Extraordinary, abnormal damage to my bed 8/18/2008

I made the mistake of trusting the positive CitySearch reviews of Boston Quality Movers. They were nice on the phone, and their quote ended up being accurate, but their movers are a disaster. For the first leg of the move, they somehow arrived without any tools. That didn't end up being a problem at the time, but what kind of mover has no tools for disassembling furniture? This kind of carelessness ended up losing me hundreds of dollars when they moved my bed into my new apartment and tried to reassemble it. They didn't know what they were doing, didn't ask me for the manual, didn't ask for help or say anything was going wrong, and they destroyed the bed. It can no longer support a mattress, and has strange holes drilled into its sides that weren't there before. Plus, a lot of bolts and screws are missing, so I can't even fix it myself. I'm going to have to buy a new bed. Because I didn't get any extra insurance, the most I could get from filing a claim -- despite the extraordinary negligence of what they did to my bed -- would be $.60/lb, or about $25. The bed cost a few hundred dollars, so I would've been better off using a more reliable but more expensive shipper, or buying some very expensive insurance. Pros: On time, good customer service (unless you're filing a claim, which they've outsourced). Cons: Movers who will destroy your furniture and leave you with no legal recourse. more

Run, don't walk, away!! 7/31/2008

At first they were great on the phone, then they were extremely rude- long hold times - wish I had never made contact. I am definitely going with a different mover and recommend the same to you. \r \r Jill Aug 8, 2008 more

Moving Nightmare Come To Life 7/26/2008

I was wrong to choose these movers based on the citysearch reviews... I made my moving plans from Boston to New York 6 months in advance - I did a great deal of research and selected these guys. We finalized the price and signed an agreement, As the date came closer - they had the nerve to tell me that I needed to pay more or else I could find another mover. Of course - it would be difficult to find another mover at the last minute. I was literally in tears. I ended up paying the extra money and went through with the move as I had no alternative. They ended up doing a less than average job - but beware that what you see is NOT what you get. Pros: Nothing I can think of Cons: Bad Business Ethic more

WORST MOVERS 7/24/2008

WORST movers in boston. OVERCHARGED by a lot, but seemed underpriced initially(just like previous reviews). REFUSE to honor a coupon and are rude on the telephone after it takes WEEKS to try to get a hold of them. have not moved yet, but items are in storage, just PRAYING i get everything back safely. more

If you Have a Claim with BQ Movers dont expect to ever hear from them.... 7/21/2008

I moved in August of last year (2007) and needed my belongings in storage for 1 month before I was closing on my new home. The day of the move the movers showed up 4 hours late, they packed my stuff in the truck in record time and moved it into storage. Cons: The showed up 4 hours late, lost and broke my furniture and now have ignored my claim more

I moved in August of last year (2007) and needed my belongings in storage for 1 month before I was closing on my new home. The day of the move the movers showed up 4 hours late, they packed my stuff in the truck in record time and moved it into storage. One month later I closed on my new condo and they were scheduled to move my things from storage. I got a call that they were actually going to arrive early since my move in August was so disastrous... nice huh? I thought it was. When the movers came I noticed right away some things were missing... then they carried in a $1500 chair and asked if the legs were missing before I moved... Ahhhh.. NO!!!! I called the moving company immediately while the movers were still moving in my items in... as soon as I said missing and broken I was given a number for the Claims Processing Center in Staten Island. I submitted a claim as soon as I received all of the paper work on October 9th 2007. I moved in October of 2007... it is July 2008 and for MONTHS I have called the Claims Processing Center asking the status of my claim and everyday they tell me no one is answering the phone in claims. I feel as though I will never be compensated for my furniture being destroyed, good china disappearing, limited edition Lenox from my grandmother vanished. I'd say it's a hell of a business to get into... the no consequences to their actions! The form that I received from the Claims Processing Center on October 9th states the following: All liability, settlement, and /or payment remains exclusively with the Carrier who performed your move.? Cons: The showed up 4 hours late, lost and broke my furniture and now have ignored my claim more

