Terrific Animal Clinic.\r \r Doctors Peek and Metcalf met their calling here. Best vets in the business. They've saved my animals and I trust them completely. Vet Techs are so kind and compassionate towards your pets. They are also very thorough. Office staff gets kudos for always being there for me even in the bad times and they will do everything to help you. I just love all these guys. \r \r Stephanie D. more

Dr. Christopher Peek is the best in his business. Dr. Peek has saved several of my cats and I owe him a great debt of gratitude for giving them back to me. He is a kind and compassionate doctor. He is thorough, experienced and professional. Explains everything in the nicest way. Dr. Metcalf is also a wonderful doctor but that's a different review. His office staff is there when you need them through good and bad. They never let me down.\r I love this place. You will too! more

Surgery to remove a Hematoma- NOT!! 10/13/2011

My dog was with my brother and his dog for a long weekend. We picked him up on a Tuesday night and Wednesday evening noticed a big mass on his hip, that wasnt there the day before. We took him in the next day to Dr. Metcalf who said it was a tumor and needed to be surgically removed! He felt the bump but didnt really take a sample. They scheduled my dog for surgery the next morning, to have this so called tumor removed. My husband and brother said that doesnt make sense , as a tumor can not pop up over night, and to get a second opinion which i scheduled for the that next afternoon. The girls at the front desk called that Friday morning to see if the dog was coming in for surgery and I explained that I wanted to get a second opinion before we put the dog out to have major surgery. A few minutes later the front desk called back to get monies for the appointment the day before, which while I was giving her my credit card number, the actual vet beeped in. A few minutes later the front desk called back to get monies for the appointment the day before, which while I was giving her my credit card number, the actual vet beeped in. He told me the results of the thyroid test (which was also done while in there for his mass) and then told me I owed money, in a tone that I think he thought I was going to skip out on that bill. I told him I was on the other line giving a cc number. He then went on to chastize me about how he had never been second guessed and that I would take my dog elsewhere, it was a tumor and that someone else would have to do the surgery but they would probably be cheaper. It was CRAZY! After that call, I decided that even if it was a tumor, I would not let them do it! We had been there 3 times and that call was not one I could forget!! Well, you will all be thankful to know that it was a Hematoma and all I had to do was give the dog an antibiotic. It was gone in two weeks WITHOUT surgery. So dissapointed that someone would just tell me to put the dog under for surgery and chop it off!! I will say the front end girls and vet techs were nice, but you couldnt pay me a million dollars to use this vet again!! more

DAVIS BLVD ANIMAL CLINIC 3/23/2011

I have recently moved from California and interviewed several Vet's for my 2 Japanese Chin dogs. I selected this practice due to the knowledge and expertise of Dr. Metcalf. I was informed my oldest has heart problems and was told by 2 other Vets to put him down due to his age.Dr. Metcalf prescribed medications a year ago, and my boy is doing just great! I know this is eventaly going to be a sad endinf, but he has time to enjoy life, to his best medications. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and efficient. I believe in loyalty, and qill never go any place for the care of my boys. Sometimes, one likes book smart Dr's----------but I like hands on knowledge, so this is my choicd. On a scale of 1-10 I rate this practice for my dogs a 15! Trudie more

Good vets 1/25/2011

Reading the reviews, I had to agree with most of them. First off, the only two vets I will see are Drs Metcalf and Peek. The woman vet is awful, as if the guy that fills in on Saturdays. Now both Drs Peek and Metcalf are abrupt (sometimes to the point of surly), but they have gold hearts inside their gruff exteriors. Case in point, my female schnauzer broke her leg. The emergency clinic charged me $900 plus wanted another $4500 to do surgery. I waited until Monday and Dr Metcalf set her leg in a cast. She wore this cast for 6 weeks and subsequent x-rays revealed her leg is healed. more

Anger issues 9/7/2010

I give them two stars because everyone was friendly and nice, except for the vet. My dog hates to go the the vet, and the vet tech did wonderfully with her, even though my dog was struggling. Once the female vet entered, who I had not met before, her anxiety level shot up a few notches. After struggling to do the exam and give shots, the vet actually began screaming at my dog! She pointed her finger in her face, and yelled at her two different times. My dog was shaking all over, which I have never seen her do. Afterwards, she tried to explain that she talked to animals like they were little kids-I'd hate to be a small child around her! I paid my bill and left, and will never set foot in that place again. more

I have never written a review. This is one I feel compulsed to :) 8/28/2010

Why take your pet there? Because the staff-doctors (DVMs), Assistants, well everyone, love their job. \r 1.They are very gentle. Yes, even with you; not just our pets. \r 2.They are amazing about reminder updates. ( And even "sweeter", they call in the very next day to see how your pet is doing. \r 3.Not hard to locate. Not chaotic, lol. They are well spoken/clarity and not "non-chalant". They direct you to the appropriate room and tell you what you are waiting for. :) they are just so very clear with instructions and validations you'll need. \r 4.Of course -Clean medical office. \r 5.Staff! Quick. Nice. Helpful. Knowledgable. Prompt to be honest if they are not /not exactly "sure of " They might not be hyperactively, nor talkative and some may interpret that as "not friendly" however, reconsider that choice of word and perhaps just remember that we are all different. They will not be intrusively talkative. They will not insult another clinic and they certainly request transfer from your pr more

20 years of warm, caring, professional service. No greater Vets in my opinion. Dr. Peek has always caring and loving of my furbabies and given awesome care to my babies. In 20 years of service I can not find one thing I did not like or appreciate. They always kept me informed by phone when one had surgery. No better place to take your babies!! more

