Best Hot Yoga Class In Town 6/24/2011

I've taken Bikram Yoga all over the world and I have to say, this is one of the very best schools I've ever been to! I especially like that they have a professional front desk staff - most of the schools I've been to have the teacher checking people in and then the class always starts late. These folks run on time - you could set your clock by them. more

Definately not for me. 10/25/2010

I was told that recently this studio got new carpet... so you would hope that it would smell new, right? Anyhow, apparantly the new carpet comes complete with dirty sock smell. This was my first impression of this studio. more

Smelly bastion of the healthy and flexible 3/30/2010

As much as I love the tender flexibility of lubricated muscles, that post-yoga high and the joys of full body soreness, not to mention the glistening perfection of the bodies of many a Bikram die-hard, I cannot justify paying $20 a class for something I can do for free all Summer long in Memorial Park. In the park I am also not subject to the unpleasant olfactory of my counterparts nor the chiding of instructors who take themselves to seriously (sorry, but I think working out should be fun and treating something like church is NOT my idea of fun). Pros: good workout Cons: smells, price, routine never changes more

changed my life! 12/15/2009

I cannot say enough nice things about this studio. I generally dislike group exercise classes, but bikram is different. They emphasize collective energy that both mentally and physically rejuvinates everyone in the room. The class is totally non-judgmental. It is about working as hard as possible physically and reaping both the physical and mental benefits thereof. Sure, this will change your body. I lost two inches off my chest in two weeks. But more importantly, it will change your mind and the way you see yourself and the rest of the world. I love how completely non-judgmental this place is. It's not about making people feel inferior if their bodies aren't perfect--it's just about accepting others (and yourself) for who they are and respecting the hard work that they're doing in their own practice. Oh--and of course it smells a bit despite the fact that they clean the carpets regularly. You're in a closed off, heated, humid room with thirty other people who are all dripping sweat. This is not a workout for people who don't want to sweat (a lot) or have their makeup melt off/hair get messed up. Pros: great staff, great mental and physical workout Cons: none more

This Yoga School Changed My Life 5/7/2009

I found this wonderful place four and a half years ago, during a really hard time in my life. I was in the midst of a horrible divorce, suffered from migraines, chronic back pain and insomnia. \r \r From the minute I walked through the door I felt welcomed and the entire staff made me cared for and comfortable. Within a month of classes my migraines had disappeared and so had my insomnia. The back pain took a little longer but that was gone within a year. \r \r I can't recommend this place highly enough. They are miracle workers who genuinely care about all of us who practice there. more

Waste of Time, Horrible Customer Service 4/9/2009

I drove across town to Bikram's Yoga College of India last night and arrived at 8:18 p.m. for an 8:15 p.m. class. I was denied entry into the class because, (and I quote) "We're not allowed to let anyone in more than one minute after the class starts: it's unsafe." ...Seriously? A yoga class? Unsafe? If someone has to use the bathroom during class will they not be let back in because it's 'unsafe?' That's flat out the worst policy I've ever heard of. I work at an institution with timed tickets and if we instituted that policy, we'd have a riot on our hands. It's a horrible policy and should be scratched. After explaining to the woman that I drove across town and now would be driving back across town she didn't bat an eye lash. All she said was, 'sorry,' and turned her back on me. The level of customer service and disrespect displayed by the employees was appalling. This company is not interested in making you a repeat customer. There are plenty of other yoga studios in town, I would rec more

BEST YOGA STUDIO IN HOUSTON 2/18/2009

I absolutely love Bikram yoga! Both locations offer great classes, which are many throughout the entire day and evening. Super sweet receptionists and great instructors that really take the time to talk to you before and after class. This yoga has changed my life, I recommend it to everyone! Pros: Variety of class times, great for physical and emotional healing more

best yoga in texas.......... 5/24/2008

The one thing I know for sure about Bikrams Hot Yoga is how great you will feel afterwards... no matter that ,sometimes you may not feel like going, the reward of feeling rejuvinated from head to toe after class always gets me there. I have tried many styles of yoga before I tried Bikrams (26 postures and 2 breathing sets) series and I must say This one is the one for sure. The postures are just the beginning of a very deep and ancient path to self realization where if you stick with it , it will surely change your life for the better. The teachers are patient and mindful. Beautifully guiding you through each posture , teaching you how to be the best of your potential that you can be. Parking is easy and front desk staff friendly and helpful. more

