Worst

wow $50 for a couple of burgers and a couple of beers. Cheese not melted on burger (what kind of cook does this?, I mean come on!). Service slow as usual. I've given this place...

Good size portions of fun burgers & hot dogs; a bar reborn 9/3/2007

If you loved the fun atmosphere of the former bar Boom you'll continue to love the new high tables and clean lines. Pros: Foods you might not make at home, great for after work Cons: Parking can be hard depending on the time more

Best Truffle Burger 9/2/2007

Had my birthday party there last night. Best burger I have ever had (The TruffleBurger.) The place was fun and seemed to be the place to be. A little loud ,but the shuffleboard made up for it. Pros: Great food , fun atmosphere, Belgian beer Cons: A little loud, food took a little while, but worth the wait. more

Decent Food - Incompetent Server 8/28/2007

Ever have a good meal whose aftertaste is ruined by the server before you even get out the door? Welcome to the Bulldog NE. To keep the story short, I ordered a Junk Burger with Brie (choice of cheese) and seasoned tatertots. Soon the waitress came back to say they don't have brie anymore, to which I pointed her to the menu, where there's a Truffle Burger with Brie. Without too much of a wait, another server delivered my order, except that it was now a Truffle burger! When I explained what happened, he gladly corrected it. Ok, not the worst of things, but clearly the main server doesn't know the menu. However, when the check came it still showed a truffle burger and an additional $2 or $3 for the tots. Wait a minute, I said. I didn't order the Truffle burger and didn't eat one. And you had said fries came with and never said anything about an extra charge for tatertots. It's an extra dollar she says. Well, $9 (or $10) plus $1 doesn't add up to $12, which the check showed. Her ""I'll take care of it"" was to take everything off but the beer, to which I shook my head in disgust. I mean, the food was very good and I was ready and expected to pay for what I had eaten. It's been decades since I didn't leave a tip, and I was tempted, but she had made a very good beer recommendation. So I figured 42 cents, to round the bill to an even dollar, would cover it and get across the point. Pros: Good food and beer choices - tasty tatertots Cons: Grossly incompetent service, LCD TVs on the wall every 10' or so more

Totally Redeemed 8/22/2007

I had previously written a not so good review for the Bulldog. I was convinced to try it again and I must say they were totally redeemed. I've worked in the service industry alot and will chaulk almost anything up to a bad night. I've been back 3 times now since and have had wonderful experiences everytime. Our original server even recognized us the second time and came over and apologized for the first time we were there. I will definitely go back. I had intended to simply remove my original bad review, but can't figure out how to do it on this site, so I'm just editing the original to say Bravo! Pros: Location, atmosphere, food, beer more

Great food and atmosphere 5/14/2007

Living in the neighborhood, I finally got my husband to try Bulldog. Once we ate, he was upset we hadn't gone before! The food is great, the beer selection is really great and reasonably priced, and the atmopshere was also very cool. I thought the staff was very nice, and the crowd seemed eclectic enough to not just be stuffy/trendy types. The outdoor seating is nice as well. Pros: Great food and beer list, atmosphere Cons: Parking, if you don't live close enough to walk more

Love, Love, Love it!!! 4/26/2007

I've been going to the Bulldog in NE for a few months now. I saw the review in the Citypages and had to check it out. I loved everything about it! The staff is easy going, friendly and most importantly good at what they do. I noticed that they all have large sections (being a server myself I notice those things). The owners must know what they are doing because everyone on their staff is strong and very capable of handleing a full section..plus. The food leaves nothing to be desired! It's great! I've tried almost everything on the menu and the only thing I don't like is the steak tartar..raw meat served in the shape of a pyramid. Not a fan but I'm sure some people like it since its on the menu..still. It seems the busier it is the longer it takes to get your food, but it's hot and perfect when it gets here. Thats all that matters! The selection of beers is the best in town..24 taps and a list of bottles maybe 30+. I can't stress enough...go there and be hooked for life! Pros: fun staff, great beer selection Cons: parking is kinda hard to find more

A bar with quality food 4/23/2007

I like this place because it is enough of a bar that it is easy to drink a cold beer and watch the timberwolves lose a 30 point lead , but it's restauranty enough that you can have a good meal. They have a wide variety of beers and a few old stand-bys. Their specialty drinks are big and the food is better than I would expect from a bar. I've read that this place is supposed to be more restauranty but it feels and looks like a bar even though it has fancier ingredients in the food. The staff is good natured and some of them are pretty funny. If you've been there before there is a good chance they will remember you. Pros: patio, service, food, beer Cons: can get pretty busy on weekend nights more

Great atmosphere, fantastic food! 4/20/2007

The Bulldog in Northeast has become my new favorite hangout in the neighborhood. The food is much tastier and more interesting than your usual bar fair. I'm addicted to the truffle tater tots. They also have an overwhelming beer selection, but don't worry, the staff is always ready and willing to give recomendations. Between the beer, the shuffelboard table and the fun group of people they have working there I always have a great time when I end up at this bar. Weekends at the Bulldog are always busy so you might want to call ahead if you're heading down with a group, but it's worth the wait. Pros: beer selection, good food, friendly service Cons: Parking more

Best Burger, Good Beers Selection 2/21/2007

Tried this place for the first time last night. I had a Truffle Burger with Tater Tots and a Bell's Two Hearted. Possibly the best burger I have ever had, I can't wait to go back to try the others. Tater Tots were done to perfection and the Two Hearted is always good. Pros: Food, Service, Selection Cons: Loud more

Burger Nirvana.... 2/6/2007

A friend of mine told me about the Bulldog and how great the burgers were so I tried it out and was not disappointed. I had the Junk (I think that was it's name) burger and my friend had the Philly sandwich. What impressed me the most was that the burger flavor was above and beyond any of the other burgers I have had throughout the Cities. I also had some flavored fries which were equally good. My friend, not the burger type, was very happy with her Philly. It was a little loud in the main room for our liking. Pros: Fantastic sandwiches and a great beer selection Cons: Main room was a little loud more

For great burgers...look no further!! 1/24/2007

THE BEST BURGERS IN THE TWIN CITIES!!! Have I stated that clearly enough? Absolutely fantastic!!! The Stilton Burger is great but I've tried three different flavors thus far and all have been amazing. I also like the fact that they offer tater tots as well as fries. Belly up with a great beer and you are set!! Pros: Great value for the quality of food you receive Cons: Parking can be tough and had one instance of an undertrained wait staff more
