Hang-Out Diner 3/25/2011

If you want to meet a friend, do it here! The wait staff is great. They're quick with you order and they don't try to settle your tab as soon as you finish, so you can keep talking. The bar is fully loaded--hundreds of liquors. The food is good and good for the money. The cob salad has the most protein for your dollar. Avoid Tuesday nights. It's $1 burger nights. It draws in bad customers and wears out the wait staff. more

Great environment, great prices 1/26/2008

If you are looking for a unique place to eat, try this place! It is down by the Ohio State Campus, so it might be a little crowded, but its worth the trip! Try the meatloaf! more

A Columbus Institution 10/12/2006

For people who remember and love the 'Dube from its glory days, things have changed. The food is much more expensive (though now edible and even good), you can't smoke, but then again there are no more 16 y/o kids trying to get served or playing crappy teen pop on the jukebox. The service is still spotty, although much better than it was and the selection at the bar seems to grow geometrically. \r \r The bar staff are great people - surly and engaging at the same time. You can get a decent if somewhat less than expertly prepared cocktail, and most of the prices aren't bad. You can listen to anything on the jukebox you can conjure in your imagination. PBR tallboys are $1 all the time. There is nothing at all pretentious or affectatious about the 'Dube at all. It is, in essense, the perfect dive. Pros: Barstaff, parking, PBR. Cons: Panhandlers, hipsters. more

food has gotten much better recently... 7/14/2006

I've lived down the block from the Dube for six years. Up till recently, hamburgers were consistently overcooked, fries were mushy and undercooked, and other diner food - like meatloaf - was even worse. I don't know what happened, but I'm no longer forced to only order the turkey club or breakfast burrito: the burgers are great, other sandwiches are good, even dependable, soups are decent. They no longer make pancakes with bisquick. Still haven't taken a swing at the dinners - meatloaf, turkey dinner, etc. - but I'd bet it would be edible. Also, the service is pretty good these days. And, of course, they now have one dollar PBR tall boys. Pros: plenty o' parking. wear your hipster-iest shirt. Cons: ... more

when you're poor.... 7/1/2006

structurally, this place is a hole in the wall but the food is awesome and it's a great place to hang out when you're on campus, when you're poor, and when you just feel like hanging out any time of the week. Pros: food is good, it's fairly cheap, you can get in and out easy Cons: the place is dirty and run down more

rude servers 8/11/2005

my friend and i upon sitting down in one of the booths was rudely told by a server, ""all my tables just filled up, i'm not going to be able to serve you for awhile"" and quickly walked away. she didn't even offer us water nor did she give us menus. we barely even saw her and wondered if she was a cook on the side. another table was finished and asked her for the check, she responded, ""isorry, but it's swamped, i can't"" what the? i think they left without paying. after sitting there for some 20 minutes or more, my friend and i left and went to hound dogs where we were promptly greeted by our server. this was the worst experience i've had there. the servers in general are rude, slow, and depressing. Pros: open late Cons: rude servers, slow service, pretentious customers more

The Dube Rules 2/1/2005

I've eaten here for about 10 years now, and it's still a real comfort food, steadying gastronomical rock. more

The Dube Rules You 7/8/2004

The Blue Danube, affectionately called ""the Dube,"" is the best late night restaurant in Columbus. But it's not just for night time, it is excellent at all hours of the day. The service nowadays is very good, but it has a reputation for being bad, though I have NEVER had any complaints. The food is excellent as well. They even have a French Dinner platter that consists of 2 grilled cheese sandwiches (Roquefort cheese) and a bottle of Dom Parigon; it's a steal at $125. Also, they have one of the best gyros I have ever had; and their hamburgers are excellent, as are their zesty fries! I HIGHLY recommend the Dube! Pros: Good Juke Box, Good Food, Good Prices Cons: , Can be loud more

The Dube Rocks! 12/24/2002

The Blue Danube is by far the best bargain in Columbus for great food! Great atmosphere, with a bar setup plus quieter dining towards the back. I spent many a lunch and dinner at the Dube, and it's my first stop whenever I'm back there! more

""the dube"" gets my two thumbs up 10/3/2002

i love this place i go quite often and it provides a place for my friends and i to unwind and hang out after a long day at class and work. Pros: great atmosphere, great service, cheap eats Cons: parking is mediocre more

Cheap eats! 8/23/2002

Good and cheap eats, but you need to find your way around the menu - know what to avoid and what is consistently good. Hint: don't order the steak, go for the open face sandwiches or a burger. more

""The Dube"" 7/29/2002

Diversity, low prices, great music. Anyone who's been to the Dube has (1) probably gone back and (2) knows that it is not your average diner. Not much to say other than ""go try it out"". The atmosphere is classic and you will not believe the prices for the quality food and variety menu. Pros: music, food quality/price, atmosphere Cons: i got nothin' more

obviously under-rated 7/22/2002

The Blue Danube is a fabulous resturant if you stick to what they make best, personally I find that their burgers and chicken strips are excellant. The food is easily enjoyable by everyone, but the experiance is slightly eccentric and definately not for the old at heart. more