Love it! 5/6/2008

I love both of the Bikram Yoga studios here in Houston. I practice more at the South Blvd location, due to it's location and where I work. It's just easier but when possible, I try to split my time at both studios. They are both great, with wonderful teachers and staff. They are friendly, attentive and very helpful. After my first class, I was hesitant, since I really struggled. The teacher and desk staff were very encouraging and positive. I thought they were crazy but I've stuck with it. It's been one of the best decisions I ever made. I'm loving the way I feel and look. I sleep better, I eat better & I just feel wonderful. This yoga has helped me so much and I'm forever grateful. Pros: Great hot yoga, friendly staff and teachers, good size yoga room Cons: Parking can be a little tricky at times more

Hot Yoga 5/1/2008

This special yoga where you do it in a 104 degree room with 100% humidity - sounds pretty awful? It is! But it is an amazing workout! The classes are 1.5 hours and are run all day long to meet everyones schedule. The classes have up to 25 people in there at a time with an instructor leading you through the whole rountine. Its sounds bad, but after the first time it gets sooo much better, and the next day you feel amazing! You don't need to be in shape at all, people of all different fitness levels do it - and people also lost a lot of weight doing it to! It sounds horrible, I was very resistant to trying it, but you definately need to try it once. Everyone I've taken to it loves it! more

Bikram Yoga Houston (South Blvd Studio) is THE best yoga studio in Houston! 5/18/2007

Bikram Yoga Houston (South Blvd Studio) is THE best yoga studio in Houston. It is a beautiful and exceptionally clean facility where all of the instructors know your name and are committed to helping you achieve your best during your practice. This yoga has changed my life, and it is the people who work at the studio that keep me coming back week after week and year after year. The instructors have a broad knowledge of human physiology and are able to answer in-depth questions regarding the specific healing benefits of Bikram Yoga and are actively engaged in helping you to improve your practice. The healing power of this yoga is very real... Pros: The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. They truly want to help you improve your yoga practice. Cons: Someitmes parking can be a problem because the lot is small and you have to park on the street. more

Great Yoga Studio 5/15/2007

THE BEST YOGA STUDIO ANYWHERE. AFTER YOUR FIRST CLASS THE ONLY THING YOU NOTICE IS HOW GREAT YOU FEEL AND LOOK - INSIDE AND OUT. IF YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE GYM THAT ACTUALLY GETS RESULTS THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. The staff is amazing and everyone really does know your name. It has an added bonus of making a summer day in Houston feel pleasant. more

Great Instructors 7/12/2006

I hated going to the gym. Getting on a machine that someone just finish sweating on ...Disgusting. Also I was going to the gym 3 times a week and saw no results. I know that I need exercise to be healthy, so finally I wanted to try something new. I read about Bikram Yoga that you can sweat with out sharing equipment, which is great in my book. Pros: Great everything more

Not My Favorite 3/11/2006

I've gone to another hot yoga place here in Houston for a long time but thought I'd give this place a try. The room was nice and the dressing room convenient, but I felt like a sardine and they didn't seem to care about anyone's physical limitations. Overall the experience was too generic/manufactured for me. Pros: Nice dressing room Cons: No personal attention more

Don't worry about a little sweat (or a lot)! 1/19/2006

South Blvd. has a more "inner-loop" crowd than the Fountainview studio and the room has windows for natural light. The benefits from the yoga are the same, so go to either studio!! Don't worry, even though we all sweat out toxins here, this studio is clean! My mom came here and even SHE said it was clean (and she's got tough standards). Oh yeah, as you can see from that, no age limit!! People in their late teens all the way up to their nineties (for real!!) come here because the teachers make it safe and fun. Pros: Convenient Location, Lots of Parking, Nice Bathrooms more

Great Place 4/10/2005

I have been taking classes here on and off for 2 years. The instructors are all very friendly and the class is easy for beginners to follow and structured so advanced students get the full benefit of the poses as well. The one on Fountainview is a little less stinky than the one on South. more

Owner Message
  • Bikram's Therapeutic Hatha/Raja Yoga is a series of 26 yoga stretching postures, and breathing exercises taught in a 90 minute class. Each pose is a challenge based on one's personal abilities. The postures are done in the safe environment of a heated room so that deep penetration can relieve one's body resistance without risking injury. The exercises produce a training effect without pounding the spinal column, thus relieving back problems.

By the end of a class session, each individual will have worked every muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, internal organ, and gland while systematically moving fresh, oxygenated blood to 100% of the body. The result is restoration of health to all systems. Best of Citysearch Audience Winner 2008.
