Busby's Restaurant Bar

Busby's in Santa Monica is awesome! Everyone who works there is super nice and helpful (well, nearly everyone). The food is greasy (most of it) but very good. There are tons of TVs all around the place and on the weekends you can dance the night away. Overall, two thumbs up! My friends and I swear by this place! This place is amazing. I had a great time with my friends thanks to our server Bridget. She was the best server. We were a big group and she ended up being the nicest, most beautiful girl there. We will go back just to see her. Big Mike was awesome too. He was so down to earth. We hung for a while and loved it. The food was great too. The menu is huge. Great time. I've been to this place twice. The first time around, it was a Thu night. The place was packed with a lot of good looking women from UCLA. Drinks at the bar were served promptly and the staff was generally attentive. The bartender did overcharge me on my credit card. Here's the deal - when you close your tab at the bar, they don't give you a list of drinks you've had through the night. Instead, they give you the total amount. I'm sure the bartenders get away with this with a lot of drunk people, but it's something to watch out for. Luckily, the numbers didn't make sense to me and I asked for a list, they gave it to me and then adjusted the bill accordingly. The excuse was that they had thought someone else (who wasn't even sitting at the bar with us) was on our tab as well. Nice try.\r The second time, it was a Sunday night - not too many people in the place. Staff was generally friendly and attentive. There were a couple of drunk, old, Irish men sitting on one end of the bar, one of whom proceeded to make blatantly racist remarks to someone at the opposite side of the bar. This went on for a while and when another customer at the bar got annoyed the bar tender stepped in and said the old man was drunk and that he was friends with him. He kept serving this obviously drunk person more beers instead of cutting him off. So, I guess if you're old, white and drunk, you've got a friend at the bar who is willing to back you up when you display your full bigoted self in public. Oh, and I went through the same issue at the bar with my tab this time as well.\r There are better places in Santa Monica to spend my money, Busby's isn't one of them. A nice place to have a relaxed after work cocktail or spend a fun girl's night out. There are many things to do for diversion at this joint. For example, playing pool, watching sports, table tennis, gaming machines and you can even dance, as there is a DJ spinning Rn'B tunes. I went there on a Thursday night and it was almost empty. I just returned from Busby's. The food was good and I liked the interior and atmosphere of the place. However, the service was poor. It wasn't that the waitresses weren't hustling, it was more a case of the place being woefully understaffed. We waited longer for service at our table than at any place I have gone to in LA and I have been to more than my share. Also, the lighting at our booth was so poor that I couldn't read the bill clearly. The total seemed about what I expected, but it wasn't until we left that I realized that we had been charged for an item we never received. We had requested the item, but were later informed that they were out of it. I also was charged $10 for a drink that had been advertised as $8 during happy hour. more

This is a great location for parties and meetin new peeps! Waitresses are all hot! Keep this on the down low....shhh! It does get busy so try to get there eairler as the bars get ridicuous at around the midnight hour. They have awsome games and pool tabls. RSVP's are the bomb! all i can say is that MY ID GOT REJECTED AND IT IS REAL. I am a legal 24 year old and the doorman wouldn't let me in! ha! clearly that just goes to show that this bar deals with a lot of wannabe underage students who have fake i.d.'s. It was really funny though. So we went to Holly's instead (which sadly has a lot of underage people as well, but apparently their doormen don't care). So oh well. I won't be going back because this was just too outrageous. I would like to give this bar no star rating at all considering i couldn't even get in the door, but city search requires at least one star. So there you go. more

I just celebrated a friend's birthday at Busby's, and while the bar was fun, I think it was moreso because we came in a huge group. The best part, though, is that Busby's has a FREE limo service. A huge limo bus picked up 25 of my friends from our apartment in Westwood and drove us to the bar! Fun place to go in a pack, but not so sure about on a regular night. I like this place enough to go there, but not enough to go there a lot. A wide age range frequents this bar, so don't be surprised if a 50 year old man who wants to show off his money starts hitting on you. It's happened to my friends and I on more than one occassion. Not cute. It's within walking distance from my friend's apartment, so we go to Busby when we have nothing better to do. They have a dj and dance floor, but it's way too small to consider. This is by far the WORST bar in town. Oh, it's a restaurant? Let me correct myself. It is bar none, the WORST restaurant in town. Ugh. I don't know what is worse...the crowd? the staff? the food? the music? This is a terrible place to watch sports if you have any interest in the game and it's even worse if you are hungry. I used to go to Busby's all the time: it was always crowded and preppy. Now, they changed most of their staff and the waitresses are rude and slow. The people are very low-class and there's no crowd anymore. They play music, but they don't have a real DJ and the songs are so 5 years ago. I just returned from my Bday party at Busby's. I chose it for the diverse food and drink menu and fun atmosphere. But apparently the crowd is so low-class that someone stole my camera right off my table while my friends and I were dancing nearby! The cocktail waitress reported it and the DJ announced it, but did anyone turn it in? What do you think? The place was fun but the staff didn't seem surprised or overly concerned with my loss. They had a cavaleir attitude and said I should check tomorrow to see if the cleaning crew found it. I won't be holding my breath, but I will be having trouble sleeping knowing that a gift from my Grandmother is gone, along with memories of a vacation and my party on my memory card. Some ""extremely rude person"" (ctysearch has censiree my real feelings) is the one who should be losing sleep!
