Editorial review from Citysearch 5/30/2013

Ok, let's see...where to begin? Although I usually only read these, I felt the need to write about my experience because it was that awesome! I was a new client walking into Brassfields a week ago, and scared out of my mind! Having just relocated to the northwest 3 years ago from PA I bounced around looking for that ""one"" hairdresser! Well, it took me all of that time to be fortunate enough to find Michael. He's totally amazing! We spent 5 minutes or so, chatting, and I told him to just do what he wanted as far as the cut and color went. I put myself in his hands and trusted him, and it wasn't a mistake! My hair looks great and I love, love, love it! His assistant, Elle is lovely as well. She is as nice as she is pretty, and she's very pretty! They compliment each other. So....if you want your money's worth ladies, Brassfields delivers! \r \r Rock-on!!!!!!!\r Cindy Sparks more

Not Great for Wedding Parties 1/7/2011

I brought my wedding party (6+ myself the bride) here for hair and makeup the day of our wedding. We reserved the upstairs room so that we could all be together and celebrate while getting our makeup done. \r \r I was REALLY disappointed on my wedding day. \r \r First off, our appointment started at 9:30am (I think they reserve 90 minutes for you). However... the stylists didn't even arrive upstairs until 20 minutes later (they were late!!) Then, they spent an extra 10 minutes setting up and getting ready. \r \r As the 4 stylists started our hair, they really rushed things (well... they were LATE!). Even my hair was rushed...the bride. When she finished my hairstyle I looked in the mirror and hated it (looked nothing like the test run). So I asked that she re-do it. My stylist gave me huge attitude-- ""well hurry up back to the chair-- my next client is waiting"". Hmmm... remember-- YOU were the one who arrived 30 minutes late??? NOT MY FAULT!\r \r Over all the girls' hair didn't look too hot. Not terrible, but really not wedding great. And I was very frustrated at the stylists arriving late, rushing the job, then giving me a hard time that they were ""late"" for their next appointment on my wedding day. \r \r Don't go here for your wedding... more

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful 5/14/2010

Love this place. I started going here just over eight months ago, and have wondered why I had not come sooner. I used to drive past it daily, and it was not until I commented on someones hair at a local pub, and to hear she had got it done there. I called them up and got an appointment set for that very next Monday. The environment is very tasteful, and is very welcoming. My hair stylist's name was Sean, and he was more than perfection. I can honestly say I have never gotten a better style from anyone else in all 24 years on this earth. To top it off the guy is a riot to talk to. I just love coming there just to talk to Sean. He has made some not so happy days feel 110% better just from his conversations. Must say this is the place to go, and if you are fortunate enough to get Sean as your stylist even better. Thank you guys for bring an amazing salon to the Tacoma area. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Lady below is crazy! Best salon in the area! 5/14/2010

I have been coming here for quite some time and have always had the best experience one can expect. I have waited maybe five minutes or so for appointments, which is nothing to cry over. I take that time to admire the gorgeous people and the elegant surroundings. Have you ever went to one of those walk in places thinking to yourself ""gosh, I hope they cut it like I see it in my head"" Well leave that thought in the parking lot. These stylist are the most professional people in the business in my opinion. Every time I leave there I feel like a million dollars and look like it too. Front desk is wonderful, appointments have always been met with a smile and a friendly hello accompanied with my name. I love the feel that you get walking in there. If I had to recommend a salon to anyone in the Tacoma area, I would most certainly advise Brassfields. They would not let me give 10 stars, but you deserve it!! Keep up the GREAT work. Pros: GREAT customer service toppled with lovely people Cons: Absolutely NONE. more

Very rude front desk 4/30/2010

My husband and I have been going to Brassfields Salon for a few years. My husband bought a package of several haircuts. He always booked his appointment weeks ahead, and was always on time. His hair stylist, was NEVER on time(not just not on time, but NOT in the building). And when my husband complained he was nicknamed ""the mean man"" by the front desk. Because we liked the stylist we continued to use him, until enough, was enough. The front desk women were very rude to my husband. We also have schedules to keep. My husband no longer wanted to go there. I switched stylist, and was happy until I needed my bangs trimmed. I called and set up a time, and when I arrived for my appointment, I was told to take a seat. After about 10-15 minutes, I was called to the desk for a correct spelling of my name ect, and told that I wasn't on the books. I said I had called earlier that day and was given a time to come in ( I didn't make up my own time). I was told to take a seat again, after waiting what seemed an eternity, was told that because I didn't have an appointment, that they couldn't cut my bangs until late that day. The thing is they don't make appointments to get a bang trim. I was very upset, because they kept saying I didn't call, nor did I have an appointment. I walked out, very upset. I later called, and Tiffani, the same gal that set my trim time answered the phone. My biggest problem was that she sat there and listened while the other gal said I didn't have an appointment, and didn't say oh gosh I am sorry I did over book, or something to that nature. I was basically, called a liar. I was told by the stylist, that I could call and come in for free mid-haircut bang trims (I have always tipped well). Besides me having to go to a walk-in hair salon, the stylist also loses. During this hard economy, which I talked with the stylist about when I got my haircut, one would think that the front desk would be stellar. We are now looking for another salon. Cons: Very Poor front desk service more

Love this place 4/10/2010

Went to Brassfields after being gone for a long time. Sean Paul did an excellent job with my hair and has an incredible sense of matching the right color to your hair. Bravo, Sean Paul you are the best and enjoyed the laughs and the conversation.\r Second, was Kim who did a makeup consult with me and her sensitivity and expertise so impressed me. Bravo to you also Kim, you are truly special. \r Overall, I found Brassfields to be a welcoming and supportive place that truly cares about their customers. Pros: professional, customer oriented, makes you feel speical Cons: none more

