Best

I have went to the blue martini on a bunch of different occasions and I always liked the atmosphere and music. Pros: Really good blues music

Worst

Could be great... but smokey and crowded. Place smells like an old ashtray on slow nights. I've been several times but don't think will go back because of smell. Other than tha...

!!!Horrific!!! DONT EVER EAT HERE 3/17/2007

The worst management staff I have ever seen. The Manager is so rude. If he was on fire i would not wiss on him to put him out. Great place if you can be there long enough not be insulted by a person with no personal skills. The man would be better off digging ditches for a living. Not only will I never go back there again but I will tell every single person that i know that this is the worst bar in Raliegh. If I tell only 10 people and they tell only 5 their friends ,and they tell only two of their friends, and the of course the next person tells one person this place has lost 260 guest. Bottom line is that the owner needs to FIRE the General Manager! He is costing you alot of money. 260 people have now made the choice not to dine at the Blue Martini. They will take their money else where. If these people went out for drinks only two times a year and their average bill is $40 your business has lost over $20,000 dollars in business because your manager was nasty and rude to only one guest!! He even refused to give his name because he was so ashamed of his actions. From this rating site I can tell that this happens on a regular basis. more

smokey bar with great martini's 11/14/2006

This bar has good idea, but it wouldn't hurt if they invested in a air filter system that pulls out the cig smoke. Check it out for yourself. more

swanky atmosphere, great music 8/22/2006

I love to go to the Blue Martini to have some tapas and martinis, the music is awesome- I heard Skeeter Brandon the night I went, a great old bluesman- it is a great central location to go to other places, too more

Nice place for late nite martinis after work 6/11/2006

This past weekend my boyfriend and I went to the Blue Martini for the first time and were really impressed with the decor and total atmosphere. The dirty martinis were perfect along with the bartenders attitude. We made it in the door at 1:30 am and the people were still friendly considering they were probably working a 6 hr night. Our drinks were a little pricey but the quality was outstanding and we didnt mind paying a little extra for that. Its an awesome lounge to try if you like plush downtown raleigh nitelife opposed to dramatic -too loud clubs. You also have Napper Tandys a sweet irish pub with a dj on fri and sat nights right across the street, we also recommend that. Check them out. you wont be dissapointed! Pros: Plush atmosphere for late night drinks Cons: Parking sometimes more

Fabulous 12/30/2005

The Blue Martini is a great place to meet friends and have a great time!! The food is fun and deeeelicious, the bartenders are very attentive and the music is wonderful. Inside for the see and be seen, outside for good chats with friends. Pros: Martinis, Food, Atmosphere more

Unless your a college Kid 10/27/2005

Avoid this place unless you just want to hang with your college buddies and drink a beer or overpriced martini.. Is was a mess! We went because of the "best of" rating for martinis.. Was that rigged? The martinis were terrible! My wife and I are martini lovers.. probably have tried martinis all over the triangle.. we rate these on the very bottom of that list.. The service was terrible and we were sitting at the bar! We dont recommend this place at all.. Cons: Slow Service, Bad Martinis, Too loud and rowdy more

Interesting place for after work 10/20/2005

I was lucky enough to come in when a friend of a friend's jazz quartet were playing. Great band, the martinis were definitely well made. A couple of friends informed me that there's a Ladies Night ever Wednesday, $5 Martinis for ladies so I gotta check that out. I see a few reviews are a bit scathing, calling it "invaluable" due to the menu change, but I believe you have to go by what the customer enjoys. It just happens that we're not in New York, people. Not everywhere will be serving stuffed Portabellos, so if it's what you're looking for I don't think Blue Martini will be appeasing you. But the atmosphere is great. Pros: music, atmosphere, people Cons: service, food more

Customer Service is ALWAYS key 8/20/2005

Recently, I asked a friend of mine to join me at this establishment for drinks. I had visited a couple of weeks before and adored the place. It offers a terrific choice of martini's and has outdoor seating. However, after my latest visit, I encourage patrons to spend their hard earned money elsewhere. The menu had changed, but was still fairly limited. However, the manager himself ruined it all. After waiting a lengthy period of time, my friend asked him to make a small concession on her order. I was already appalled at the fact that we had to wait so long when it was obviously not a busy time of the day for them, but then he had the gall to not even state his name or apologize for the wait. I've never witnessed management being so rude. Pass on the Blue Martini. Pros: Outdoor Seating, Friendly Wait Staff, Martini Choices Cons: Rude Management, Parking, Menu more

One bad manager spoils the bunch. 8/18/2005

As a vegetarian there were no meatless menu items so I had to order a modified chicken dish.I checked with the waitress before placing a second order to ensure that there would be a price reduction for the food given a major component was omitted. She refused so I very politely asked to speak with the manager. After waiting patiently for 40 min. he finally came over and without introduction proceeded to very rudely and very condescendingly make it known that he would not make a price adjustment. He suggested that the adjustment would only amount to $.20 (ridiculous) and asked if $.20 was really going to make that much difference for me-as though to imply that I was asking for financial charity! We paid our tab and promptly left.Essentially he lost additional sales, disgruntled customers and created bad word of mouth. My question to him, was $.20 really worth it? Pros: Outdoor seating Cons: Rude Management, Parking more

Blue Martini - Tapas no longer 4/16/2005

On a recent trip to one of our new favorite tapas spots, Blue Martini, we discovered that once again another great, innovative and unique food spot has caved to the so-so tastes of the triangle college-bar crowd. A tapas menu that consisted of quail, steak, talapia and many other delicious dishes has been replaced by chicken wings, fish & chips, burgers and hot wings. Its true - what made this a great little tapas spot is no longer. The martini menu seemed to be slightly different, but it was the menu that blew us away. When we first visited Blue Martini it seemed like just what Raleigh needed, but unfortunately they have given in to the pressures to sell the plain-jane food that seems to do so well in this area. You can check this off the list of unique dining spots. Pros: Martini selection, Inexpensive Cons: No more tapas, Limited parking more

Wow is right! 7/19/2004

I tried the other place like this in town owned by Rocky Top, and this place will be here for a while! Great everything, just wish they had better music. The music is great for some, but I'm from west coast and we listen dif stuff, but no big deal. more

Moved to Raleigh recently. Went to Blue Martini last weekend. Had the Gumbo and Spring Rolls - they were excellent. The band was great. Servers were very accomodating. WOW!!! 2/29/2004

This place is what I have been waiting for in Raleigh! A very classy upscale Martini lounge with a great atmosphere. Great martinis and tapas. It is like Sullivans, but with alot more room to move around. The live music was very good. The bar and decor are first class. Pros: Great Atmosphere, plenty of seating, friendly staff more

One of Raleigh's Best 2/29/2004

Went to Blue Martini last Friday night. Very nice, romantic and classy Martini bar. Very spacious bar with plently of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Live Music seems to be the theme. I'm so tired of going out in Raleigh, and so thankful that Blue Martini is now in town! Pros: upscale, romantic, classy more

  • In Short
As is apparent from the name, Blue Martini specializes in sophisticated beverages for the 21-and-older crowd. But, the appeal to this downtown haven doesn't end with its cosmos. A tapas menu (duck gumbo is a staff favorite) and live music make this watering hole a welcome escape after work. A large sleek bar, overstuffed couches and large pillowed booths are perfect for groups or intimate dates.
