Suprisingly dissapointed 12/21/2006

Having tried various Ethopian restaurants in Detroit and Windsor, I was really excited to try the Blue Nile. The menu comes in only two options veggie or meat and it is served as much as you would like, sort of like a sit down buffet. Athough the decor was lovely and the waitstaff was nice, the selection of only two options was very dissapointing, not to mention the food was very plain and lacking spice. I am not sure whether the owners feel Westerners are so ignorant of other cultures that there selection must be chosen for them or they that are saving us from spices they feel we can not handle. Pros: Great decor, nice list of eccentric beverages Cons: No real choice in what you eat, horrible for two people. more

I wasn't all that impressed 11/7/2006

I heard that this was a good place in Ann Arbor for Ethiopian food. I can't say that I was impressed. The menu items are around $10 per plate. The food was ok and you can only order from two menu options; either vegetarian or a meat platter. On the platter, there's like six or so food items to choose from. You eat the food with some rice consistancy bread. I liked the carrrot, potatos and lentil dishes. I was surprised that the food took a long time to come out, especially since there wasn't a lot of people there and because you have only two main menu choices. On the plus side, it was a great experience. The restaurant looks great and they play music. Pros: Great ambience, food was ok, all you can eat entrees Cons: only two menu options more
