Best

The food and atmosphere are both great. I usually get take-out from this place as its easy & always prompt. Food is outstanding; a little disappointed that they charged for rice.....

Worst

My friend and I recently had dinner here. The food and service was below average. The food was way too sweet! We also felt rushed. I do not recommended this restuarant. I hope ...

Yum Yum Chop Chop 10/25/2010

Our family loves this place. Quick, easy seating, standard issue good chinese food, reasonable priced, get in, get out. Chop. Chop. No pleasantries, and I am fine with that. more

Great food; very busy 5/11/2008

The food and atmosphere are both great. I usually get take-out from this place as its easy & always prompt. Food is outstanding; a little disappointed that they charged for rice... but seems to be happening at a lot of places these days. Pros: Great food Cons: Always busy more

Great Chinese Food 11/21/2006

Probably the best Chinese food in San Jose, certainly Willow Glen. I've never had anything I didn't think was very good here. The take-out is good and pretty quick. The service is usually good but can be slow. The place gets very busy on weekends. more

The food is wonderful. The decor is unbeatable. 11/13/2006

Do not go to Taiwan if you are a party of two. You risk being seated in the center bank of tables, where there is 1/2 to 1 inch of space between the tables. It is impossible to carry on a conversation without listening to your neighbors' conversations. You also have a not-so-lovely view of the waitress as she tries to angle into the minimal space between the tables to deliver your neighbors' meal. Pros: food, decor Cons: 1/2 to 1 inch of space between the tables for two in the center - no privacy, conversation impossible, food delivery impossibly difficult more

Consistently great Chinese food at Taiwan 11/13/2006

Located on Lincoln Ave. in Willow Glen, Taiwan always serves great-tasting Chinese food--Szechwan, Cantonese and Taiwan specialties. Inexpensive and a great value. Nicely decorated with pale-pink linens and large, dramatic and beautiful floral displays, as well as many original paintings. Always busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are recommended. They also do take-out. Favorites are Szechuan shrimp, Changsha chicken, hot and sour soup, many others. Always tastes great. Pros: Food, ambience Cons: Reservations are a must on weekends more

One of Best Chinese Restaurants in San Jose 9/17/2006

Nestled in Willow Glen is the Taiwan Restaurant which offers classy California-Chinese cuisine equal to Mandarin Gourmet (in Cupertino) and PF Changs. If you are looking for authentic homestyle Chinese food from a distinct province, search in San Francisco, Milpitas and Cupertino. If you are looking for a fresh, friendly, well decorated, and refined Chinese restaurant created for a California palette, go to Taiwan Restaurant. more

Wow! This is the place! 9/5/2005

Though I love Chinese food, I am a stickler for quality. Taiwan is great! It is family owned and delicious. Service is friendly, food prompt, and taste delicious. more

Go elsewhere.... 8/6/2005

My friend and I recently had dinner here. The food and service was below average. The food was way too sweet! We also felt rushed. I do not recommended this restuarant. I hope a good chinese restaurant opens in the area soon. more

overly sweet, gloppy Chinese food 5/8/2005

My husband and I were strolling in Willow Glen one evening and decided to try this restaurant out because there were so many people inside. The ambiance is nice, but all of the dishes we ordered came with sauces that were laden with sugar. This is definitely NOT authentic Chinese food, or even particularly good Chinese American food, but food for people who like whatever they eat sweet and swimming in sauce. We won't go back again, more

Outstanding! 2/8/2004

Taiwan is always busy because the food is just outstanding! The service is excellent and the prices very reasonable. Due to its popularity, it can at times be crowded and noisy. My favorites are the Mu Shu Pork, Hot and Sour Soup, Cashew Chicken - well, I guess I've never had a dish here I didn't like. And the fresh floral arrangements are magnificent. Pros: Excellent Service, Inexpensive, Fresh Food more

If you're hungry.... 9/16/2002

If you're hungry, this restaurant located in the cozy Willow Glen neighborhood isn't bad for American style Chinese food. I would not consider the food authentic Chinese/Taiwanese at all. However, the prices are cheap and portions generous. Waitresses are rather attentive and helpful even during busy nights. The decor is attractive with fresh bouquets of flowers everywhere. The food is satisfying and not prepared in a sloppy manner. Pros: satisfying food, nice decor, service more
