Brocato's Studio of Hair

Absolutely Horrible!!! Worst haircut EVER!!! I normally go to another nearby salon, but I had heard good things about Brocato's and decided to try it for a color and trim before my vacation. My stylist was Mimi who is very sweet and friendly but is obviously a VERY inexperienced stylist. The color turned out okay except for the fact that I left the salon with brown dye all along my hairline and on my forehead and ears! The cut was supposed to be a TRIM to cut the split ends and that was all, my hair is already short and I've been trying to go it long. Well obviously Mimi does not understand the meaning of trim b/c she decided to do a complete haircut which I never discussed with her or asked for!! She cut horrible layers into my hair at eye level all around my head (it now looks like I'm growing out thick 1980's bangs) and left the longest length above my shoulders...she then ""thinned"" my hair so much that it now looks like I literally have thinning hair. Anyway after she finished her horrible cut, she must have realized what a disaster she created b/c she asked with pleading eyes ""do you like it?"" and then proceeded to tell me that if I decide to make the ""layers"" into bangs she would do it for free and that she also does extensions! Well needless to say i did not take her up of her offer and instead paid my $175 and called my normal stylist, who told me to come in. Upon seeing my new haircut, my stylist at Spa Sante told me that I had the ""most jacked-up haircut she had seen in years!"" and whoever cut my hair 'really butchered it"" Anyway she attempted to correct my hair but b/c it was cut so short couldn't do much, her advice wait 3-4 months before cutting again and then she could try to fix it. After paying another $85 for my corrective haircut I am now stuck with a horrible, embarassing haircut, out almost $300 and absolutely HATE my hair!!! Don't go to Brocato's if you value your hair!! I made an appointment at Brocato's at the last minute while visiting Baltimore from NYC and was thoroughly pleased with my experience. I saw Brittny for hi lites and a trim, and she did precise, subtle work on my color and really took into account my concerns. more

I've been to this salon 3-4 times and loved my stylist. However I won't be back because I was completely ripped off this last time. I scheduled a cut/blowdry and. I had also asked for my hair to be put up for an evening affair. The stylist used a few pins and gel/hairspray and this took about 15 minutes. No curling, setting, etc..The entire appt lasted just under an hour. My bill was $140- ($60 for the cut/blowout and $80 to put my hair up!.) Had i known this I would have gone elsewhere- which I now plan to do. . They should charge accordingly- this was no $80 updo, believe me. Pros: Friendly Cons: Not worth the price more

Although Brocatos Studio of Hair has talented hair stylists as the name suggests, their best-kept secret is the on staff Master Aesthetician, Evelyn. I?ve never experienced a more pleasurable and relaxing facial?and with radiant results! She also offered me amazing advice for how to care for my skin daily. She explained why my skin acts the way it does (I would get annoying bumps on my forehead--since college), and she told me on how to get rid of them--(They are gone now!). Unfortunately, I reside out of state right now, but my parents are still in MD, so whenever I am in MD, I set up an appointment! I really haven?t found another aesthetician with a knack for skincare like Evelyn at Brocatos! I highly recommend her for the novice and seasoned individual looking to improve their skin. Moved to Baltimore almost 3 years ago and was still in search for good salon -- read the reviews and decided to take a chance with Brocato's. The salon was wonderful and I am MORE than satisifed with my haircut! Gina is great and I will definitely be back! I will not go anywhere else! Having moved to Baltimore just over a year ago I had the hardest time trying to find someone that could give me a proper haircut and color. Well, I happened to be shopping at Safeway and I just happened to see this place - and now, as long I'm living nearby - this is my place! Everyone there is helpful and nice. They even gave me some wine while I was waiting for my color to set. After a long day of work I couldn't have been more pleased. The prices are to be expected, not cheap but not too expensive. Either way, you really get what you pay for here. Pros: Great location and atmosphere Cons: I was convinced to spend $26/bottle on shampoo.. BUT I do love it and I'll buy it again. more

Brocato's people are friendly, helpful, attentive & give good cuts. Prices are reasonable. The place is run efficiently, and it is easy to get an appointment at short notice. No pressure to buy product. Kind of cool interior decor that avoids rain forest kitsch (but just) more

Although I must say that once you've entered this mystical land of Brocato's you'll find yourself pampered and relaxed while one of the male or many females work wonders on your hair. F A B U L O U S more

My stylist has got to be one of the best hair magicians in the entire planet, this aside from the fact that Kenny has been voted Baltimore's best Hair Colorist a few years back. Pros: The enviroment is whimsical Cons: None that I can think of more

i was just in town for the weekend, a wedding for a college pal, and had no plans for changing my hairstyle, but like always, i ran out of time to get my hair my hair done. i didn't want to attend looking like a mess. while exploring canton, I stopped in at starbucks to get a little jolt of caffeine. while waiting in line, my little eye spied a barber pole. i decided to walk over and check things out. when i walked in i was struck by the interesting design, i thought to myself that this is no ordinary shop. i asked the receptionist if they had time to fit me in , she clicked away at her computer and said that they had time and then asked me if i wanted a glass of water, cup of coffee, or even a glass of wine, while i waited. while sitting, i did notice a little sign that said if you were 5 minutes or more late that you would need to reschedule.........it sounded like they meant business, but they knew what they were doing. the stylist came out, and introduced himself and took me back to his station. he let me know that the decor was not a copy of the rainforest cafe, but of an alice and wonderland theme and then launched into a consultation. i told him i was in town for a wedding and just needed my highlights touched up and a trim. the stylist suggested high and low lights, since my hair kept fading, to give my hair ""depth"" as he called it, and when it came to the cut, he suggested some texturizing and a slight change in the layers and it would make my hair fuller without taking away too much length. everyone their was friendly, the boss was even there doing shampoos, no less. the stylist told me that the shampoo person went home not feeling well and the owner offered to come in and help out. while processing, i noticed the parade of cute guys walking their dogs near the shop on a patch of grass outside the widows. when all was said and done, i ended up with what felt like a new head of hair. treat yourself and check it out Pros: parking was good, no cookie cutter styles, everyone looked different Cons: since they book clients so tight, you CANNOT be late more

Based on previous reviews, I made an appointment for a haircut. I was VERY disappointed. The stylist was decently courteous, however, the staff seemed very distant and not friendly. They weren't even friendly towards each other---rather cold towards one another. The cut was a disaster and I don't understand how it could be worth $60. I don't think the stylist knew what he was doing. The left and right sides are not even the same length!!! Isn't that a haircutting basic?? Pros: Location? Cons: Everything else! more

I received a full highlight and haircut at Brocatos last week and have never been more pleased. The staff was friendly, decor was top notch and I had a glass of wine to calm down from my busy week. It was the only hair salon that I have ever been to that made my visit completely about ME! If you are a professional like myself you must visit this salon! more

I guarentee you've never seen anything like it. Definately not just for chicks, although mucho hotties were there when I was..Staff cute too! Amazing how they walk in, even better when they leave. It's like one of those reality shows. Cool place, great old building, (some kind of can factory) friendly staff (not phony) and customers. In safe artsy area Canton. Very talented crew working. You know when you change hair places and walk in for the first time, its like this dread...not here! Walked in, was greated..no show and dance put on, felt at home. Everyone was nice to this nerd!
