I went to this location of CD Warehouse today in an attempt to sell a few CDs and DVDs for some badly needed cash. My wife and I spent an hour or so doing research on going rates for CDs to avoid getting ripped off before we went and that really, really came in handy here.
First, the guy at the desk didn't look too closely at the stock I was trying to sell, then he asked what I wanted for them. I was taken aback, expecting for him to examine the merchandise then make an offer based on reasonable prices, etc. Instead, he insisted and offered a lame excuse like ""when you come in here wanting to buy I don't expect you to make me an offer. That's why we have price tags."" Yeah, thanks for the lesson in retail.....
Of course, I hesitated as he separated the CDs into three piles and waited for him to peruse the stock (without checking a database of any sort) and he still wanted an offer from me, so I gave him one: 70 dollars. My offer was a little higher than I thought we'd get. I expected the guy to haggle (if he wanted to play that game).
Instead, he seriously low balled, offering 25 dollars with a wealth of explanations and a look at a screen from Amazon... (never mind shipping, the ability to see the product, the advantages of in stock).
I went next door to a similar store. They were courteous and professional. They used their database to check prices and inventory. They offered me more than twice what this location of CD Warehouse offered. The other store didn't try to rip me off, and they weren't rude. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same of this particular CD Warehouse and will never do business with them again.
Pros: Um...it looks pretty.
Cons: Lack of customer service, dishonesty, etc.
