Review content:
My dog was with my brother and his dog for a long weekend. We picked him up on a Tuesday night and Wednesday evening noticed a big mass on his hip, that wasnt there the day before. We took him in the next day to Dr. Metcalf who said it was a tumor and needed to be surgically removed! He felt the bump but didnt really take a sample. They scheduled my dog for surgery the next morning, to have this so called tumor removed. My husband and brother said that doesnt make sense , as a tumor can not pop up over night, and to get a second opinion which i scheduled for the that next afternoon. The girls at the front desk called that Friday morning to see if the dog was coming in for surgery and I explained that I wanted to get a second opinion before we put the dog out to have major surgery. A few minutes later the front desk called back to get monies for the appointment the day before, which while I was giving her my credit card number, the actual vet beeped in. He told me the results of the thyroid test (which was also done while in there for his mass) and then told me I owed money, in a tone that I think he thought I was going to skip out on that bill. I told him I was on the other line giving a cc number. He then went on to chastize me about how he had never been second guessed and that I would take my dog elsewhere, it was a tumor and that someone else would have to do the surgery but they would probably be cheaper. It was CRAZY! After that call, I decided that even if it was a tumor, I would not let them do it! We had been there 3 times and that call was not one I could forget!! Well, you will all be thankful to know that it was a Hematoma and all I had to do was give the dog an antibiotic. It was gone in two weeks WITHOUT surgery. So dissapointed that someone would just tell me to put the dog under for surgery and chop it off!! I will say the front end girls and vet techs were nice, but you couldnt pay me a million dollars to use this vet again!!
