Worst

Holy cow this place SUCKS.\r let me preface by saying her staff is really nice and seems to really care for animals, but they are not vets and cannot help your pet.\r \r i real...

Patient, honest and informative. 9/8/2011

I was impressed with the service and the ability to see how patient the doctor was with my pet. Everything was explained before it was done. more

Awesome Vet!!!!! 8/31/2011

Both Dr. Pruden and Joanna were helpful and very courteous. Your service was greatly appreciated. Very helpful and I loved your house-cat Harvey. :) more

Great care for my cat 8/24/2011

I am very pleased with the care that Dr. Pruden and her staff gave to my cat. They are always professional and considerate to my cat's needs, as well as mine, so Thank You for that. more

Don't Go anywhere else! 8/19/2011

Bedford is a very pleasant and professional place. I appreciate that they take such great care of my dog!! I've been coming here for two years, and I have never had a bad experience with anything, and most of the other people I talk to with their pets while I wait say they love it as well. Anyways, this place is awesome and I will never go anywhere else. more

WORST VET EVER! 4/30/2011

Holy cow this place SUCKS.\r let me preface by saying her staff is really nice and seems to really care for animals, but they are not vets and cannot help your pet.\r \r i really question if this lady is even a vet. here is my long and somewhat amazing story.\r my cat was having diarreah and his 3rd eyelids were up. i googled it and it seemed there were many possibilities so i took him to this vet, which is close to my house.\r \r after waiting around (with a guy who was drinking a 22 oz at 10 am!!!!) we were called in. the doc talked sweetly to my cat, then said ""ooohhh, look at his eyes"". and i said ""uh, yah, that's why we're here"". and she said ""mmmmm....yah. i'll have to go in the back and look that up""?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?\r \r what???? this vet has never seen third eyelids up, and has no idea what that could mean? and she's going to go google it?? holy crap i should have left right then and never come back. anyway i had brought a stool sample, which she ddn't want to bother testing b/c he had recently changed foods, but i said just test it b/c i'm here anyway. turns out he had giardia. so they left me message to come pick up meds, and also to bring him back because she wanted to look for a ""pollup"" in his ear.\r \r (obviously, she had read up on this or talked to someone and realized she should have looked in his ears in the first place!) so i brought him back and she looked in and said ""omg he has a huge mass in his rt ear. i can't even see his eardrum!"" she said it could either be a tumor or swollen from trauma but i would have to go to VERG to find out. VERG is $150 for an appt!!!!! I called my old vet for a 2nd opinion and she agreed; if he had a mass he should really go.\r \r So i paid $150 to verg and guess what, THERE WAS NO MASS IN HIS EAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i threw $150 out the window for absolutely nothing. WTF?????????????????\r \r my cat STILL has diarreah so i called to ask if they could do free bloodwork, or give me more medication, or something for free b/c of that massive mistake but they said no. so i just paid them another $30 for meds.\r \r also, she made my cat bleed when cutting his nails.\r oh, and this is probably the best...the 1st time i was there 2 people came in and accused her of KILLING THEIR DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r \r this vet sucks. doesn't know anything. and thinks that being friendly to your animals compesates for her complete lack of medical expertise.\r \r DO NOT GO!!!! more

Bed-Stuy Vet Clinic Review 4/20/2011

I recently discovered that there was a veterinarian in my Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Upon my entry, I was impressed with the pet healthcare clinic facilities and the cleanliness. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. Who is, also, very helpful and informative.\r \r I found Dr. Pruden to be very patient and willing to answer questions and she seems to genuinely care. Dr. Pruden and her staff are professional, knowledgable and provide quality pet care services. \r \r Because of the cost of medical care, whether it's human or animal healthcare is expensive I would suggest to get an estimate of all services to be performed by the clinic to know the cost. \r \r If you are a pet owner and plan on taking your pet to the vet more than once a year for a check up and shots, I would also suggest you check into getting pet insurance.\r \r I'm surprised to see negative reviews here, because I really like this clinic. I believe, we have a great vet in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood and I have recommended the Bedford Stuyvesant Veterinary Clinic to several of my friends. \r \r The Bed-Stuy Vet Clinic is at a convenient location and street parking isn't too difficult in the area. more

Bed-Stuy Vet's own fake positive reviews on Citysearch 3/28/2010

So now, apparently, Bed-Stuy Vet Clinic is attempting to combat their real-life negative reviews by creating fake positive ones here on Citysearch!\r \r If you look closely, they have a half-dozen newer reviews, all within days of each other. They're all two-sentence glowing reviews, and if you look at each user's history, how surprising it is that they've ALL been attending the same dentists and ob-gyns, or that Bed-Stuy Vet Clinic is the only review they've posted.\r You're not fooling anyone.\r \r For the love of God, look at the original negative reviews regarding their lack of veterinary knowledge, and over-inflation of bills. \r \r I'm writing this so you don't gamble your pet's health by going to this place. Please, go anywhere but here! Cons: Did not refund balance on my bill more

I don't think it deserves that star. 7/28/2009

I am speaking as a person that works there and that takes my pet to another place. The prices are sorely unreasonable and she seems to take more interest in just talking sweetly to the patients, rather than actually help them. She is a shoddy veterenarian and I truly would not be surprised if she has no degree. I can only thank good luck that I had a dog before I met her, because appearances (which aren't much either) are quite deceiving at this terribly below average clinic. Pros: your animal is okay for the most part at the end. Cons: everything else: prices, ability, care more

