A fun place to bring lunch... 4/17/2006

Today, to get away from the STRESS of my job, I took my lunch and my journal and went to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. This place is incredibly beautiful. There are different area like the Rose Garden, Fragrance Garden, Japanese Garden and more to enjoy. There are charming water areas, picnic areas and benches for sitting and watching people. The best thing about the FW Botanic Gardens is that they are FREE!! I say check it out! more

Beautiful...Peaceful... 4/15/2006

The Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth are such a beautiful and peaceful place. We take my daughter there to look at the flowers and just enjoy a Spring day. It is such a treat and a great family experience. My daughter's favorite part is (of coarse) the fish. As stated above, it is an amazing family day activity in a place where you can enjoy nature at its finest. more

Lovely Garden Park in the City 9/13/2005

A little piece of Heaven. I love to come here with a picnic lunch and spend a couple of hours just relaxing in the shade. The ground are well manicured and maintained. You honestly forget that you are in Downtown Ft.Worth. This is a Fabulous place for Weddings as Well. Don't be surprised during the spring if you see a Bride in all her wedding regala slipping in and out amongst the Rose Gardens. more

Beautiful 8/25/2005

The botanic Garden is a wonderful place to spend a spring or fall day (too hot is summer). The plants and flowers are beautful and the atmosphere is so quiet and peaceful. Bring your camera and grab some great photos. Every area has great colors and is so peaceful. Don't forget the Japenese Garden ($3), it is beautiful- especially in the fall! more

Beautiful gardens 8/19/2005

Whether you are looking for a good place to have a picnic or if you are looking for a place to take profesional photos this is the place. There is tons of beautiful flowers and plants. You can sit under a tree and read a book. You can bring your whole family for the day for a picnic. If you want your wedding or prom pictures taken under a huge tree this is a perfect spot. more

Flower power 8/17/2005

Although you have to pay a small amount to get in, these gardens are well worth it. With the flowers blooming all around you, its a perfect place to take an afternoon stroll. You can feed the fish and enjoy the calming sound of water as it flows all around you. more

Don't miss the Japanese Gardens 8/17/2005

The Japanese gardens are what bumps the FW botanic gardens from a 3 star to a 4 star. It costs $3 per person to get in, but it is worth it. It's spectacular, with paths wending in all directions, a huge zen garden, and vending machines that sell fish food to feed the koi. On a nice day it would be a great place to bring a book and just relax in the shade. You can see the rest of the gardens without charge. My son and I frequently drive down to spend an hour or two putting our toes in the grass. The rose garden has a pond and a man-made little waterfall that trickles down the hill, the perfect place to hang out and meet other families. The restaurant isn't very good, though, it's much better to pack your own picnic. The bathrooms are kind of gross. Parking is also a little difficult. Most days you have to wend your way through to the back lot and then walk back into the gardens. I go to the gardens frequently because it's close and I feel like my son needs as much time outside as he can get, but I have seen better gardens. Overall worth a visit, though. more

Japanese Gardens 8/16/2005

Need to relax? take a stroll in the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth. Not only do they have beautiful fauna in their garden, they also have koi ponds where you can buy koi food for .25 and feed them. The place also has lots of butterflies flying about to give you an even more serene feeling. more

A relaxing and beautiful place to visit 8/14/2005

The Japanese tea gardens are just gorgeous, and the price of admission is very affordable. One of the nicest attractions is that there are several Koi goldfish ponds, and you can buy food for a quarter and feed the fish. They're very outgoing fish and will come very close to get to the food. Sometimes, even turtles will come to eat. Also, the tea gardens have a tea house, which shows what a tea ceremony looks like and can be reserved for weddings or special events. Their gift shop is very affordable and is full of interesting and unique things. There are several low-priced souvenirs for children, as well as items like silk kimonos and gardening books and tools. more

Great for photos and visitors 8/10/2005

This is a wonderful place to get photos especially when the roses are in bloom. You couldn't ask for a better location in Fort Worth and I have always found there to be plenty of parking. There are benches throughout where you can sit and rest if need be and just enjoy the beauty in the middle of the city. more

Beautiful 8/10/2005

The Japanese gardens are always a good place to go. You can take your family, or out of town guests. The kids get a great kick out of feeding the fish and I really like the attention to detail that the caretakers have put in. This is inside the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, so you park in the same area. The admission is very inexpensive for all the cool stuff inside. more

a beautiful place 7/28/2005

Everyone should visit the Botanic Gardens at least a few times. It is magnificent year round. They also do a lot of events there, especially weddings. As you can imagine, weddings there are lovely. It's free or cheap to go walk around and look at everything the gardens have to offer, so like I said, everyone should check it out. more

Wonderful place to meander through 7/26/2005

I love the Botanic Gardens. They're beautiful, and perfect for either a romantic date or a family outing. My first visit was in February, and I thought that it wouldn't be so pretty since most of the flowers wouldn't be blooming. I was wrong. Though some of the plants had died back, there were many, many still in bloom--and the architecture and landscaping was enthralling. I've since visited it in spring and summer, and I always enjoy myself. There are rose gardens, wildflower gardens, picturesque pools and fountains, and a wooded area with a pond with turtles and fish--and all of it for free. Well, there are some areas that aren't free. The Japanese gardens are definitely worth visiting at least once, even though you have to pay to get in. Kids will love the giant, very friendly coy (they practically crawl out of the water to be fed these little pellets you can buy a quarter to get). There an indoor rain-forest garden, which I don't think I ever visited. One word of warning--watch out for brides, especially in springtime! This is a favorite spot both for weddings and wedding photographers. Thats why I prefer going mid-week or off season. more

Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature 7/12/2005

My family loves to go to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. It is lovely to have a picnic lunch on the grass on Saturday afternoons and just enjoy the natural surrounding, quietness, and fresh air. We particularly love the Japanese Garden ($3) in the fall, when the reds and oranges of the leaves are truly vibrant, and the Rose Garden (free) in the late spring and early summer, when the air is heavy with the perfume of flowers. more
