My cousin goes to polytech as an electrical engineer major. From my research, I can say that Polytech is definitely a school that should be considered if you plan to major in engineering oreven math. The math in this school is very challenging. But for people like me, who goes to HS not far from polytech, I wouldn't want to go - it's too close to my HS. more

Great Engineering College right in Brooklyn 7/1/2006

This is a hidden college in downtown Brooklyn which claims thousands of engineers, noble prize lauretes and other greats as its graduates. I attended an engineering program here and the professors were fantastic - hard, but fantastic. The school has a dorm and it's in an up and coming area of Brooklyn. The tuition is high, but work with the Financial Aid office and they can get you a good deal. more

Polytechnic is OK 8/14/2005

This is the university I am currently attending. First off, there are a lot of Polytechnic students who hate this school. It is not the most entertaining university one can attend. In fact, there really isn't much to do there. So if you're looking for a party school, this is wrong place to be. Education wise, I would say is somewhat good. The rigorous math program here at Polytechnic usually filters out the students who don't belong here. I came to this school knowing 30 students, now I only see around 8 from my entering class. A lot have left due to academic problems, financial problems, and disgust for the school. The administration for this school is bad, really bad. The president of the university is useless and incompetent. The tuition is raised yearly by 3%-6% and students are usually bombarded with loans the moment they graduate. What's worse about the tuition raises is that they have the nerve to offer a "contract" for students to sign that will charge them a higher price for tuition, but at a fixed price for their entire duration at the school. That is just their way of admitting that the tuition WILL be raised yearly and making themselves seem like the good guys by offering this "contract". That, to me, is what makes me hate this school. But with that said, they are very generous when it comes to financial aid. Overall, I would only recommend Polytechnic University to someone if they are looking to learn and willing to stand a few vain busting administration problems. more

Polytechnic University- Brooklyn Campus 8/5/2005

My sister went to school here as did a few friends of mine. From what I heard, it was a very good school if you're majoring in technology-related fields, such as computer science, engineering etc. The classes are very hard and advanced, so I assume the education is up to speed. The one problem that I heard often about was the teachers. Many of the teachers weren't native English speakers. They had strong accents and it was hard for students to follow along with class lessons or understand the course material because of this. The school recently built a new gym, however. And every student gets their own laptop (borrowed only I believe). The campus looks pretty nice as well. more

This is a great college to attend to if you want to major in engineering. This is one of the top engineering schools around. Engineering is a hard major but you will earn a lot of money. Things will be hard in this school but it is worth it because they teach you well to be a good engineer. This is a private school and the tuition is high. It will cost you around $25,000 for you first year in this college. more