DO NOT GO!!!!! Tryna Pruden is a dishonour to her profession 7/3/2009

First off, I am not even sure that woman ""Tryna Pruden"" can be called a doctor or that she is even licensed since I didnt see a diploma anywhere. She is a SCAM artist. \r I called to take my cat for routine first shots run and asked how much the total should be before I went there. They told me it should be something like $100-$120. After I got there this awful woman performed a blood-test, stool samples, and other without asking our censent. She proceeded then to dewarm the cat, and as she was about to do it I told her I did not want it since he has been checked weeks before in pet holspital and I knew he was clean. She did it anyway, which led me to think I would not be charged for it. \r \r When we stepped out of the room we were given a bill of $423!!!! As I started to complain I was basically told to go sod off and had to pay the full amount before leaving with my pet.\r \r I had taken my cat to the emergency room with a broken leg, had xrays, shots and a specialis visit with the orthopedist and still DID NOT pay even $400 for all of that at midnight! (Actually it was exactly $248).\r \r The part that gets me the most is that when she was examining my pet I felt like this person really did not seem like an animal lover at all.\r \r The entire experience was so disgusting that I even bathed my cat when I got back home to clean her off of him.\r \r It may seem cruel, but as far as I am concerned this woman Tryna Pruden is a total dishonour to her profession, and the Bed-Stuy neighborhood could really do without her.\r \r \r My adise is: NO NOT GO, and if you absolutely must then make sure to DEMAND a detailed estimate of all services to be performed before letting them touch your pet! Cons: total scam more

i should've read the reviews first 5/6/2009

like the other two reviewers, i,too, was conned outta money. i understand that medical bills, both for humans and pets, are expensive. however, the vet was trying to sneak in charges whenever possible, without my consent. she was going to give my dog an unnecessary injection, she was going to give her xrays, and she told me my dog NEEDED TO WEAR A CONE. ive raised dogs my entire life in texas, where space is ample enough to raise 10 great danes--i have seen great pet healthcare facilities and honest pet healthcare workers. it wasnt until i questioned all these procedures that i realized they were not for the benefit of my pet-they were fort the benefit of the establishment's pocket. also, a red flag went up when they told me my dog would benefit from doggie daycare- anyone with eyesight could tell that my senior pet who makes no noise and sleeps wherever she sits doesnt need to be caged up 10 hours a day. i love bed-stuy, and i think we deserve to have a great vet in the neighborhood, but, unfortunately, we gotta wait, cause this is not the one. im disappointed and broke. advice: trek your pet to another, well-established vet more

Don't Go 3/15/2009

I was elated to find out that there was finally a veterinarian in my neighborhood. I took my dog there when he was sick. The first question the receptionist asked me was whether I had pet insurance. I should have known from there that they would charge me for everything under the sun. I was charged for exams I thought were unnecessary and for things other vets never have charged me for. This is by far the most expensive vet I have ever been to. I don't think she told me anything about my dog's health that I couldn't find out from googling. I expect a licensed veterinarian no matter where they are located to be professional and to know what they're talking about. I also expect that if you are charging top dollar for your services that I will get top dollar service. Save yourself a lot of money and go some place else. Cons: Overcharges customers, Poor quality of care more

what you see is what you get 8/11/2008

I have to say I disagree with the first review on the Bedstuy vet. They certainly aren't perfect, but you can't expect perfection from a vet in Bedstuy, let's face it. I used to go there quite a bit for routine things (nail clippings, rabies shots, vaccines), and I guess I was happy with the service. Never really felt over charged. I mean, healthcare (whether for an animal or a person) is expensive. The doctor is very nice, and the female receptionist is also very friendly and loved my dog Lucy. There is one male vet tech there also who I was very fond of. My only complaint is that they might not be the right people to go to for a very complicated or rare illness, like the one we found out my dog has. It's a genetic disease that is very rare, and as I've now learned, many vet offices aren't familiar with it or carry meds for it. So it makes sense that after taking my dog to the Bedstuy vet a few times last winter for dehydration and a few other symptoms, that they wouldn't detect it or test for it. It's a bummer, because we caught onto the illness late, and only when we ventured to a vet in Park Slope, but I would say that the Bedstuy vet is fine for more routine and common illness and pet needs. Pros: not busy Cons: run-of-the-mill more

If you like your money, stay away 6/20/2008

I've been to a lot of different vets, as I've lived in many different places, different places in NYC too. This vet is by far the most expensive, the worst service and the crappiest office I've ever been in. They charge you 2x or more than what you should be charged, sneak-in shots and tests that costs a fortune, and beware of a bill that has extra charges. ie. they gave my dog a $13 ear-cleaning and an unnecessary 80 dollar shot. A bill that should have been $100 was $250. I'm so disappointed and will never return. If you care about your pet and your pocketbook, go to a better and more reasonable place. I had wondered why they had so much appointment availability, now I know it's because they are aweful. If you want a good vet + fair price, go to Long Island City Queens Vet, they're fantastic. Cons: way too expensive, untidy office, dishonest service more
