Bruschetta's

We stopped after my son's hockey game and by the atmosphere, we thought we were in for a treat. We have never been more disappointed in an Italian restaurant. My wife and son had a margarita pizza, I had the pasta with marinara and meatballs. We also ordered wedding soup. I could tell from the get go that the meal was going to be bad, the soup was overly salty, and just didn't taste good. The pasta was served with meatballs that were for sure frozen before and sauce smelt and tasted burnt. The pizza crust was soggy and the sauce was the same as on the pasta. Went there with two friends, one of them being in the area for business for more than a week. Our meals were fantastic, the friend who was in town for work said that his Bruschetta Chicken was the best meal he had in town. I had the Veal Zurich and would recommend it to anyone, it was tremendous! Pros: Great Food more

The meal started nicely enough with an attentive waiter and an attractive menu. The wine selection was large enough and the selections by the glass were very nice. Unfortunately, those were the only pleasant portions of what ended as a poor dining experience. A portion of of my wife's dinner wasn't brought with her entree and when it did come, after reminding the waiter, it was not what had been ordered in the first place. We the found that we couldn't set down a fork to have a conversation without someone coming up and attempting to pick up our plates and box up what was left. This happened three different times, and we finally decided to just leave after an employee cleared the bread basket from the table as I was eating a piece of it. The food itself was okay, and I wold consider it good, just not worth the expense. We will not be going back. more

Many of my family and friends claim that Bruschetta's has excellent Italian food. I have dined there twice and have been disappointed both times. The restaurant's design, one big box-like room with many windows and bare walls, allows it to beomce uncomfortably noisy. The food is mediocre at best. I have tried the spinach salad, a pasta special (a kind of canelloni), and a pasta from the menu with farfalle, peppers, and sausage. The ""house bruschetta,"" delivered to each table ""compliments of the chef,"" is simply terrible. Cold tomatoes and unmelted cheese sitting atop untoasted bread slices? For a restaurant named for that food, you'd expect much better. In general, the food was no better than the bland entrees at a chain restaurant a la Olive Garden, but costs 3-4 times as much. To be fair, the service is highly attentive, and the location is great, but there are plenty of more attractive options on the South Side for dinner. Horrible service! I've had better at Quizno's. The food was average, but portions were very small and I left hungry. They should call themselves ""Bruschetta's in the Evening"", since you don't get the dish with lunch. You don't even get plain old bread at lunch! The decor reminded me of a hospital cafeteria. The name says it all. It's worth the trip for the Bruschetta alone, but you won't be disappointed by the rest of the menu. At supper the Bruschetta is complimentary, and excellent. At lunch it is listed as an appitizer. It is well worth the price. The luncheon menu is just as good as the dinner menu but at a considerable lower price. The special of the day is always worth consideration. There is an excellent selection of wines, although somewhat pricy. But the food is unsurpasssed in the neighborhood. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Bruschetta's. I thought the wine was great and the food was done perfectly. Our waiter was extremely attentive and gave us good suggestions. But I have to say that the dessert was the best part of the meal! more

My first visit to Bruschetta's will definitely be my last. The service was terrible. My friends and I arrived for lunch at about 11:45. We never received our food until 12:35! They weren't even busy!! Also the waiter was not very pleasant. He didn't really seem to care that we were upset about having to wait and go over our lunch hour. The manager also was a bit stand off-ish. She did however give us free meals! We deserved it since the service was so poor! Cons: poor service more
