It was my first time being here and I loved it. Veronica is the absolute best. I had no idea what to do, but she had great ideas of what would work best for me. The salon itself was great as well. It's an upscale salon without the pretensious people, so you feel like your being well treated, but still feel comfortable and relaxed. Everyone there is super friendly and open so you feel like your on a day out with your friends rather than around strangers. You can even relax with a drink if you're so inclined! Although now living in California, Bryon is so good that I make a point of timing my visits home so that he can do my hair. His color and cut are always exactly what I want (and sometimes he has a better idea of what I really want than I do). And I love his new location at Jon Barton. Firstly I know Veronica has had amazing world wide training - in London, New York and LA; she keeps up with international training weeks and is right on target with whats going on in""hair"" - thats why I like her shes an expert. She also has worked for the Houston Opera for 9 years and they constantly rave about her talent and cannot do without her on any Opera. Veronica has been cutting my hair and coloring it for 8 years - I am always delighted with the results. She never cuts anything off I don't want her to - ie. she is not scissor happy like some! Her color techniques are superb and she is always good for a laugh when you sit in her chair! Good coffee or drink - great hair cut and fun conversation - what more could you want! I have been going to Jon Barton Salon since it first opened. Actually Terri, the owner, has been doing my hair since 1987 I believe. I have had good experiences with other stylists in the salon too. I absolutely wouldn't go anywhere else. It is very convenient to downtown - although I have referred friends and family who come from all over town. Terri doesn't push me into a change of style until I am ready (which sometimes takes a while), but she is great about telling me what will look good on me or how a style in a picture will look different because of my hair texture, etc. more

I have been a loyal customer at the Jon Barton Salon on Dunlavy for about 17 years. Prior to that I went from one salon to another trying to find someplace that would listen to my requests, give me great suggestions, and style my hair in a way that made me feel and look great. All this, I found at Jon Barton. The staff there is very professional and warm. The little house, which is the salon, is charming and gives me that neighborhood feel...unlike the larger, more modern salons that can seem cold and haughty. I love the location, which is close to the Texas Medical Center, where I work. In fact, it was a co-worker who referred me to Terri Smith, my hairstylist, and I in turn have recommended her to others in search of a great salon, and stylist. I get complimented on my hair color all the time, which is a testament to the service and attention to detail I receive at Jon Barton salon. More importantly, I LOVE MY HAIR! Don't know what the previous person was talking about. The parking is good for the Montrose area. It is in an old house that is charming. The people are warm and friendly. It was beautiful during the Christmas season. It is extremely hard to do red properly and I always come out with it perfect. In fact, when I travel and have my hair done I always receive compliments on the cut and color. Everyone involved with the shop is friendly and professional. I find it extremely hard to believe that money was thrown or that the staff acted any way that was not professional. I get a lot done to my hair and enjoy the ambiance there as well as the staff. It was my first time going to this salon as well as getting my hair dyed. When it was done I was pretty satisfied until I went home and realized that he missed several pieces of my hair which left my hair overall look streaky. I went and got it cut from a different salon closer to my house I didnt say anything about getting it dyed but she asked me if i had done it myself and for next time to take my time while doing it. I told her I had just had it done by a professional in which she demanded that I get my money back or have him redo it for free. I went back to Jon Barton and met with a woman there where she agreed that he did miss alot of pieces around my head and even tho she agreed to give me my money back she was not happy. She snatched my debt card from my hand and than threw it back at me and decided to throw cash at me instead of putting back on my card. I would never go back to this place the parking sucked, its in an old house in a not good looking neighborhood and if its your first time like mine dont tell them bc they will take advantage of you they told me 65 but when they found out it was my first time dying my hair it was suddenly 75! Natalie has been my hairdresser and friend now for 7 years..I knew her in Austin and let me tell you that this lady knows her hair! I am very dark headed and have been a blonde since I was 11 years old. Ive strayed twice from her and had my hair fried....needless to say I went crawling back to the guru of color and cut:) I have lived in Dallas now for 3 years, and drive to Houston in one day to get my hair done. If that doesn't speak volumes then I do not know what does. 8 hours is a long drive in one day, but the end result is fabulous!! As long as I live in Texas I will drive however far to have Natalie Watson do my hair! She is very talented and hands down she is the BEST. Excellent with color and cutting. You will never leave her.
