Best

Busby's in Santa Monica is awesome! Everyone who works there is super nice and helpful (well, nearly everyone). The food is greasy (most of it) but very good. There are tons of ...

Worst

I just returned from Busby's. The food was good and I liked the interior and atmosphere of the place. However, the service was poor. It wasn't that the waitresses weren't hustl...

Not a good place for sports!!! 4/27/2005

This place is good if you want to go in for happy hour after work or dinner on an off night. Other than that...it is filled with irritating people, and you have to pay a cover charge to watch an ex bus-boy spin. The Dj's are ok...but nothing I would want to spend $10 on. For sports, it is almost impossible to get your game on...the servers look at you like you are irritating them by asking to watch your game, and it is hard to se the TV's. If you are looking for sports I say no...If you are looking for a really crowded westside singles bar...you got it. more

The BEST!!!!!! 4/21/2005

If you haven't been here yet, you must go- and bring all your friends!!! Pros: Food, Service, Drinks more

Buyer Beware! 3/20/2005

Watch out if you are using your credit card at this place. They add 20% on tabs larger than $100 without tell you! I was about to add tip on top of the 20% they added, but fortunately asked to see the receipt of what I ordered, and that is only when they told me that they added 20%. I called the mgr later that week to complain. He was not apologetic. Pros: good looking crowd Cons: small dance floor, dishonest staff more

not fun 3/13/2005

We met some friends here for drinks. We left in about 1/2 hour. Its a weird vibe here. Its a lounge feel, but everyone just sits there and watches TV. If you don't have a good spot to see a TV and whatever they pick for you to watch, it just isn't fun. We just never felt comfortable. more

Not a Lounge... It's a sports bar 3/4/2005

I went on a friday night expecting a lounge, as it appeared from the picture. It was an incredibly LOUD sports bar. Literally 1-2 plasma screens on every wall. The music was mediocre 70s-80s white-people dance music. $9 for a martini in a place like that is too much. Pros: looked nice, others had fun Cons: loud, loud, a little expensive more

Confused Identity 3/3/2005

This place is still trying to figure out if it's a nightclub, restaurant, or sports bar. The TVs are set up behind the arc booths so it's difficult to watch the game. Typical of california sports bars, no one really watches sports so the patrons are more of an annoyance if you're there to watch your game. The music is way too loud and early on it's the really bad stuff from the 80's. And there's plenty of parking around the place after 6, despite the line of people who like to pay for the valet. The two positives of this place is the decor - very old school dark wood, and the TVs are all flat screen. more

One of my favorites 2/15/2005

This is one of my favorite west-side bars. Part sports bar, part lounge, part dance club - it's got a little of everything. Very diverse, good looking crowd. Female waitresses/bartenders are attractive as expected. Had dinner here once and it was surprisingly decent for a bar - beyond the typical bar food. Pros: Good crowd more

Good times 1/14/2005

I've been there a number of times and it's entered my regular rotation. The place always offers good times. The place is passable for meal times as far as food and environment but that is definitely not the draw. The place breeds socializing. Even when it's not busy, someone interesting seems to be hanging out and socializing is as good if not better than anywhere else. If there is anything bad to say, service can be slow and the m/f ratio gets a little out of whack when busy. That describes everyplace else though. Good times. Have fun. Pros: social, good bar Cons: , line to get in, when busy more

All around good time 6/22/2004

I recently moved here from NY and I have been in search of a chill place to hang out at and Busby's win's the prize by far. The DJ plays awesome music that gets people up on the dance floor- even someone like me who normally doesn't dance. The crowd is all around good looking but not pretentious and the bartenders are the best around. The last time I was there I never even had to order my next drink...there was a constant flow of alcohol! You just can't beat that. It did get a bit crowded which is why I only go on off nights but even then there is a decent amount of people there. Definitely recommended! Pros: inexpensive, good crowd, good music more

Greatest Sports Bar in Town 6/7/2004

Oh my gosh, there is a new huge flat screen TV every 5 feet, Free pool, games in the back, lots of room, big tables. Very cheap happy hour. Have only been here during the week, not sure how the weekend buzz is, but by far the best cleanest sports bar in this town. Another bonus.....Parking and hot waitresses. Pros: Inexpensive,, parking, many tv's, Lots of Room more

unexpected !!!! 5/8/2004

I came into Busby's expecting just another sports bar with the same ol' crowd, but WOW !!! What I got was incredibly friendly and promt service, an absolutly delicious dinner ( easily one of the best steaks in town, and inexpensive too!) and the crowd was very hip and cool. The women here are friggin HOT !!!! Especially the waitresses. The second time I came, yeah I had to wait in line a little while and pay a cover, but it was worth it. Free pool and games, the DJ really gets 'em dancing, and once again, the girls. Oh yeah, the happy hour food is the best I've had. Pros: The food, The people, The location more

BUSBY'S ROCKS! 5/4/2004

I'd like to set the record straight. As a faithful patron of this RESTAURANT, the bashing I've witnessed here is totally unfounded. Anytime I've waited in line, it's because the place is already packed (with ridiculously hot chicks), and I didn't show up early enough. I've never seen any mere sports bar serve Filet Mignon to perfection like this place does. In fact there has been only one thing on the menu that I didn't like, and it's long gone! The prices are reasonable, and in many cases much less than other run-of-the mill meat market bars. Go back to West Hollywood, Buster and drjimmy! Pros: Attractive people, Incredible food, Not trendy more

great place!!!!! 4/20/2004

i think busby's is terrific!!! i went there with my guy... he got to watch his sports game ... i got to enjoy a great atmosphere, great food and fun service ... it's a place we can both agree to go back to!!! i met a couple of single girlfriends there on thursday night and we had a GREAT time ... they totally hooked up with a couple really nice guys!!!! we all plan on going back this coming weekend ... i can't wait!!!!! Pros: really fun!!!!, met great guys!!! more

cheese cheese cheese 3/12/2004

A little slice of Manhattan beach in West LA. A $10 cover charge for a bar on the Westside- who the hell are they kidding?? Stupid people, bad music, too crowded. I don't know where they found this many tasteless people to fill this place up- maybe bused in from San Bernadino? more

huh? 2/16/2004

I don't get this place. I admit I've only been once, but see no reason to go back on my own accord. It looks like an ""old man's"" bar - small rooms, really dark, big but uncomfortable booths. But the Westside needs some reasonably priced hang-outs, so maybe that's it. Cons: , dirty tables/bar, bad service more

Best Sports bar 1/14/2004

The theme is a trendy sports bar. They have several plasma TVs around the place, so virtually everywhere you sit, you can watch the Lakers kick some ass. The bartenders are typically friendly and want to help. They do serve some bar food, but unless you already have a table, it might be hard to find a place to eat it. The only thing I have a problem with, is they have a cover charge after like 9pm when they have a DJ there. But the dance floor is so small, people don't go there to dance. And they hold the line outside so they can prove how popular they are. Get there early. Pros: Plasma TVs, atmosphere, good looking people Cons: cover charge more
