When I first tried Bayou, it had a lot to be desired. When they first opened, their menu was typical and the food wasn't all that good quite honestly. It had been about two years and I decided to try again. This time it was fantastic. Their menu has expanded. While I'm a vegetarian, I can still appreciate the dishes they serve to my meat-eating friends. They serve up a variety of beef and fish dishes. I understand the crawfish stuffed pork chop is great and so is the N'Awlins Chicken the Artie pasta. I can vouch for their veggie Napoleon and frise salad (minus the bacon). Their fried ice cream is outrageous. They have the typical decor- gold, purple and green beads and lights- all Mardi Gras colors. There are painted and feathered masks and exposed brick walls. They have ornate wrought iron work reminiscent of the French Quarter on the outside of the building. It's a nice quick fix when I'm feeling the urge to get back to New Orleans.
