Belliston Academy of Ballet

After nine months of wasting our time at the local rec center, we decided to pay a little extra (about twice the amount of the rec center) and enroll our daughter at Belliston. She is five years old and loves to dance, but she simply wasn't learning anything in her class at the rec center. We wanted a place with more structure and repetition. Belliston has a closed-door policy, which is great because the rec center lets all the parents sit in at EVERY lesson on their iPhones while their other kids sit there, bored and wiggly; it was all very distracting - and Belliston doesn't let that happen, which is GREAT. They also have a dress code, which at the pre-ballet level is loosely followed, but at least there is uniformity. In the five months that our kindergartner has been enrolled at Belliston, we have seen a dramatic improvement in her self-confidence, coordination, and of course, dance. We have had total strangers tell us she has the "carriage of a ballet dancer or ice skater", which indicates she is demonstrating excellent posture. Her teachers are sweet and friendly, and recently wrote a wonderful recommendation for our daughter to attend a local arts school. The owners are also friendly and welcoming, and they remember our daughter's name as well as our faces. They have three performances a year - Nutcracker; Dance with the Sugarplum Fairy; and the Spring Performance. They have summer workshops and even a pointe conditioning class which involves a swimming pool. We have yet to encounter rudeness or cattiness. All of the parents I have met are very easy to get along with - and they come from all walks of life! Highly recommend this place if you or your child is truly interested in dance. more

Way over priced! Customer service is very poor as well. Save your self time and money and look anywhere else. more

We just moved to Westminster this year and enrolled our daughter in the pre-dance class at Belliston Centre of Dance. And we couldn't be happier! Our daughter has loved attending class, she has learned a lot and the teachers and staff are so friendly and caring. The spring program was so well planned and performed. I cannot wait to see my little dancer perform at Belliston next year! I highly, highly recommend this school! more

When my sister and I were kids, my mom had something of a falling out with our ballet teacher because she wouldn’t put my sister in pointe shoes before her feet were done growing. A competing dance school called Belliston Academy of Ballet was willing to let my ten-year-old sister go en pointe, so my mom switched schools. It quickly became clear that Belliston’s was not the answer, however. My sister was primarily a gymnast, but the dance school had trouble with having only a portion of her time and commitment: Belliston’s is, above all else, an ambitious school for ambitious dancers. For the majority of dancers who just want to dance for fun, I would definitely NOT recommend Belliston’s, but steer them instead in the direction of a more recreational type of dance school. more

I would highly recommend Belliston for ballet classes for you child. My daughter was enrolled for several years and learned ballet and tap. The teachers are very dedicated and professionals in their own right. Classes are an hour long so that gives them time to actually learn something! They have an on-site store (The Dancer's Closet) for all of your dancing needs, which includes gently used tap shoes, etc. Their spring performance is quite the production and includes all classes (and ages) the opportunity to experience live performing. more

My daughter went to the Belliston Academy of Ballet for a while and we found it to be very professional and serious. They are very serious about their ballet at all levels. We had put our daughter into the classes to see if she was interested in ballet and with all the pressure placed on the girls decided it would be better to try a less pressured environment to start her out in. Great if you are serious about ballet already though. more
