I wouldn't give them the light of day 7/10/2009

As some may not know this restaurant has moved to the Westwoods area (64th & McIntyre). Even when it was on the North side it was bad. It's a shame that the original 3 Sons had to sell thier name to the new owner (Michael) because he is a terrible person to have taken this name of a restaurant and ruined it! The prices are rediculously over priced and Mike treats his employess terrible, I've actually seen him yell at them in public....I would tell him to bag and leave. He sends food to your table that you haven't even ordered and than charges you for it! The food isn't that good either! Oh just wait in a few months he'll start treating the new customers in that area like s_ _ _, believe me I know and his prices will go up sky high. Pros: Wait Servers Cons: OWNER more

Got (a lot) of time and money to burn? 6/30/2009

Hard to believe that the current owners earned a good reputation in the old location in Denver. I felt cheated out of my money and time after experiencing a meal at the new Arvada location. Appetizers were undewhelming. The meal took more than 90 minutes to be served, and no one asked about or brought a second serving of small rolls. Dinner was the caliber of a frozen and microwaved entree from the Albertson's across the street. Almost two hours invested, along with more than $100. Save your money and time and go to the McDonald's across the parking lot. Pros: Nicely appointed restaurant Cons: Many, primarily extreme slowness more

Fond Memories 6/20/2009

We have been long time patrons of 3 Son's, over 17 years now and can't help but compare the new location to the old. Just a couple of comments: 1. We were sat 2 tables from the kitchen door and my hair kept blowing up every time the wait staff walked/ran past...which was constant. 2. Decor is beautiful but the new place is missing the coziness that the old place had. It reminded us of an upscale Panera's. The Bar area has a cold atmosphere, specifically around the windows. Many of our favorite menu items...fried chicken is no longer offered, and we were told that it would take too many fryers to support the orders they would receive...that didn't make any sense to us. You took a beautiful upscale restaurant that was more centrally located and moved it farther west into a shopping center with a dentist office and a McDonalds next door??? Not sure we will ever go back...our date night will never be the same again. We will always cherish the memories from the old place and for that, we thank you. Pros: friendly staff, Cons: location, seating layout more

Three Sons is tops! 10/25/2008

The cuisine is basically Italian with some slight variations, the prices are moderate to high, and the quality is outstanding. The martinis are very popular, but I was more impressed with the wine list of some 89 different wines varying in price all the way up to $350 a bottle. That is a little out of my price range and I opted for the 2005 Monte Antico Cabernet/Merlot blend. It was very nice for the price and went well with lunch that consisted of a shared Greek Salad and a Capellini di Angelo. Everything was fresh, just as expected, and nicely balanced. It was the perfect start to the rest of the afternoon and the walking tour adventure. The Ski Resort is scheduled to open November 7. If you are in the neighborhood to partake of all the winter fun the area has to offer, be sure to take some time to explore both the history of the town and the fine offerings at the Blue River Bistro. If you have a taste for history and a taste for good food, neither choice will disappoint. more

Diamond In The Rough 7/11/2008

I had no idea this restaurant was in North Denver, but am glad I found this place. My friends took me for my birthday and wow, this restaurant is beautiful inside! I went for the good old Manicotti in red sauce, but their menu had fish, chicken, veal, and vegetarian options. My meal was very filling and the red sauce, which is a homemade recipe, was very flavorful. Our waitress was very sweet and very attentive. I was given a complimentary ice cream sundae for my birthday and after being sang Happy Birthday to in Italian, I enjoyed a delicious Spumoni sundae! It's a Gem! Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

Terrible Just Terrible 3/5/2008

DO NOT EAT HERE! Terrible food, over priced and the Owner Micheal is a horrible man whom belittles his staff in front of the costumers. I was there the other night and my server was a very pleasant young woman, I guess another table had a problem and out comes Micheal and starts screaming at her and calling her names and wow what a way to ruin an over priced meal. My server was great and this man seemed way out of line. Even if she brought out the wrong food is this something that a professional really does in front of customers? And to top it all off I got the trots for three days after I ate there. NEVER EVER AGAIN Pros: My server Cons: The owner, the food more

