes. Yes, its a pricey plate for your guests but worth their value. The service was very good with very attentive waitstaff and busboys. Finally, your guests will talk for years to come about their desert table. A future brides dream come true. DREAM WEDDING WITH A WHEELCHAIR 6/12/2002

June 24, 2001- our wedding was truly unforgettable!!!!!!! Even though the groom was in a wheelchair (he broke his ankle a week before) and he was in major pain from his surgery, our reception was a dream come true. Randy and Carrie were out of this world!!! they took care of everything from the food, entertainment, our guests and making the groom comfortable on our big day. By the end of the night, we forgot he was in a wheelchair from all the fun we had. The staff made everyone feel so special !!! thank you.