not disastrous, just not honest 7/17/2008

Boston Movers did an adequate job on our move. The movers were polite and reasonably careful. Although the estimate we got from them was lower than others, the final cost was higher (about 25% above estimate). This was achieved by charging exorbitant fees for boxes, gas, and tape, and by the movers getting "lost" for over an hour between Providence and Boston, which we had to pay for at $130/hour. All and all, Boston Movers was par for the course. This is a dirty business, and they were neither more nor less dirty than the average. I suspect that a lot of the glowing reviews here are shills. Pros: Not a disaster Cons: will find ways of charging over the initial estimate more

Boston Quality Movers, The B E S T !!! 6/10/2008

On 6/3/08 I had a residential move from Brookline to Amherst, MA. The movers were fantastic! They arrived just before 8 AM, were courteous and extremely efficient. Their customer service was excellent. Likewise, before the move, every time I called Boston Quality Movers, or emailed with Fredy, the customer service was also excellent. I will definitely recommend this moving company to others. Thanks, Allison Hill more

I regret using them 6/2/2008

Really, this has turned into a nightmare. At this point I've paid a lot more than the price I was quoted and am trying to clear up a few "clerical errors" that would have me pay a few hundred dollars more. My advice if you insist on working with them: calculate all the numbers yourself, measure the volume of your items yourself, keep a clear track of what goes on the truck, and really, really consider using another mover. It started out well - they came to my place, looked over all my things and gave me what I thought was a fair estimate (based on volume) to move everything. He even "estimated high" to make sure the real price won't be more than the quote. On the day of the move, there were so many errors. The actual price was way higher - it turns out they both underestimated the volume during the quote and then over-estimated the volume on the truck. After a lot of arguements and denials of wrong-doing on their part, I actually went into the truck with a tape measure and got the actual volume, they then grudgingly agree to only charge me for what I actually am moving. But they are trying to charge me more for the boxes and tape and other material than was originally quoted - so I'm fighting this. I should also point out that they damaged my walls and doors with only a shrug and grunt when I pointed it out. The stuff arrived within 2 weeks, but a few items were missing. I'm trying to figure out how to get all my stuff back. Overall they have been unprofessional and irresponsible and I regret choosing them! Pros: They were timely Cons: sleazy, irresponsible, kept making mistakes that cost me money more

since my first mover did not show ..... 4/7/2008

Here is my review :) I must tell you I was reluctant to hire BQM since my first mover did not show and did not cancel the service. However I was pleasantly surprised when they showed up and started working so quickly, they were like lightning......they did not waste any time; it was all business for them. I was amazed to see how hard working and quick they were. They even helped with setting up the furniture exactly where I wanted it as well as placing the appropriate boxes in the kitchen, living room and bedroom to better accomodate me when opening them. I would recommend Boston Quality Movers to a friend in the future! Diana K. Pros: Craig's list moveres never came....Boston Quality movers sent a crew as soon as I called. Cons: was more expensive then CL movers more

Excellent moving company, professional moving staff!! 4/7/2008

I had to arrange a move on a very short notice. Your company worked hard to accomodate this request and was able to schedule me on my ideal move date. The three men you sent arrived on time, were very courteous and friendly and worked extremely hard. And, the estimate your company provided was right on target. I want to thank you for making a very stressful moving day an easy one for me. I would highly recommend your company to anyone in need of a moving company. Thanks very much. Pros: Courteous, hard working and extremely professional Cons: Can't think of one. more

Too Good To Be True 3/12/2008

Boston Quality Movers are the best! I initially called for pricing, not only did they give me the price it actually came out to be in the end, but they also asked a lot of questions. They asked about what items would be moved and if i had a preference on what got to the new house first. Throughout the move they kept me updated on what was being moved and when. Anytime i called with a question i received top notch customer service. This was an overall great experience. I don't anticipate moving again but if i do, it's no-brainer that I will certainly call Boston Quality Movers. Keep up the good work! Pros: pricing, efficiency, customer service more
