Now, when I comes time to have a good time, we must think of not only the DJ but these factors as well; surrounding/people/atmosphere/drinks/smell etc. What I can tell you from 7 yrs. of experience from working there is that the surrounding(space) is great, people vary depending on what day, DJ changes with the night....Some times you'll have a featured DJ that will hold down a particular night for months on end. Has to do with their rep most of all....Look for that. As for the atmosphere; great....I loved working there because of it. Want the inside scoop? Sorry cannot give that out...LOL more

It's all about having options 4/15/2006

This club doesn't feel that big when you're inside, but it has the advantage of being connected to like 4 other clubs (Modern, Axis, and Embassy). Of all of the clubs, I tend to find Avalon plays a lot of techno/dance type music. They also hold a lot of major concerts there. They also often have big name djs come to spin (they usually charge extra for those nights)...I think I saw Tiesto there once. Anyway, depending on what night you go, the crowd varies, but it's usually a good crowd Fridays/Saturdays. more

The Avalon (as a concert venue) 3/20/2006

Okay sound quality, always close to the stage no matter where you stand, great bands, great atmosphere. However, there is little to no stage security, so be careful if it is a rowdy band playing. I got slammed against the barricade more than once by the crowd that was moshing behind me, and no one tried to stop them. Not a fun situation when you only came to enjoy the music. Still a great experience, and it has a prime location in the outskirts of Boston about two blocks away from Fenway. more
