Delicious Crepes! 9/10/2010

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the crepes they have here!! I have been here more than a few times and it has never let me down. The service is not always the best though. It can get super crowded at peak hours and it can be hard to find a place to sit and it could take a while before you get seated. All that aside, the nutella and strawberry with cognac crepe is sooooo amazing. I have always shared it with one other person and it has always been enough (as long as you are not dying of hunger and just want a dessert or something to share), I have also had breakfast here and their food was good for breakfast too. Can't wait to go back again soon! more

Decent food. Service was horrible. 2/27/2010

My girlfriend and I came in last night from out of town and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly and asked if we could start off with any drinks. We got our waters and then she came back and asked if we were ready to order and we weren't quite ready yet. She came back in about 5 minutes (nothing wrong with that) to take our order. We get our food in about 5 minutes and it was enjoyable. But after we got our food was when all the bad news started. Our original waitress apparently went on break without telling anybody as I saw her indulge on a sandwich in the corner. The new waitress was covering the entire restaurant. Only two tables were empty. My water cup was empty sitting on the edge of the table for about 15 minutes. Not once did this waitress look at us. By this time, my girlfriend and I's food is off to the edge of the table as well as we were done already. We were waiting for somebody to come ask us if we needed a box or the check. Nothing. Finally after about 35 minutes of just sitting at the table doing nothing, the waitress comes out of nowhere, places our check on the table, says "thanks" and just turns around and vanishes. We finally asked for a box and got the hell out of there. No tip. We saved room for dessert because we both wanted to share a crepe. No way in hell we were staying at this place. We wound up going to Acadie Hand Crafted French Crepes around the corner on Arizona for a banana-Nutella crepe. It was amazing! We should've just went there in the first place. Pros: nothing really Cons: service more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE ! Place is EVIL ! 7/18/2009

Our chicken sandwich (chicken paninni) arrived without chicken in it. When confronted, the waitress started convincing us that it is a shredded chicken and it can not be seen ...what ????... she ended up sending it back to the kitchen... in 15-20 minutes we just asked for a check intending to leave the place. Manager showed up with an attitude and made a big deal that he's giving us biggest favor not charging us for the sandwich that we never ate. Charged us for french fries order that was sent back to the kitchen and never eaten. Manager didn't handle situation well, didn't care for customer, showed attitude. NEVER AGAIN CAFE CREPE !!!!!!!! Pros: location Cons: ill service, mediocre food, immature manager, dumb waitress more

Great crepes, great location, cheap alcohol and cool atmosphere 2/8/2009

I found this place recently and I have become adicted to their apple-pecan salad and nutella and strawberry crepe. Service is friendly and the food gets to you fast. I coul not believe their prices on beer, $3.00 for a pint and pitchers for under $10.00 on the Promenade! Insane! My family and I come here now once a week before a movie. I read the bad reviews and I can not beleive the bad experiences people had here ;well to each its own. If things change I will post it Pros: great food, good value, great location, friendly service Cons: Parking around the promenade can get tricky more

Worst crepes and cold cappuccino..!!!! Skip it..!! 1/17/2009

Ok, anyone that says these crepes are excellent needs their tast buds examined! I stopped by just for a cappuccino and a strawberry crepe for dessert. I was watching the preparation and knew I was in for a less than stellar treat when I saw the "cook" pull the crepe out of a steamer pot.....first clue! So when they delivered the crepe, it was cold and the thing was so tough I had to use my knife! Listen, I've had "real" crepes before and this ain't it, trust me. PLUS, they had to re-do my cappuccino 3 times before it was delivered hot...and it had so much foam, there was only about 1/4 inch of actual coffee...got that for free but still was charged 11.00 for the cold, dry "crepe"....run don't walk from this place!!! Pros: nothing I had Cons: cold coffee, cold crepes and dry as a bone...yuck! more

hot girls 9/22/2008

My friends and I came on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. The blonde hostess was extremly hot, and very personable and friendly. Although it was very busy, she got us seated quickly, cleaning and setting the tables herself. The waitress only made it even better. She was very nice and not bad on the eyes. Service was not slow at all, especially considering how busy it was. The sweet crepes were very good, a good selection of food also, not just crepes. We then went to a sports bar the next weekend, only to realize the girls were not only nicer, and more personable at cafe crepe, but hotter also! We now regularly attend cafe crepe for not only the addicting nutella bannana crepe, but also the hot girls. more

Great Crepes, Shouldn't be Rated so low 7/24/2008

This is a pretty great little stop in on the Promenade, and though I've definitely had slow service here it's generally because the place is so busy. I don't know about their other food, but their crepes are incredible. As far as being authentic goes, they taste just like any crepe that you would pick up in a train station anywhere in Europe. I've lived there too (like the nay-saying previous reviewer) and these crepes are honestly just as good as most you would get in Europe. Sure, you can find better there, but for the most part these are some of the best crepes you are going to find this side of the Pond. So, shut up and try this place. more

The worst dining experience 6/23/2008

By far the worst dining experience I have ever had. We came on an early Saturday eve, It was an immediate sitdown. Two cutesy girls and one waitor on staff and a bevy of other guys doing who knows what. I had two out of town guests and two children with me. I am a local. We were brought our drinks - sodas and ice tea and after 25 minutes the server comes and takes the order. 35 minutes later and a couple of eye contacts, we finally got served. The dishes were not as ordered. No ice tea or drink refills at all in the course of the hour+ we were there. the tables on each side were served and finished in the time we sat there. I was told later on because they ordered "crepes." The manager comes over to say he was sorry and I explain the issues I am having, he says well, they are understaffed today, its crowded, just excuses. He says they will get the sauce. (we have already waited 15 more minutes for just a side of the alfredo) And I told him "Dude, if you were having issues, you should let us know, as I have children here, that there will be a wait. There was no wait we were sat down immediately." The next thing out of the latin manager's mouth was "My name is not dude, don't call me dude, and you can leave" I told him I will leave. When the children finished. I said I am saying dude in a nice tone as I could use something else for his harassing me. He then told me to leave again, I said I will, I will call the owner and I will write a review, when the children are done eating." He leaves, comes back and all of a sudden he's helpful, comping the kids and my meal, trying to refill drinks I told him no, we are leaving when the kids finish, you had your chance to service us. He comes back again, I am furious, leave us alone, i say nothing, he says that he will comp the whole meal, I thank him. The kids finish I tip the poor new waitor and left. These guys do not want customers. They should not be in service. Their manager is indignant and rude. Pros: conveniently located when the promenade is packed Cons: Completely lacking in customer service more

  • This lively spot right on the corner of Broadway and Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade is a favorite among kids, European tourists and beachy locals who are devoted to the ginormous menu of sweet and savory crepes--48 in print, but you can custom make your own too. Black pleather booths and banquettes line a burgundy-washed room hung with colorful vintage French posters. Watch the crepes being made in the front window--it’s a fun show--and choose savory combos like Swiss and mushroom, spinach and feta, ham or smoked beef. The house specialty is the Nutella crepe--alone, with banana, or a fancy version with strawberries and cognac. Grilled panini, French onion soup, salads, burgers, steaks and breakfast all day with dishes like eggs benedict round out the menu.