Overrated 2/24/2008

We went to Three Sons this past weekend, based on some of the reviews posted here. The food wasn't awful, but it was definitely nothing to write home about. Both our main dishes (salmon and halibut, respectively) were bland and unimaginative. Desserts were overly sweet. The menu prices were steeper than many of the better-rated independent Italian restaurants around town. The ambience was clearly intended for an older, "regular" crowd, and as such I cannot see this restaurant really catering to anyone who is truly into the Denver restaurant scene. I would definitely give Three Sons a miss. Pros: Parking Cons: Food, Ambience, Price more

Started off shaky but ended GREAT! 2/17/2008

We were looking for some good Italian which is difficult to come by in Denver. We entered 3 Sons and at first glance you can?t help but notice the large bar area that is very inviting so we were rather excited to enter. We were seated promptly and took in the decor of the dinning area and felt like we were back east we were waiting for the Soprano family to enter and eat dinner there. Unfortunately, it took awhile for our server to come to our table but once the server came to the table things began to fall into place. The Antipasti Platter was great and well worth the money it has something for everyone on it and the flavors on the platter were fantastic. I order something traditional thought that would be a good test and I had the red sauce with my spaghetti it was phenomenal great flavor not too thick and not runny it was just right the noodles were done correctly and the portion was very large great value for $8 bucks. My boyfriend had the Rigatoni Pomodoro another large serving and the sausage had a nice flavor and the sauce was creamy and brought the whole dish together. We also had wine with our meal and whether you order by the glass or the bottle you can?t beat the prices. Wine selection is simple but complement your meal. Highly recommend going to 3 Sons a great meal for a great price and what?s not to like about a family owned restaurant. Pros: food value Cons: service more

HAIR IN PASTA 9/27/2007

We had been to Three Sons before and enjoyed our food and experience, so when our friends from out of town arrived craving Italian it was a no brainer to take them to Three Sons. As we were eating we found a long blonde hair in one of our dishes. When we showed the waiter he took the plate away and did not offer any concessions just an apology. It was so embarassing, here we were talking this place up on how great the food and staff is and then for something like that to occur and the waiter not even offer a desert was very disappointing. Needless to say I will never eat there again. STAY AWAY FROM THE HAIR! Pros: Ample Parking Cons: Hair in Food, Service Poor more

great food and atmosphere 6/22/2006

We celebrated Fathers Day at Three Sons. The food was wonderful, as well as the service. The decor was beautiful. There was 14 of us, and we all enjoyed it. Will definitely return! more

We felt like family 10/18/2005

3 Sons Italian was GREAT. From the time we were greeted to the time we were escorted to our car by the owner, it was an excellent experience. Our waitress was extremely helpful, kind, and on-the-ball. The food was excellent and even great as leftovers the next day. They really made sure we felt taken care of, including the complementary after dinner drink. Lets help them keep the place going. OH! And you must try the Italian Wedding Soup BEST Soup Ive ever had. Pros: Food, Staff more

Great food, great value 8/15/2005

Coming from Boston I've been schooled in Italian food and having worked in the hospitality industry for years, I know quality, value and service. I'll make this short and sweet. The menu offers a great selection of items and the pricing is excellent, considering bread, soup and salad are included with entrees. The food is well prepared and presented - they have some of the best soup I've had, especially the Wedding soup. The portions are hefty - don't fill up on apps unless you want leftovers. The service was a bit slow, but we've all been new in a job at some point in our lives. Go see Michael, the owner, and he'll make it known that he appreciates your patronage. Pros: Parking, Soup, The owner more

NOT the same old Three Sons 2/9/2005

As a former buyer for a company selling Italian products, I feel fairly knowledgeable about Italian food. Living in Highland, I had long heard the reputation of Three Sons as the worst Italian food on the planet. BUT, that was before the sale of the restaurant to the new owner. Based on a review in Westword, we checked it out. Every aspect was a pleasant surprise, from a great martini, through appetizers, entrees and desert. Excellent food, excellent value, great decor. It's like an old Jersey southern Italian restaurant in the best ways. Can't wait to introduce friends and guests to this experience! Pros: Food, Value, Decor Cons: None more
