GooFy Fun piano bar that takes all requests 3/10/2009

If I am in the mood just to laugh and have a good time I would go to this bar. Watching and listening to the entertainers go from hip-hop to heavy metal to country on a piano while doing improv is amazing. How many places have a shot guy? They are not your normal uptight piano bar more

Absolutely a fantastic place to go when you are in St. Louis. 10/26/2008

10-25-08 - ROCKtoberfest. We couldn't park in the lot across the street because of the stage and booths set up, but that was the only difficulty all day. We went in before they were open and took pictures of the BEAUTIFUL bar (Tiger Walnut? and stained glass). They let us wander then told us when they opened so we could come back and buy T-shirts. When we came back the bartenders were preparing for the night but we got personalized service from Nick.... who makes the BEST Naughty Redheads! (imagine that..he's a redhead) He asked us to come back and see the place at full swing for the evening, but we were going to the Blues game. He assured us that we would have a great time. After the game we went back and the place was PACKED, but after getting a few drinks and finding a place to rest.....we were entertained, by both the pianists and the crowd. 3 bachlorette parties, birthday parties and tons of people having a great time. Pros: Entertainment - FUN - Excellent drinks Cons: Crowded - if you get there late you WILL be standing. Needs a bit of redecorating. more

very rude piano player 7/7/2008

I was at bar on July 4th. I had a pretty good time. I went back with a group of friends on July 5th. Totally different expeience. I will not go back. I wrote down a song, I had a 5 dollar bill to go with it. I went to take it up to the pianos and I was elbowed off by the piano player. He was very rude. I paid $6 cover charge and 5 for a song. I wish i would of grabbed my money back. i wasn't thinking quick enough. I was still in shock of by what he did. I told my sister about the incident, she goes every time she is in St. Louis. She won't be going back. I know I will never go back. All because of 1 bad apple. He was soooooo rude. The security guy next to stage was no better. very disappointed. I had heard quite a feww good things. So I thought I try it. My mistake. once was enough for me. Cons: a lot more

On occasion, it can be a great time 12/28/2006

An interesting piano bar to say the least, full of contradictions. The music is very loud. The interior is decorated in early-basement (concrete floors, exposed metal pillars, no wall decor whatsoever). The crowd is eclectic, ranging from businessmen in suits to your typical Landing trend-setters, to the punk-rock crowd. more

amazing talent, great entertainment 11/6/2006

WOW, I went here around Christmas time, and it wasn't what I expected.... It was better! Geeze, it was so amazing, the piano players would compete against eachother and battle it out while the audience sang along danced, and drank cocktails. I loved how you could request songs and they could plractically play anything! more

My friends and I have been several times..Each time is better than the last....the enertainment is outstanding..Drinks and service were great also..Our bartender was EXCELLENT. 10/15/2006

would love to go more often but we are in Southern Illinois.. I wish it were closer! WE always have a great time when we go there to visit. Pros: everything. Cons: nothing more

Terrible service, discourteous punks for bouncers 9/28/2006

I have never had more discourteous service at a bar. The bar tenders didn't know how to make a good martini, and my mojito didn't have mint or sugar in it. The staff was just flat out rude. $6 for rude service, over priced bad drinks, and a bar filled with 40 somethings, go to any of the other bars on the landing over this one. Pros: Great Performance atmosphere Cons: terible service and attitude. more

I've never not had a good time here 6/11/2006

This place has been a favorite of mine since the first time I ever went there. The waitstaff is not only courteous, fast, and attentive, but they are required to dance on the bars whenever YMCA is played-- if they're willing to act THAT ridiculous for complete strangers every night of the week, they MUST be dedicated to their jobs. Pros: Great atmosphere, lively music, reasonably priced drinks. Cons: Can get loud/crowded. more

Big Fun 7/12/2005

This place is awesome for people who want to go out and avoid the trashy club scene. Fun music from all generations and awesome for large groups to hang out! more

A loyal follower 5/14/2005

I used to frequent a piano bar in San Antonio. 4 years ago it went downhill. Low and behold, I found the glue that kep San Antonio rocking right in the Big Bang in St. Louis. Sam is great and has a fun place. If you want to have good almost clean fun, you have to go to the Big Bang. You'll never forget it. Pros: Staff, Unique fun, Creative entertainers Cons: Not one in my area, There is only one Sam more

fantastic 3/6/2004

This place absolutely rocks!!!! The house band is so fantastic--they are so interactive with the crowd and no matter what kind of mood you are in when you walk in the door--you will have a great time. I guarantee that one visit to this place and you will want to go back!!! Pros: the band more

Bang up Job! 8/9/2002

The Big Bang is THE coolest bar I've EVER been to! (and believe me, I've been to some cool ones around the world!) The music rocks, these guys can play anything, the entire house sings along.. and they just switch between the piano, the drums and a bass while playing each one really well. And they're FUNNY too! My friends and I had the greatest time, I wish I still lived in St. Louis so I could back all the time! Pros: Great Music, Funny Performances, Crowd Participation Cons: Too Busy for Staff more

Best Bang! 7/26/2002

The only place we go when in St. Louis. My husband is from St. Louis, so when we visit family, we make it a point to go to the Big Bang. I've never had a better time. In fact, we are going back for my birthday specifically to go to the Big Bang. The entertainers are fun, funny, and pretty attractive to boot. Love the crowd! Pros: Best entertainment, Not too expensive, Great Location more

are you kidding me? 6/26/2002

I'VE ONLY BEEN TO ST. LOUIS ONCE, BUT I SPENT BOTH NIGHTS THAT WEEKEND AT THE BIG BANG. IT'S THE MOST AMAZING PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN. BEING FROM NASHVILLE, I CAME STRAIGHT BACK TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY WE DON'T HAVE A PLACE LIKE THAT HERE. IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN, GO! IF YOU HAVE, GO BACK. IF YOU'RE NOT AMAZED, SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH YOU. Pros: MUSIC, ATMOSPHERE, LOCATION Cons: NOTHING more