Brassfield's is the place for me and my family!!! 11/25/2009

MacKenzie always cuts or colors/hilights my hair and I love it everyone time. It's easy to duplicate for me at home. She always seems to know what style works best on my thick hair. My whole family goes there, and my mom always raves about every department. Even had my Grandmother and her sister come down from Seattle for a spa day and they enjoyed it so much, they are doing it again in December. Only problem was they keep fighting over who gets what done by who and at one time!!! It's a great place. A University Place tradition! Pros: Best Atmosphere, best customer service, best front desk Cons: ????? aren't open 24 hours? more

Good review! 3/18/2009

I just had my hair done at Brassfields this weekend. We moved from NY on a military transfer and I have struggled for a year and a half trying out all different hairdressers, but they all turned my hair a brassy orange color when they lightened it! A friend here recommended this salon, even though it's over 2 hours away. I did not want to travel that far, but after doing it, I will not go anywhere else while we are stationed here. My hairdresser was Krista and she was quick and obviously knew what she was doing! \r Thank you!!! \r \r more

Best Style Ever 12/3/2008

I came to Brassfields for a change of pace. I wanted a good haircut and a consultation on managing my curly hair. I left Brassfields feeling beautiful. My experience was one of completely being listened to by a master of the craft. This ?master? designed a new age-appropriate look, and I felt transformed in the process. My hair was soft and gleaming. I could not stop touching it. Sean Paul did not just create a hairstyle or a look; he gave me instructions on technique, products and using the proper tools to maintain my new look. He even scheduled another consultation to address any questions that came up as I was managing the style on my own. I felt pampered, listened to and as a result empowered. I came to Brassfields for a change of pace and I left with a new style and the ability to maintain that style effectively. May Brassfields receive as many compliments on their effectiveness as I do on my hair! Thank you Brassfields and Sean Paul! more

A day at the spa-ctacular Brassfields 11/12/2008

What a delightful place. Everyone is treated like a special guest. Employees seem to sincerely enjoy their work, each other and, most profoundly, all the clients. The main room is open (not like other salons) with large glass windows facing a grove of splendidly colored trees. The day I arrived, the ""artist"" (formally known as Sean Paul) was running late because he had indulged a lovely senior citizen with an extensive consultation. Folks at Brassfields are like that. While I was pampered with tea and conversation I witnessed a charming little girl get her first trim. Everyone in the place seemed engaged in this event. A woman in a towel from across the room picked up the golden locks on the floor and handed them to the parents. ""You'll want to keep this,"" she smiled. \r It's like a family there. Come join in. Pros: Sean Paul, Nick, the atmosphere, the trees, expertise of all the stylists more

Sean Paul was fantastic! 11/11/2008

Sean Paul was fantastic! This was my first visit to Brassfields and it was great, primarily because of Sean Paul. He seemed to be genuinely interested to get to know me, my needs and how best to help me. He was fun to be with and I enjoyed his great sense of humor. He seemed to really care about how I was to follow through and enjoy my new hairstyle (in progress) beyond just that day at the salon so that I would know how best to care and style my hair once I got home. His suggestions were great and I trusted him and his extensive expertise immediately. The whole Brassfields environment was welcoming and it was nice to relax and enjoy a cup of tea while feeling pampered. I look forward to my next visit! more

SEAN PAUL IS THE BEST 11/6/2008

Brassfield's has many good stylists, but Sean Paul is simply the best! He's thoughtful about color and cut and I always leave happy with my results. Plus, he's alot of fun! Pros: Parking, lots of stylists, service, great advice, lots of different services available Cons: can get pricey, but they have all levels of stylists at all different price levels, something for everyone more

Love to love my hair!!!!! 10/28/2008

I live in Los Angeles, CA and love my stylist there. Unfortunately my work has taken me away from home for more than 5 weeks and I really needed a cut!!!! By the way, huge fan of loreal pro so I wouldnt dare go to a salon that does not work with loreal. So my stylist from LA looked up loreal salons in the area for me and found Michael at Brassfields. I have never felt compelled to write a review until now. He is amazing!!! My cut was perfect and he kept up with the same style my girl in LA was going with. Ladies I know its hard to go to someone new because all they want to do is change your look to what they like and not what u want, but Michael did a great job. The staff was great and there was such a positive energy in the salon. Now I have a salon for when im in Seattle and im so happy. more

A cut above all others! 8/24/2008

It never ceases to amaze me how frequently I have people comment on my hair. Everywhere I go I hear comments about the style, the color or overall positive comments. I have been a Brassfield's fan for years. I dare to stray once because of a job change and no matter where I went ... or the cost... I was disappointed.\r The customer service is consistent and exemplary throughout your visit. The staff listens and remembers your preferences... no matter how small. It is the best thing I do for myself every month. \r If you want to look stunning and are prepared to handle the myriad of compliments that will come your way... it's Brassfields. \r more

LOVE this Spa 8/11/2008

My home town is University Place and I started going to this spa while in College. The people were always friendly and new my first name every time I came in and knew what services I received regularly and all the nuances that came along with me. Roxanne who works the front desk is awesome, as is Diego. If you are looking for a great and fun stylist, Shannon is your gal, and Nikki is a GREAT estician, she always did my brows exactly right and was pretty fast as well. Even though I am in california now, I will definately conitnue to go to this Spa whenever I am in town , seriously. Pros: staff, Nikki, Shannon, nice atmosphere great place to relax more