Disagree with negative comments 1/16/2010

This is an awesome group of people. Having animals is exspensive in its own right. I enjoy everyone's company there and have always first rate treatment. They did their best to save Charly's and Gabby's lives (they did) while just as I did, tear up when I had to put Goldie to sleep. Cannot recommend them enough. I have four dogs and two cats and wouldn't hesitate taking them there. more

Wonderful vets and awesome staff! 8/28/2009

Dr. Metcalf is the best vet my animals have ever had. Caring, trustworthy, patient, empathetic...I could go on and on. Take your pets here, trust me. They don't rip you off or prescribe unnecessary meds. The staff LOVES every animal that comes in there and makes them feel special. Note to anyone reading this...if your animal is dying it will cost some money to try to keep them alive. That's just the way it is! Rest assure, these guys will let you know when your animal's quality of life becomes too poor to go on. more

Good Vets 11/5/2008

Having worked in the animal world for awhile, I am very wary of Vets & how thye treat my rescued Boxers. I have a 13.5 y/o, a 3.5 y/o & an 18 mth old. All were either my fosters or rescues through Sav-A-Paw in Flower Mound. Granted, Dr. Peek & Dr. Metcalf are a bit abrupt & they sometimes suggest things for my old dog that doesn't seem reasonable, I still believe they are good Vets. Bedside manner is only for the huimans, not for the animals. I believe that both Drs. are knowledgeable & caring. They've always been very good with my animals. Having a 13.5 y/o Boxer is proof enough. more

Davis Blvd Animal Clinic 3/17/2008

I have only lived in Texas for a short period of time, but needless to say I have 6 animals in which need care of. I have taken them to several different clinics, but this one is it for us! I first went and had Dr. Peek and was not very satisfied. He seemed as if he had somewhere better to be rather than take care of my dog. Afterwards, I brought her back for a check up and Dr. Metcalf was dealing with her and I was very satisfied and impressed with the knowledge and care he took care of my Baby. Ever since I have brought my animals there and have been very satisfied with their prices and employees. I have only seen Dr. Peek that one time, but that was enough for me. Dr. Metcalf is the only vet my babies will see!! more

Caring and knowledgable 3/17/2008

I have been going to Drs. Peek and Metcalf for years with my many animals (both my own and strays) and have always received great service at a reasonable price. They can usually see me within days and if it's an emergency they'll fit me in right away. They do not perform unnecessary surgeries and do not prescribe unnecessary medications. I feel confident that my animals are being diagnosed and treated properly and that's why I'll never go anywhere else. They are also more than willing to answer my many questions and print out any information that they deem helpful. Also, their technicians and receptionists are unfailingly polite. My furbabies won't go anywhere else. more

Depends on which vet you get. 3/7/2008

I love Dr. Metcalf, he's great with my dog. Dr. Peek on the other hand seems to be annoyed with animals. Maybe its just my dog but after a really bad experience with him I refuse to see him anymore and I ONLY go to Dr. Metcalf. The rest of the staff is good, friendly, knowledgible more

Compassion and Care 2/27/2008

Dr. Peek has been my vet of choice for many years. He is knowledgable and is very caring toward my many animals including a few strays I have brought in. I highly recommend him. I have known him to go back after hours and go in early to check on animals that were sick. His staff has always been friendly and kept me updated on when I had to leave a pet for surgery. They have worked hard to accomodate my busy work schedule. I would not go anyplace else. more

Horrible experience! 2/20/2008

Don't take your dog or cat here. I was a little worried when I took my dog in to get boarded for a week because the people were rather rude. When I returned to pick up my dog, his toy wreaked of urine (he is completely potty trained) and there is no way he would pee all over his toys unless they didn't take him out as they said they did. DONT GO HERE! more

Best Vets in the area 1/18/2008

I have been coming to Davis Blvd Animal clinic since I was 7 years old. Dr. Metcalf has watched me grow up and has cared for all of my precious pets! He has always been kind, compassionate and straight forward. I particularly adore his vet tech Troy! Talk about compassionate! Troy has been his right hand man for years and does a great job! Dr. Peek is a perfect compliment to the team and I enjoy his smile and sense of humor! The front desk staff is always helpful and makes sure that my little furry babies are cared for! They are an amazing clinic! I recommend them to everyone! more

Disease of the eyes 8/29/2007

We have seen Dr. Peek several times this past year. My Brittney has a disease of both eyes where his immune system does not recognize his eyes as being part of his body. It's been hard for me and him. I believe Dr. Peek has saved his eyes, for now. He takes drops in his eyes each day. When I call they are so kind and caring about getting his meds soon as possible. I have a big thank you to the clinic for their support. The meds are expensive, but the vets don't get those free, so neither do the patients. Having an animal is costly, but most are willing to try and save their animal. more

Dr. Joe Metcalf at Davis Blvd Animal Clinic 2/15/2007

This was the 3rd vet that I had gone to when my dog (Airedale) had some blood in his rectal area. Nothing anyone had done had helped. Dr. Metcalf diagnosed it quickly, did a nice neat surgery on the area, and my dog has never had another problem with it again. I have been loyal customer ever since. Dr. Metcalf can sometimes (only occasionally) appear to come off as speaking abruptly, but don't let that put you off! You are not there for their personalities, you are there for COMPETENCE. And Dr. Metcalf is quite competent and knowledgeable. more
