Great Vets, Crummy Staff. I never thought I would be the pet owner that failed to keep up with routine care of my beloved pets...but that is exactly what I became over the last few years of life chaos, jobs, kids, etc... NO excuses make this forgivable. That being said, my guilt coupled with the negative attitudes and lack of guidance from the office staff almost sent me over the edge this morning! I called seeking heartworm preventative for both dogs and overdue vaccines for the other. I was not directed to bring a fecal sample when i set the appt. and upon leaving, reminded reception i also needed heartworm preventative for our 2nd dog. He was recently seen and there was no mention of testing for heartworms or next steps at his last visit but the lady at the desk made it very clear that he should have been on these meds RIGHT AWAY! :( I left frustrated and near tears as we didn't get the 2nd set of heartworm meds and our older dog didn't get all of the recommended tests during this visit. As time is my enemy, another appointment this week will be a challenge. As far as Dr. Bob and Dr. Hicks, we have always trusted them and they are excellent vets. I've never been impressed with their staff, but until today, this hasn't impacted our loyalty to them. I regret to say, I've decided to look into another clinic simply to avoid contact with those women. Dr. Bob is practical, calm and kind. I've never felt he treated me (a woman) in a manner some of the other commentors noted - we adore him. Dr. Hicks is kind and thorough as well. I would highly recommend them if your skin is thick enough to work through the grouch squad out front. more

We have lived in Indianapolis area 50 years- in past experienced a prominent Carmel all-about-fees over compassionate care practice, incompetent near-eastside practice (nearly bled my dog to death using a laser for neutering!), Emergency clinics, etc. before finding Brookville Rd Animal Hospital. We are always glad to visit- so are my dogs. Both Drs. take time to completely explain procedures,costs, alternatives, etc. They are compassionate, caring, incredibly competent, and reasonably priced (VERY reasonably priced!) We have had both routine and emergency visits there with same experiences. Yes they are busy and there may be a wait on an appointed visit but never too long and only because they are so popular. That should tell the story. This practice is hopping! more

I have used Brookville Road Animal Hospital for many years and you will not find a more caring and compassionate staff. Dr. Canada has been there many days after hours to care for a sick animal, a few of them being mine. Dr. Hicks is very warm and friendly and very loving with the animals she cares for. She came in one hour early one morning when my dog was having a seizure just because she cared. She could have said I would have to wait but she didn't. I would highly recommend this Animal Hospital for high quality, low cost care. more

After reading the reviews for Brookville Road Animal Hospital, I tried to be very observant during our appointment. I do have to say that I have been taking our pets there for a while. I feel like they are an amazing group of people that LOVE animals and are in this business to take care of the animals. I searched for the best prices in our area and hey are by far the cheapest. I asked them why the same preventative meds were so much cheaper than other places and the person at the front desk said Dr Canada just wants people to be able to afford to take care of their pets. WOW! Dr Canada was very sweet to both me and our puppy and they took excellent care of her! We had several shots, a spay, pain meds, heart worm meds, nail trim, and it was only $120.00! I really feel that the other negative reviews must be a fluke. This vet is always very busy with friendy pet owners that dont mind waiting (as my only complaint is that they do run behind form time tio time) knowing that their pets are going to be seen by an awesome vet! more

Best vet in Indy most caring vet I have ever met. Treats my two dobermans as if they where hers. I have been visiting this clinic for 25 years! Staff is impeccable don't believe HATERS! more

Dr. Canada is a kind, caring, supportive, personable man who loves animals and it shows. My dogs were terrified of going to the vet yet they love Dr. Canada and are never frightened. They trust him as do I. We have good conversations whenever I go and he explains things to me when I ask questions. Never tries to rush us thru the appointment. Dr. Hicks has been just super whenever I've used her instead of Dr. Canada. I've seen how she consoles patients who have lost their pets and it makes me think the world of her as well. I would highly recommend this facility. It's spotless and the staff is very helpful and supportive. Pros: Great vets/staff/service/prices Cons: None that I can think of more

I took a new puppy to see Dr Canada, he was very nice to the puppy and answered all my questions. There is a female vet there too, I can not remember her name. VERY GOOD, very complete exam. She has worked there since before she finished school as a vet tech and is now a vet! She is little tiny, and the dog loves her. I am now taking my older dog there too! Great staff and a great price, much less than the other area vet places. Pros: long hours Cons: can be very busy, but they will work you in more

I brought my little guy here frequently when he was a puppy and Dr. Canada was GREAT!!!! He talked to me about things and talked to my dog like he was a child. This is a great place!!! Pros: Great people Cons: a little far from where i live more

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Canada for 15 years, he has been wonderful to us and our pets. He really cares about your pet and does what is right for them, not what is going to make him money. more

Our family uses Dr.Hicks. She is GREAT .Always helpful &nice when we need extra attention or if we call and have problems. We have boarded our dogs here as well and they always come home clean & happy. We couldn't ask for a better Dr. more

New to the area and based on good reviews, I took my 3 dogs for their annual exam. Boy, was I disappointed. Dr. Canada acted put off by bringing in our 3 dogs at once and never acknowledged me--he would only speak to my husband. Even though they are close to our home and the pricing is reasonable, I value my pets more than to be treated like that. Never again. I will never recommend. more

New to the area, we were looking for a vet to take our 3 dogs for their annual exam and shots. Thank goodness my husband was there, because Dr. Canada never acknowledged I was even there--even though I was asking him questions. My husband had to repeat all of my questions to get answers. He was not very professional with the dogs and seemed put off with the dogs. I was horrified by the way this so-called vet treated were treated and I will never go back again. Great vets that really care about the owners and their pet. Located on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Just outside of I-465. They only treat dogs and cats. But they have boarding facilities. Excellent place to take your pet if you have a big worry they will see you right away and perform any test to find out what the problem may be. If you don't have all the money they will bill you for the rest. PROS: Excellent billing program and Care for your pet CONS: more

We have been going to Dr. Canada for over 11 years. We recently had an emergency with our oldest pet. We were able to get in within 20 minutes of calling them. Doc has over 30 years of experience in Veterinary Medicine and he has welcomed Dr. Jennifer Hicks to his staff (A vet who worked with him while going to vet school). She is a wonderful asset to this business. We had to have xrays and tests done on our ill dog and unfortunately, it turned out to be cancer in late stages and there was nothing we could do. Dr. Canada and his staff were so caring and sympathetic to our feelings. I am very impressed with how they took our emotional state into consideration. The staff took care of checking us out without us having to go to the counter where all pets come in. \r \r The prices charged for all the services we have had done in the past, have been very reasonable. We have recommended this business to all of our friends and family who have pets. We would never take our pets to any more

Veterinarian located at Brookville and Franklin Rds. I had a sick kitten and I went in without an appointment and that was ok. I also had a cat that I had to put down and they were very compassionate and helpful. Medicine and services were very reasonably priced. Friendly receptionists and veterinarians. Has been in business for over 20 years or more. more
