I used to work for Peter Prier. A week ago, I would have told you it was the best store in the world to go to if you played a string instrument.\r
This past Thursday, I was fired.\r
Because I have a pet bird.\r
\r
Let me elaborate. I have a pet starling. Y'know, the wild birds that nest in your eaves. Long story short, my coworkers know about him. I love him.\r
Two of my former coworkers are pregnant. One of them believes (wrongfully so, and I have documentation to prove it) that bird poo causes birth defects.\r
Things have been tense since I announced that I was not going to get rid of MY PET because of THEIR PREGNANCIES.\r
At the height of this conflict, I was admonished by several coworkers (not just them) that I was endangering human children over a bird.\r
To summarize my proof, for them to get sick from my bird, they would have to either a) ingest his droppings, while still fresh, or b) eat him. ALL of him. Without cooking him. Me touching him, washing my hands, and coming to work, does NOT meet either of these criteria.\r
\r
This was some time ago, and I had believed the conflict to be over. Until Thursday.\r
\r
Officially, my reason for termination was that my presence was causing a disturbance in the office. He said to me ""And, frankly, **** and ******** just don't like you."" The stars being the names of the pregnant ladies.\r
\r
I strongly discourage anyone from shopping here. If the man would treat his employees like that, how will he treat you as a customer?
