Very unprofessional management, something odd going on there since Colton left, 2 managers in such a short time and both telling me completely different issues with my car. I thought the mechanic determined the issue not the crooked sales person at the counter.\r \r Do not go here,find a decent and honest shop more

Very Bad News- Colton is no longer with the company and it shows, my husband and I had the worst visit ever not only did they seem not to care, the tech was short and rude he was polite on prior visits. The new manager looked lost we are at a lost we were referred there 3 years ago and now we must find a new shop, if anyone knows where Colton is working please post for the rest of his loyal customers to follow. If this was not Colton s choice it was a BAD choice on the part of Brake Specialists. C & R more

SOLID SHOP!!! 10/22/2011

Saw the reviews and had to try these guys out. My brakes had been grinding for a few days, so I knew I was in for a high price repair. These guys were actually able to resurface my rotors and put some nice pads on my vehicle for not a lot of dinero. Give these guys a try, you will not be sorry. Pros: null Cons: null more

The waiting room is very nice at this facility and I was comfortable the minute I walked through the door. I got my brakes worked on and have been happy with the service I received. The price was also in my budget. I couldn't have asked for more. more

Don't get your car inspected here 7/24/2011

I went to the Round Rock location to have my car inspected. They failed me on an "exhaust leak". I took it to the mechanic down the street and they did a comprehensive test of my exhaust system finding no leak anywhere on the vehicle. It cost me $50 to have them tell me nothing was wrong with it. I had to take the receipt back to Brake Specialist to prove to them that nothing was wrong with it. Not only did it take time and money for something so ridiculous, it was if it was no big deal. The idiot inspecting it didn't say anything at all and it took another 20 minutes to wait when there was no one in the shop at all. Won't be going back there next year. more

WOW, thats service 7/5/2011

First this cudos to the owners they did a remarkable job with the renovations inside beautiful and that is a nice and bathroom,how many times can you say this about an auto shop. Mr Perez was very nice and polite to me and my fiance he explained what we were told by bmw was not needed at this time we did need brakes and were shown what was left of our pads and rotors,because of his professionlism we had our car serviced there we will return and continue to save maoney and time coming to see the folks at this location. Great job guys and great looking shop. M more

My boss had suggested I try these folks he is a regular and said they were very direct and honest at all times with him and his family. I went with my landrover expecting the same stuff I get from the dealer,always very over priced and you need it all today. The manager was very well trained in explaining what needed to be done right away and what could wait as long as 3 months,price was fair and job was done on time.Thank you for your great work. more

Honest,Worth the drive 2/16/2011

I live in Houston area,And finding a honest affordable mechanic there just is not happening. I drive to Austin to have Colton and his team do all my work on both vehicles my Bmw and my Mercedes, he has been able to repair both my cars for a signaficant less amount than the dealers or other repairs shops I have visited and still used dealer parts. I find this shop to be honest and really caring in showing customers what is going on with their car rather than telling them what they have to buy today. I will continue to come to Austin and have Colton service all our vehicles,great jobs guys. Wish you would open a store near Houston,we need a honest,caring automotive shop. Irene more

I am a woman who has been BURNED by sooooo many mechanics! I don't know what it is that they thought it was okay to take advantageof me...in consequence, I approach any car repair with a lot of hesitation and dismay EXCEPT with this particular Brake Specialists location. more

Took care of my noisy steering issue 12/13/2010

I brought my Acura in for a noisy steering issue that was only happening when the vehicle was on a cold start. They let me drop it off overnight, so it would be cold for them. They confirmed the noise and did some research. Apparently, Honda has a TSB on this issue. They replaced an o-ring on the power steering pump and flushed the power steering fluid for me for about $95. The noise has gone away and I am very happy. more

Courteous Staff and Good Service 12/12/2010

I can't say enough good things about this location. Colton is always a pleasure to deal with and the techs do a great job. My brakes are great. My new shocks and struts feel great. My oil pan no longer leaks on my garage floor. Thanks for everything. more

Fixed my rear axle seals on my 4Runner, Thanks! 12/10/2010

I came in to get my brakes looked at, since it felt like I was stopping as well as I used to. They got me right in and looked the vehicle over thoroughly. They brought me out to my car to show me that axle grease had coated both rear wheels and all of the brake hardware back there as well. The repair was not cheap, but it was a lot of work to do. They gave me a ride home which was nice. They finished the vehicle same day and even gave me a ride back to the shop. My brakes are great now. Thank you for going above and beyond! more

Quickly Machined My Loose Rotors 12/9/2010

I am a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to my vehicle, but I usually need a good shop to machine my rotors when I do the brakes on my vehicle. I had been using South Austin Machine Shop, but they are usually slammed. I decided to go to another well reviewed shop, so I took my rotors to the Brake Specialists at 1303 South Lamar. more

I was impressed by the manager Colton.He actually took me out to my vehicle and showed what was going on with my brakes. He compared my worn out pads to new ones in a box. No fancy auto talk just simple and plain english,I was very pleased and will return. more

Fixed My Oil Leak and Took Care of My Tune Up 12/8/2010

I had been driving around with my check engine light on and my vehicle felt like it had no power. After seeing the good reviews for the Brake Specialists on South Lamar, I decided to bring my car in to get it checked out. Apparently, there was oil leaking from my valve cover gasket and that was getting into my spark plugs. They gave me an estimate up front that was fair and I had them do the work. I also had them do a fuel injection service on my vehicle, since I had never done one. My vehicle runs great now and no more oil leaking from the engine. Thanks for the great service. more

Good Service, Very Happy with Repairs 12/4/2010

I had a knock sensor issue with my Chevy Silverado about a week ago and brought my vehicle to the South Lamar location. They treated me right and got the issue fixed for me. The check engine light has stayed off and I was able to get my vehicle inspected. Thanks for the quick service. more

Honesty Goes A Long Way... 12/3/2010

I brought my vehicle in today to the Brake Specialists at 1303 South Lamar, because I was sure I needed brakes. They got me right in and looked over my vehicle. They told me I didn't need brakes right now and that I had over 50% pad life left all the way around the vehicle. Another shop had told me that I needed brakes based solely on me telling them that I had brake noise issues. The manager at Brake Specialists took me out to the vehicle and showed me the condition of my brakes and showed me what a new pad looks like on my vehicle for reference. He did point out that the last shop that worked on my brakes installed Duralast pads from Autozone and that was the reason I heard the brake noise. They recommended a couple of pad options to look into when I get my next brake service. The manager and staff were very helpful and I appreciated their honesty. I will be back most definitely. Fast Brake Repair, Good Service 11/28/2010

I made an appointment the day after Thanksgiving for 8:00am at the Brake Specialists at 1303 South Lamar to get my brakes looked at due to some odd noises. There was hot coffee in the waiting room and I was greeted by Colton, the manager. They got the brake inspection done in about 25 minutes and had an estimate for me. They even took me out to the vehicle to see what was wrong with my brakes. I had them do the work and they finished in about an hour. I was really impressed with how quick they serviced the vehicle. My brakes have been great this weekend. A big thanks goes out to the staff at Brake Specialists for all their help. more
