Best L'il Shoe Repair Store in Texas! 5/25/2011

The service at this particular Austin Shoe Hospital is outstanding. First of all, it is a pleasure to do business where you are always given a genuinely friendly and personal welcome. Next, the recommendations for repair are always clearly explained and accurately written up. Last, the quality the leather repair is first rate. Always! I have taken belts, shoes, boots, and purses for repair and refurbishing for over 15 years. A quality accessory can last decades, and the Austin Shoe Hospital on Windsor is responsible for some of my things going from new to cherished to old to vintage. Thank you for doing what you do so well, and doing it with that wonderful "old Austin" feel. more

Best Leather Repairs in Town! 5/18/2011

My wife and I have had shoes, boots, handbags, luggage and sandals repaired here since the 1980's. We would not go any where else. They repaired my favorite, custom made riding boots and they were better than new. Thank you. more

Austin Shoe Hospital Brings My Shoes to Life 5/16/2011

I love Austin Shoe Hospital. They are life savers, always bringing my shoes back to life. With just a little TLC, Austin Shoe Hospital makes my shoes look as good as new. I have been a customer for years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I actually lived in NYC for 2 years (which I walked my shoes into the ground) and missed my local Austin Shoe Hospital. If you need to revive your soles, you must go to Austin Shoe Hospital. more

Not What It Used to Be 2/20/2010

I have been taking my shoes here since 1992, and have always been pleased with the customer service and quality of work until now. I took a pair of boots I love to have them re-soled. They quoted a week and a half to finish the work. It took two weeks longer than the date quoted for me to get my boots back, and when I finally got them (after many phone calls and them having to "find" my boots), I thought they had at least done a good job until I got the boots home and looked inside. The leather inside had been glued in with a large amount of glue smeared all along the inside sides of the boot, up the ankle and heel. Not only that, but the leather wasn't even placed evenly inside the boot nor was it adhered completely--which is amazing considering the amount of glue they must of used! And for that I paid $70 (and that was a "discounted" price for my trouble). All I can say is this is not the Austin Shoe Hospital I was familiar with in the past. They must have been bought out. Pity--I won't be back. Pros: New Soles looked great Cons: Lost Boots, Two Weeks over due, Glue Smeared Inside more

Disappointed 6/21/2009

Poor sluggish customer service. I brought in a leather boot to have the zipper fixed, and they charged $50 and didn't even replace the zipper. Next time I tried to zip it up, it still didn't work. Got a refund, but it took some effort on my part. Pros: Convenience/Location Cons: Quality, Customer Service, Price more

BEST shoe service EVER 6/6/2009

Found myself in a situation of leaving my fixed shoes at downtown location that was closed on a Saturday. James worked some kind of magic and got my shoes from the closed "sister" store and bought them to his store where he also fixed a few things that were supposed to be done also. You don't get service like that anymore. Would highly recommend. AND my shoes look FAB. Pros: James went beyond the call of duty more

Week turnaround for shoe shine? 10/22/2007

Took a standard pair of black dress shoes here to be shined on a Wednesday afternoon, and the attendant told me to come back Friday after 5 to pick them up. I arrive Friday at 5:30 and he tells me there is a problem. He brings out two different black shoes, and asks which one is mine. He says it is not a big problem and he will definitely have this solved by the next morning, telling me he would call me to come and get them (Why couldn't he call me in the first place to tell me he had two different shoes for me instead of making me come in???). He also makes a lame excuse that there normal time to get the shoes back to me would be Saturday, to which I posed the question "Then why did you tell me to come in Friday" which he didn't know how to answer. It is now Monday morning, and I have yet to hear from this guy. Bad service, and I must have these shoes by Thursday. This post will be edited if I do get my shoes back soon, and a discount is awarded. more

fine for shoes I guess, but DO NOT take a handbag there 3/30/2007

I took a moderately expensive bag to have its strap shortened. The original strap had a buckle, and I wanted the strap shortened and the buckle removed. This should've been simple, as one side of the strap was plenty long enough to create a strap without a seam. But when I went to pick it up, he'd shortened the strap by cutting into the longer side and leaving the buckle there, so that it was essentially 2 pieces joined in the middle by the buckle. I requested that he fix it, and he did, sort of. Now there is a Frankenstein's monster-like seam directly in the middle of the strap, right on top of my shoulder when I carry it. There are also bits of glue all over the place. Bad craftsmanship. Pros: fine for basic shoe stuff such as sole protectors and heel caps Cons: terrible job on basic handbag stuff like shortening a strap more

Excellent work in a short amount of time 11/28/2005

I had a pair of shoes that were perfect, except for needing them strecthed and softened a little bit. The cost was very affordable, around $16 for the pair. I took them to the shoe hospital where they were ready in 2 days for me. The service was wonderful, the shoes were in excellent condition when I picked them up, and they have locations all over Austin. more

Need Shoes Repaired? 11/14/2005

I took my favorite pair of boots here to be resoled and to have one of the zippers fixed. They did an excellent job at the repairs and for a reasonable price. I paid a lot for my boots and when they had problems I had been scared that I would have to get rid of them. This was a great option!!! more

Great Place to Keep Old Shoes Looking New 4/18/2005

I had these indian sandals for over 3 years but ruined them one night in a night club. I always hear advertisesments of this so I gave it try. They did a great job with the sandals, and seem to put a new life on the sandals. Plus, they gave me whole alot of tips to keep them looking new and taking care of them. The service can be pricey but go in there and kind of know what you want to do, to keep it low. PROS: Fast and Professional Service. CONS: Seem to suggest unnecessary services more

barebones service 4/7/2005

I support the idea of shoe repair places. Unless your shoes are really cheap, getting them fixed will always be cheaper than buying new ones. I do not have any experiences with the other affiliates of the Austin Shoe Hospital. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the service at the Windsor Rd. branch, though. They seem to care more about their profit than about their customers satisfaction (even though satisfied customers should mean more repeat business in the future). PROS: convenience, turn-around CONS: don't care about customer satisfaction more
